If You Could've Written One Song? Empty If You Could've Written One Song?

Music Lovers. Here we are. I am sure all have tried to pen a song. Have you ever listened to a song and thought "God I wish I had written that?"

Well here we are.

Just one song. Tell me what song you wish you had written?

Mine?

For me....This Is The One - The Stone Roses

Why?

For the immortal lyric

"I'd like to leave the country, For a month of Sundays. Burn the town where I was born"

For me it would be Like A Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan. One of the most outstanding songs ever written.

Design for Life - Manic Street Preachers

One of the best lyrics of all time. A perfect snapshot of how life feels growing up where I'm from. A song that truly inspired me with its underlying call to not be afraid of aspiration. Don't just settle for what you "should be".

If it inspired me, it must have inspired many others. And I'd love to write something like that.

Musically - I wish I had written Chop Suey by System of a Downj

Merry Christmas - Slade

Just because you'd never have to worry about your pension...Wink

OK seriously, there's so many but off the top of my head I wish I'd written U2's A Sort of Homecoming Great lyrics and melody to it.

A whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum.

Beautiful song that just never ages.

Who knows what its about Laugh

I just love the song - I know its based on an old song (Bach?) but its still just wonderfully constructed.

I always wish I'd written riffs rather than songs.

The riff from Bloc Party's "Disappear Here" being the top one.

There are a few I wish I'd written, but since we're limited to just 1 here, I'll go with Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin, as the lyrics feel very personal to me.

I'm huge smiths fan and for me it has to be still ill, it is one of the best lyrically that I've ever herd, morrissey and marr are one of this country's greatest and underrated song writing partnerships.

I decree today that life Is simply taking and not giving England is mine - it owes me a living, But ask me why, and I'll spit in your eye!

Creed-My Sacrifice, an absolutely fantastic song that has been my favourite since the first time I heard it
