Who will win more slams from here onwards?
Who will win more slams from now to Wimby 2012?
Well, I cannot think of anyone else who can be a contender to win a slam other than these five. If you think of someone else then please let me know and I will edit the poll.
In my opinion, if djoko plays Fed or Murray in semis then he might or might not lose again, provided he beats them then he will be winning the slam.
Murray can win a slam provided he wins his semifinal against rafa or djoko. He has equal chance of losing against either of them. However winning in semis will be a major boost for him this time and he might nail first of his many slams
Fed can beat Djoko in semis and might or might not win another slam whereas if Andy takes Nadal out ior Fed creates an upset by beating Nadal then he too might win another slam but chances are diminishing as time is moving very quickly for him. However he still has 16 slams against him and has been the best player to adorn these courts.
Nadal despite of being such a fantastic player and been nearly invincible is going through a very contemplating phase of his career since 2009. Even Uncle Toni is clueless. He is wishing for Djoko's game to get affected. Nadal can only expect Fed to beat Nole again and that will clear his path for winning more slams or he can do another duet with Shakira as his fortunes changed dramatically after the last one- GITANA!
your thoughts
please

Until when? Unless there's a time limit on this debate the answer is probably going to be Federer Mk II who will win 20 Slams around 2020.
If you mean in the next 10 events, then I suggest probably Djokovic is the obvious pick.

I had to go for Djokovic. He's the man in possession and if he has the edge over Nadal mentally then I think he will win most.
Federer looks less likely to take any more slams, and Murray just doesn't seem able to get over that finishing line.

I said before that Del P could break up the fab four as long he steered clear of injuries and, blow me down, he missed practically the whole of 2010 and is now having to claw his way back. A fit del Potty is the only one I can see winning a slam outside the top four.
The next three Slams ? Djoko for the USO, Fed for AO, Rafa for French.

I wouldn't be too optimstic about Fed winning the AO. His game on slower HC is just not as effective as it used to be; he doesn't have the speed to retrieve and hang in the longer rallies and he can't hit through players on these slower courts. His results since 07 confirm just that, except for the victory at OZ in '10.
I think Fed's best chance is at the USO, although having said that, I believe stupid saturday reduces his chances somewhat - It's much harder for a 30 yr old to recover and recuperate in time for a match the following day than it is for a 24/5 yr old.

Going forward the question I'd tend to think that Djokovic has the best hand but I wouldn't be surprised if Nadal's game takes another stride forward, so the balance may shift.
Murray, I think has no chance. He needs a real forehand.
Federer, well, unlikely, but it's true that you can't write him off.

Agree somewhat Tenez,
Djoko will expose Del Po's relatively weaker movement on slower surfaces.
However, if he's firing on all cylinders (del Po) he could potentially blast anyone off the court, particularly on faster courts.

I'd like to see Delpo win a few more slam but it's going to be a tough ask.
Maybe on slow wet clay he coudl beat Djoko.

Fully agree about the Andy M forehand. It's just not enough of a weapon. People playing him would do well to hit everything on to that side.

I don't think Del Potro's movement is as bad as it was when he won USO, I think his main problem against the top 4 is he's mainly a ball basher, and doesn't use tactics enough in his rallying game...

Well Federer really made Delpotro look one step slow for nearly 3 sets in that USO final. Federer was really one point away from winning that final 3 sets to love in a pretty convincing fashion.
Once again, I am more than convinced that Djoko is teh one that tired Federer in that stupid super staurday. Of course then you had Delpo shots which requires amazing footwork to retrieve and that was what got Federer physically at the end.

Re: Who will win more slams from now to Wimby 2012?
Also how intelligently he kept Nadal guessing on his serves and managed to win quite a lot of free points. Only thing he struggled against Nadal was the slice. That lost him quite a few points in the beginning.
tbf Delpo has good variety in his game, as he can put lot of spin, he came to net more than murray, nadal, fed and djoko. He has good serve and a ferocious forehand. I think he has a decent chance of becoming no. 1.

Tenez, there is not guarantee that Fed will be playing on super saturday again, it could be djoko, murray or anyone else.

David Lloyd thinks Andy can't do it because he needs a shave:

This is hilarious,
I cannot stop laughing. Well Murray has tried everything else so why not to try this as well, after all rafa, djoko and fed does it.

Murray should turn up on court in a suit and tie with his hair parted on whichever side successful people part their hair. Then his forehand will always hit the back of the line.

Can't see it being anyone but Djokovic. Frankly, I would favor Novak over anyone else in all the slams I see between now and next year's wimby. He has shown in the last 7 months that on his game it doesn't matter if it is hardcourt, clay, or grass.

Quote from Lloyd:
"He is definitely the third or fourth best in the world, but he's not quite as good as those three guys really."
mmm... that makes sense,
I bet Andy's sick of him.

Djokovic is the marked man now
World number 1 and Australian Open and SW10 champion
Added pressure, he'll crack sooner or later
He's not in the class of Federer to dominate like the Emperor did

Every number #1 eventually loses the ranking sooner or later Masked Magician. The one thing I will say is that Djokovic basically has the #1 ranking wrapped up until the AO 2012 as long as he doesn't get injured.

I'm saying when you get to number 1 lesser players can come out swinging and get lucky sometimes.
Being number 1 has these added pressures

Re: Who will win more slams from now to Wimby 2012?
So who could be the likely slam winners in the coming 4 slams?
From the poll, it clearly suggests that Nole has the lead over others and no one is ready to give Andy a chance.
Also, could there be a possibility of Dmitrov, Raonic and Tomic to break into qfs and sfs?
Will rafa win any more slams?

Fed will probably beat Nole again as he knows how to do it?
Probably rafa can make out as how he is doing it. IMO Rafa needs to be more aggressive and come in when dictating the points as it looks nearly impossible to beat Novak from the baseline.

Nadal may be the favourite against the field at RG, but he certainly wouldn't be the favourite in a final against djokovic, if the status quo is maintained until the next FO.

Re: Who will win more slams from now to Wimby 2012?
Yup, I agree Emancipator & JM. Nadal favourite @ RG vs Djokovic? Maybe before he lost Wimbledon, but not anymore. You can't dismiss Djokovic has a nobody compared to Nadal MM, it just proves his clay court wins were genuine and not some fluke as you were alleging.
It's okay though, Nadal might recover, but if Djokovic remains as he is, Nadal is second best @ RG but luckily for you, the clay court season is a long time away, so you can take comfort from it. The USO though will be another matter....

Murray is the AO specialist I agree, however he isn't going to win USO!
Since he made the final there he's lost 4th round twice, tells it's own story :P
