The RHCP Appreciation Thread
- Spoiler:
Didnt really start to listen to them until and was around 14/15 and now they are one of me favourite bands. Going to see them in MEN this Monday live for the first tme.
My favourite album would have to be 'By The Way', this was the first album I listened to and I like every song on it. I used to have it playing in the background when I was playing Championship Manager for hours on end haha.
My Favourite songs are:
Universally Speaking
Cabron
Tear
On Mercury
Warm Tape
Scar Tissue
Under the Bridge
What is your opinion on them? Are they good live and whats your favourite songs and album?

Again, not a big fan of theirs, but i do own Californication, which is a good album.
Does this mean I can do this type of thread for U2...or maybe they polarise opinion too much...

Re: The RHCP Appreciation Thread
I appreciate them enough to have just spent a fair bit to see them at Knebworth next year.
I think they are a very good band, who were an IMMENSE band when John Frusciante was a member. I think their sound has lost a hell of a lot since he left, and their latest album definitely suffers as a result. Though it's not a bad album, with some great tracks on it ("Monarchy of Roses" is awesome)... and I did still pay to watch them. Josh Klinghoffer is also a very good guitarist, it's just a shame, and a challenge for him, that he's having to replace one of the best in the world.
Like you, my favourite is By The Way. Such a beautiful, melodic album. And similar to you it was constant background music for hours on end whilst I was playing Gran Turismo 3.
RHCP are probably my most played band in my car. My favourite tracks listing would be far too long, so I'll just state my outright favourite - Can't Stop!
I hope you enjoy them at the MEN mate. Let us know how they were, so I know what to look forward to next summer!

My favourite track from By The Way is Dosed. Absolute lovely riff at the begining.

Amazing track LK. Nice understated solo at the end too.

It is ED I remember hearing the opening and thinking my god. Not heavy and not too light. Just perfect. It became my favourite on that album afterwards.

That's what Frusciante is genius at. The tone is almost always perfect, on any given track.

Back to the thread.
My Favourite Album - Calafornication - Purely because the emotion and lead up to it. The album could not have been scripted any better given the journey the band had been on.
Favourite Songs - Under the Bridge, Scar Tissue, Dosed, Snow
