606v2 weekend gathering - Part Deux

First topic message reminder :

The weekend of March 23/24/25th has been suggested as a potential date for us all to get-together for a meet. Hopefully this is early enough in the year to avoid any competitions and it is also 2 weeks before Easter so shouldn't clash with any school holidays.

So, bottom line is, are you prepared to commit to this weekend at a venue somewhere between Birmingham and Manchester that is suitable for the majority?

We ideally need somewhere with half-decent course (check they take a County Card first, cos huge savings to be had there), decent accommodation and the Holy Grail (and arguably the most difficult thing to achieve) a decent boozer, with proper ale AND wall-to-wall ladies who don't mind being associated with a bunch of random blokes making complete @rses of themselves.....

It's actually quite JAS and I got into enough trouble with just TWO of us in Newquay..... this could be absolute carnage

JAS: the likelihood of you NOT imbibing your bodyweight in alcohol is probably like asking MAV NOT to chat up 22 year olds or me NOT to throw some shapes when the Motown comes on..... highly flipping unlikely

OK, just to recap then.......

We need a venue that has a bar/disco/nightclub with a fully stocked bar and a karaoke stage plus a DJ willing to play Motown records. And no women over the age of 22 admitted and preferably all women to be wearing nurses outfits?

NST - how about wearing one of these? It'll come as a real shock when you take it off on the 18th green.

Actually, thinking about it, I could do with one myself. I think my playing partners would actually wet themselves if I turned up in one of these. Could be worth it.

Really can't argue with that at all..... D4S yeah we could do with a golf course just to give us a break from the drinking, shape throwing and general deviant debauchery. Nurses outfits are optional, as long as we don't need a bag of flour ""if you get my meaning"

Ideally it would be nice to have all things we need in reasonable proximity to eachother...that way you don't have to drive in the morning after..

No decision taken on a venue yet, still waiting for a few more people to commit. Quite a few have said they are up for it on one thread or another but so far only about 8 people have sent me a PM.

I think it might be best to get Crimbo out of the way then look to book up somewhere straight after New Year. I'm still leaning towards one of the golf hotel complexes as I think they will be easiest to get weekend tee times.

I'm waiting till I hear back from everyone that is interested then I'll look for somewhere as central as possible for all those intending to come along. At the moment it is heavily biased towards the south, the original suggestion was a venue somewhere in the Birmingham to Manchester area.
Not heard anything from any of the Scots lads yet, don't know if they want to join in?

Obviously we'll try to keep it as reasonable as possible but looking on the likes of yourgolftravel.com there are decent 3 day/2 night deals to be had for less than £250.

If the majority want to go for a seperate hotel and good courses option then the cost would shoot up. I think to get as many as possible to come along the first option would make the most sense.

Seems like a reasonable amount (as long as I don't have to share with Mac)

I think Brighton would make a great venue.

I like the idea of a golf venue with accomodation on site so it means no one has to drive (rather than the more expensive option of booking the golf and accomodation seperately)

As D4S says I've seen 2 day/1 night deals for around £100 and 3 day/2 night for around £200
