15 Jim Thompson
14 Lee Jones
13 Nick de Luca
12 Matt Scott
11 Tim Visser
10 Harry Leonard
9 Mike Blair
1 Allan Jacobsen
2 Ross Ford CAPTAIN
3 Geoff Cross
4 Esteban Lozada
5 Grant Gilchrist
6 Dave Denton
7 Ross Rennie
8 Netani Talei
Substitutes
16 Steven Lawrie
17 Kyle Traynor
18 Lewis Niven
19 Steven Turnbull
20 Stuart McInally
21 Chris Leck
22 Greig Laidlaw
23 Tom Brown
Fordy gets the captaincy as the backline I think a lot of Edinburgh fans have been hoping to see gets a run out against Treviso who thumped the Dragons last weekend. Going to be a really tough game but with Rennie back in the fold I'm hoping we can get some good ball at the breakdown and let this young, talented back division run some good lines.
I hope Edinburgh can win this but Treviso has proved a tough place to visit so far this year.

Radge, that's a really exciting backline for me (altho that's a bench place wasted in Chris Leck when you've already got Laidlaw to cover SH) - looking forward to seeing how Blair-Leonard-Scott go in the creativity stakes, and in the back three of Jones-Thompson-Visser there's plenty of try-scorers. In the pack, hope Fordy steps up his game with the captaincy and plays like the Lion that he is; might've preferred to see McInally at 8, but otherwise I like the balance of the backrow too

Good grunt in the forwards and exciting backs. Would prefer Denton gets gametime at 8 as I see his future there.
Not confident about this one!

Re: Embra squad for Treviso
I think against any other team in the ML I would be a lot more positive. We played well down in Swansea already away this year. However what Treviso did to the dragons was surprising for everyone I think and I would not be surprised to see them take a lot of scalps this year.
The Forwards look good, the backs look quick and exciting. This team is awfly close to my Edinburgh 1st team, perhaps trading Laidlaw for Blair. If we go down to Treviso the HC could be a short one for us again this year.

I do think we'll have to put up with a couple of years of inconsistency and poor results before we finally see the best of this team.
When you consider that 9 of the 22 are in their early twenties it bodes well for the future. However in the short term I can see us struggling against the veterans of the Heineken cup.

Re: Embra squad for Treviso
Pretty close to full strength for my money, certainly my preferred backline, with perhaps Laidlaw excepted.
So pleased that Gilchrist has been able to feature this season. Got a big future ahead of him that lad.
Tough game this, but I'm going be optimistic and suggest that Edinburgh can sneak this.

That's a bot more than I am hoping for to be honest. You're right about Gilchrist though, he and Gray have a long future in the boiler room of Scotland ahead of them.

What are the chances of the game being shown on Italian TV and us being able to find it online??

Thoroughly chuffed with the result today. From the reports I have read Leonard had a Stormer.

Do the Italian Teams have TV deals? If they don't its a poor effort and not great for the league.

Great away result that for Edinburgh. I'm really pleased Bradley stuck with Leonard and Scott as a combination. Looking forward to reading the match reports tomorrow. Great to deny Treviso a losing bonus point as well. Good win that.

Shame no Tv coverage, was looking forward to this game as a good test, shame I couldn't see any of it.

Well done to both Scottish sides - let hope they've turned a corner and can get back up the right end of the table.

Re: Embra squad for Treviso
Amazing win for the young team! Harry Leonard sounds a good prospect- really hope we can find highlights somewhere. I think having a more balanced back row is really helping this season - we have actual number 8's and blindsides playing in their proper positions. good bulk in the forwards and skill in the backs.
Sounds like the game was won from good forward play and Leonard's kicking though!
Now the simple task of London Irish away next week!

Different reports as to who scored the try. Some say chunk, some say Rossco.

Re: Embra squad for Treviso
Here's the account of the game from the Scotsman.
Doesn't sound like the Edinburgh backs were on fire, but they still managed to win. Pleasing performances from Ford, Blair and Leonard by all accounts.

STV had a highlights show at 11 30 last night apparently - might try and catch it on their website on catch up TV.

Re: Embra squad for Treviso
It'll be interesting to see the selection for the Heineken Cup match. I really hope Bradley doesn't change the side back to the one that lost a bunch of matches at the start of the season.
Edinburgh fans correct me if I'm wrong, but does anyone out there want Gilchrist, Leonard, Scott, Jones and Thompson dropped for Turnbull, Laidlaw, Houston, Webster and CP?
This would be my side:
1.Jacobson
2.Ford
3.Cross
4.Gilchrist
5.Lozada
6.Talei
7.Rennie
8.Denton
9.Laidlaw (c)
10.Leonard
11.Visser
12.Scott
13.De Luca
14.Jones
15.Thompson
16.Traynor 17.Lawrie 18.Turnbull 19.McInally 20.Blair 21.Houston 22.CP

Love the look of that backline - slightly light in the forwards, but that's what we've got to play with, and that's not dissimilar to London IrishRuggerRadge2611 wrote:funnyExiledScot wrote:It'll be interesting to see the selection for the Heineken Cup match. Re: Embra squad for Treviso
Irish were utterly destroyed by Leicester in the set-piece at the weekend, albeit with some players missing. What worried me was their spirit, passion and fitness to keep having a go at leicester and eventually securing the draw at Welford Road. I'm not sure Edinburgh will be able to match that sort of intensity.
Yes, Edinburgh have some very good backs, but Bowden, Joseph, Tagikakibau, Ojo and Homer are serious players, and for all his faults, Hape doesn't miss too many tackles. When Irish tick and get some ball, they are a very good side and very attack minded. I'm just not sure Edinburgh will be able to stifle them sufficiently and deny them enough ball.
Should be a very open and exciting game though. The missus is away this weekend so I'll be watching uninterrupted!!

Talei might be many things, but a 6 he is not. Have him on the bench as a super sub ready to come on and score a length of the field try to win the game at the death.

Problem is that neither Denton nor McInally are really 6's either. I guess Denton can continue to cover. I'd have Talei on the pitch though. It's going to physical.

Sadly Losi limped off at half time and left the ground in a knee brace, Ojo also failed to finish the game and left Welford Road with a plastic boot on his foot. JJ is out until after Christmas and Delon Armitage is likely to be banned, which sadly means that our attacking threat may be somewhat diminished this weekend.
