Matt Ksevic for England 7 shirt?
I couldn't really single out a performer in last years England U20s but here is a name that I remembered and he had an outstanding game against Stade last night, which was apparently one of many this season. I know he's still only 19 but Wales have showed throwing in youngsters with little club experience pays off (North, Halfpenny, S.Williams).
Why not hand him the jersey straight up? Take's one selection headache off the coaches mind.

He's not even playing for Worcester.
Wallace is a young 7 who is starting and playing very well for Quins....so he would be ahead....but even he is in his first season....if he is still playing well in January...then yes.
But no to Ksevic just yet....

Wallace hasn't started since the LV has he? The big boys came back and he was on the bench or not in the squad. I'm pretty sure Robshaw has been playing 7.

Well he was playing for Worcester last night... Against quality opposition aswell. It was just a thought as he looks similar to Warburton. I haven't seen any other standout 7's but I don't watch much English Rugby.

I thought you wanted Clegg in the England squad? He was also dropped when the big boys returned.

I'm open, was just querying whether excluding Kvesic from the running on the basis he wasn't playing regularly and then suggesting Wallace wasn't a bit odd as neither seemed to be regulars. As corrected me though.
Personally I'd like to see Seymour given a go he is putting in plenty of big performances for Sale. As for Clegg I'd want him as the third choice behind Flood and Hodgson.

Seymour is a decent shout. He's a busy player and seems to have found consistency this season.

Watching the game against Stade , he defiantly looked very useful indeed. But as mentioned before , there are just so many quality flankers abut these days in English rugby.

Well we rarely see them play for England...

Re: Matt Ksevic for England 7 shirt?
Robshaw is surely the leading contender to start at 7 for England in the six nations. He has been outstanding all season and has led the team by example, playing mostly at blindside - whilst now returning to openside since the return of Fa'asavalu and Easter from the world cup.
Wallace had a good start to the season, but I doubt he'll start much with the 'big boys' back.
Kvesic looks an exciting prospect, but England will be too much too soon. He'll probably get game time with the Saxons.
Mercer of Bath looks a very exciting prospect as well. Whilst Gibson at London Irish has been playing very well, both players start for their respected teams in their Heineken Cup fixtures this weekend.
Seymour has been playing very well since the start of the season and it will be an interesting battle for the openside birth at Sale once Fourie comes back from injury.

Thats an interesting comment....
There are a good number of back rowers about at the moment....but most of them are 6's....
We have almost no specialist 7's or 8's. And this is showing up at international level.....where Easter is average and we are especially missing a out and out ball winner at 7.

I don't think 7s need to be specialist, it isn't a specialist position, unlike 8.

Rory, id be in slight disagreance with you there. I think 7 is quite a specialised role.....

There are two flankers on a team and one number 8. I think you need balance in the flankers, but it doesn't mean you need a fetching 7 and ball carrying 6. Look at Munster, who played Quinlan at 6 and Wallace at 7. Quinlan was the master of the breakdown and had a crazy work rate. Wallace was the ball carrying support player. It works because there is balance!

So in effect Quinlan was playing the 7 role with No.6 on his back.
You need a player who is great at the breakdown in there....

Re: Matt Ksevic for England 7 shirt?
That was the point I was making
You don't need a specialist 7. You need two flankers who compliment each other. Add a proper specialist number 8 and you have yourself a solid back row combination.

But Quinlan was still playing the ball winning role....so its still a specilised role...

No, you said 7 is a specialised position but it isn't! You need balance in the backrow, that doesn't mean a fetching 7. In fact some teams like France don't have a fetcher at all. SA won a world cup without one. Atm Ireland have Ferris and SOB who compliment each other very well. The specialised role is 8, as he has a specific task of controlling the ball at the back of the scrum and providing a link between the forwards and backs.

Re: Matt Ksevic for England 7 shirt?
I agree you need balance. Our seven was a right hard as nails ball carrier and tackler, as a six I mostly cleared rucks and made myself a right annoying git. It worked, eventully I ousted him and he loved to 8 to make way for our south african 6. Never seen a player work as hard as him on a pitch.

Re: Matt Ksevic for England 7 shirt?
7 is another problem position for England that is just about to get a lot better. Jamie Gibson is probably the current form 7, but there are lots of others who've looked promising this season.
Kvesic is a class act and very likely to play for England. Before he gets anywhere near the senior side he will be playing for the u20s and needs to become a regular with Worcester. He's versatile but has recently focussed on 7. Having said that, Charlie Walker has been outstanding for Leeds and may push Kvesic to 6 for the u20s.

Crikey Welshy, just because you have to have one of the 6 approved surnames to play for Wales doesn't mean every country has to have the same rule. Think globalisation young fella.
By the way could you come up with a best of all time Wales team with the same surname? Do one for Jones and one for Williams.

I think all three will still be U20 eligible come Feb, but I can't see their clubs releasing them. Although if they do it would spell disaster for the opposition U20 teams.

Some of these Welsh supporters are very Daily Mail
Kvesic looks a good prospect. There were some excellent players in that under 20s squad at the JWC. Launchberry was another who caught the eye.

Launchbury was playing 6 pre-injury. And Gibson has been playing 7, and doing a good job there.

What name did they remove to get Faletau on the pre-approved list?

Born to English parents in Germany (his Dad was in the army).
According to Wikipedia he did most of his schooling over here, joining the Worcester academy after attending a Year 8 (think that means 12yo) camp.
He's English.
