I wouldn't bet on a horse without looking at it in the paddock, and I feel the same about 'betting' on the outcome of the slams before seeing the form of various players in the run up to the big tournaments.

I am going to predict that an injury free Tsonga will have a great year - I don't know if that will result in a big win, but I think he will go deep and be a menace to one and all!

Too early for predictions.

Let's see what the form and fitness of the contenders are leading up to each slam.

You'll get my vote for the funniest poster around. Though I admit the competition is not great in that department.

No, the body will cost him. I can see why you're saying it - his way of playing makes him very hard to beat and resistant to opponents strengths - but his Achilles heel is what he puts in and the the body. Look at him this week.

Could be, but Nole will have learnt to pace himself a bit better next year. I don't think he'll be killing himself with any winning streaks next year. He'd be happy to lose is semis of 500 or 1000 if the body tells him so.
It's that streak that cost him, as well as the low he hit when the adrenaline ran out, and during the injury time out of 6 weeks he had plenty of time to cool down both mentally, emotionally and physically.

He's done well to to take part in Basel Bercy and WTF, probably the pressure he had from the number one ranking/ sponors etc, he gave what he could without pushing himself, I really don't think he could've pushed himself any ore than he did even if he wanted to which he clearly did.2001was a very new and different experience for him. Nole is a fast learner and I expect a great 2012 from him.
Obviously, somebody else could go on a mad streak of form, but until I see it happen, I'll happily sit by the fire and dream of 2012 Wink

Australian Open winner - Tsonga
French Open winner - Nadal
Wimbledon winner - Djorkovic
US Open winner - Delpo

I have a weird feeling that Del Potro and Tsonga are slowly starting to up their games currently and the top 4 in the world seem to be getting injured alot recently so being ambitious lol

Murray had best let Tsonga take his spot then.

eraldeen before this year end championship I was beginning to think Federer may not have another slam title in him. That would be writing him off too soon.

How about Federer for the AO and the Olympics?

The French is already claimed by Nadal -assuming he turns up.

Wimbledon could be a real fight between the top 3.

That leaves the US Open. If Andy's going to win at least one slam this could be where he breaks his duck (there after all the abuse I got for questioning Andy's attitude at the O2 that should pacify the pro-Murray brigade).

Surely Feds best hope is the USO. The others are too slow.

One outside of top 4. Top 4 will pick three out of 4. My guess is Murray will miss one. AO-JWT, FO-Federer or ND, Wimbledon-ND or RF, USO-RF or Nadal.

If you really had to put money on it, you would be reluctant to look outside the top 4 for slam winners in 2012. Yes, it would be exciting to see JSW taking one of the slams but if the evidence of the matches against Fed recently is anytying to go by he just lacks that consistency to string seven five-set wins together.
A really fit del Potro with more-favourable draws than he had in 2011, might be a contender. But I had expected him to do better at the big tourneys this year so I'm doubtful if he'll reach the heights in '12.
Murray, I'm sad to say, looks like falling just short again this year and may not even be able to rely on age catching up with Fed to get him to a major.
Rafa is ALWAYS going to be favourite for the French, so my prediction is that the current top three, barring nasty injuries, will take all the slams in 2012.

I still like this combo the most for 2012:

Australian Open winner - Federer
French Open winner - Djokovic
Wimbledon winner - Nadal
US Open winner - Murray

Eraldeen - Reckon there's a chance of the top four sharing the slams in 2012. But twould be a brave person to go against Rafa at the Slams.
Let's argue that the slams ARE shared. I would, in that case, go like this:
AO - Djoko
RG - Rafa
Wmbldn - Fed
USO - Murray
