First topic message reminder :
Without being too nasty, how to you envisage the regular 606ers?

I'm now thinking a Paul Casey figure, shorter in stature but still with the popeye arms..
Thats as accurate a description of me as you'll get, same build, same colour hair and only couple inch height difference

Loving some of these descriptions of me, if you take the Paul Casey build from SR, and Robert Rock dishevelled look from Mercs description and MPB's description for personality traits I'd say between those 3 they've nailed my description to a tee.

Of all the ones that have been suggested for me I'll happily pocket the Tim Clark and take that home. Thank you very much

So I'm a mixture of Rab C, John Jacobs, Fulton McKay and a slim Monty.
I think that would scare the horses.

Attempt #2 to post a reply (fighting stoopid handheld)...
I am with Mary on word/person association with usernames, and indeed, have shared the same thought regarding Sir Merc (given similarity with "Mercutio" from Romeo & Juliet).
Selected others:
* Maverick - Pete Mitchell from Top Gun [Tom Cruise c1986]
* LadyPutt - Lady P [Penelope] from Thunderbirds
* a seasonal variation on the original example - Freddie Mercurio...
Actually, other than my specialist mega-flop shot off the tee, my username was semi-inspired by an old 606 thread which named various golfing gods including Darth Fader and Jabbicus the Putt. I look nothing like Mark Hamill though.

You actually nailed it. That's where my nickname originates from a)because of the resemblance and b)my mates and I did a top gum themed night out with flight suits, white tees and aviators and I was Maverick and the name stuck since my mates even call me it can't remember last time they used my actual name

Re: What do you imagine 606ers look like?
Must admit this is the best laugh I have had in a long while.
Just to put everyone out of their misery, about 20 years ago when Alan McManus was strutting his stuff as Taggart, ( I was a production manager), and I know my nickname on the shop floor was Taggart, think it was more due to the big ears and bloody awful attitude

Alan Mcmanus, he could play snooker AND say 'There's been a murder'!, Was he wearing a dickie bow and waistcoat and twirling a cue?
,surely you mean Mark McManus Op?
Have to say that I didn't know who Tim Canterbury was Merc So googled it. Nowhere near. Closer to Hugh Grant circa 'About a Boy' era.
I think the Mac one might be more apt though, although had to Google him too as I purposely boycott Ricky Gervais vehicles. Am tempted to invite Mac out for his first pint with another person, just to see if it's a good likeness.

Re: What do you imagine 606ers look like?
Loving reading all these descriptions but I must be a fairly unimaginative sort as I don't really have any mental pictures of anyone apart from Mav, of whom I immediately though of the Top Gun character because of the name
As for all the guesses about me, the "old rocker" image is dead right in character terms though none of the descriptions really match (Alice Cooper?)
I probably look older than my 51 years of age because of premature greyness which started in my 20s and now almost pure white/silver. It is also way too long since my last haircut so it is far too long right now (not a good look, believe me) but that helps add to the aging rocker look

I was on at a meeting once and the guy sitting opposite me looked like my double~ very spooky.
He was a head teacher which probably explained why quite a few folk used to say hello Mr Johnson to me when out shopping.

Re: What do you imagine 606ers look like?
Well, if I didn't have any laughter lines before, I certainly have now. Nice one s_r.
Mercurio ... this ...
"Gael - can't argue with the Catriona Matthews one, just without the laughter lines. Probably no laughter lines, none."
... still has me laughing out loud.
Shouldn't come as any surprise to youse lot when I tell you that I'm pretty useless at this kind of 'game' so I've only been able to come up with a few ... so far:
Doon ... John Panton - a gentleman both on and off the course.
Kwini ... Harry Carpenter. Not only can kwini write but I rather think he'd make an excellent tv sports presenter.
Diggers ... McDonald Hobley - tall, slim and totally unflappable
d4s ... Benny Hill. Need I explain?
Mac ... Bertie Wooster. He'd fit right in at Muirfield.
s_r ... no two ways about it, with his constant references to anyone fatter than a stick insect, this is how I imagine him to be in real life ...

Very good Gael, there's something about the name Billy Bunter which always makes me laugh.
Now that we've all shared what we thing one another looks like. How about posting a link to a well known person who you actually DO look like?

More of a blend of Des, A short Ken Brown, Taggart and a Meercat.

I do have a double and a movie star like Mav, although sadly not Tom Cruise but Woody from Toy Story. You need to picture the hair as salt'pepper (ie grey) and you really can't tell the difference - I have the figurine on my desk to prove it with hair suitably coloured by my work colleague (she still finds it funny)
Staying in the franchise would profer the following (with apologies to all concerned)-
Kwini - Buzz Lightyear
Mac - Zorg
Lord & Lady Putt - Mr & Mrs potato head
D4S - Rex
Merc - Hamm
doon - wheezy the penguin
JAS - slinky
S_R - stinky pete
Mary - has to be Jessie
I'll get my coat

I always thought George was a bit of a mincer, and rather annoying. Zippy was the legend.
Incidently, he was orange allegedly because the creator was a Dundee United fan. He was originally supposed to be blue.
This parody of Rainbow is quite funny.

Probably because you called George a bit of a mincer. He was clearly a puppet who batted for the other side.
As youve clearly been a Daily Mail reader since kindergarten this cant have seemed right. Its not your fault, you've just been conditioned that way.
