Lucas Leiva out for the season
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has been ruled out for the rest of the season after injuring the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The Brazil international suffered the injury during Tuesday's 2-0 Carling Cup quarter-final win over Chelsea.
"I am really sad with the news because I was enjoying a lot on the pitch," Lucas tweeted.
"I am sure I will come back stronger I will achieve everything that I dream with the LFC shirt."
He added: "I am sure I'll NEVER WALK ALONE."

I am gutted. Lucas has been probably our best player this season, tackles flying in everywhere, and playing some nice simple passes. He has come on leaps and bounds since his early days, and I just hope that this injury doesn't set him back. I think he has got to be the most improved player I have ever seen in the Premier League, I have never known somebody go from so useless to so good.

Re: Lucas Leiva out for the season
really bad news, played himself into being one of the first names on the teamsheet and is really going to be missed, i think we now need to go and get someone on a loan deal in january to try and step in, because although spearing was good when he played last season, i just dont think he can keep that form up for 6 months

Re: Lucas Leiva out for the season
Well we've recalled Shelvey who's been in great form for Blackpool, although won't fit into that role as well.
I think Spearing is the closest in terms of style of play, but like you say isn't quite good enough.
It could be a huge detriment to our season, as he nullified the likes of Silva and Mata in the City and Chelsea games, so I'm worried what will happen without him.
