New Scotland backroom coach
Scotland coach Andy Robinson has said that he's looking for a new coach "with international experience", is this signalling the end of Gregor Townsend or is it someone like Graham Henry coming in to help

Well if Henry really wants a challenge then he'll be interested...

Apparently he wants to ADD rather than replace and he's looking for someone with "international" experience - excellent news. The downer is that it won't be until after the 6Ns at the end of March

Not sure I fully get why the guy is going to do - we have someone for the forwards, the backs, scrum and defense and Andy is head coach - what more do we need?

Somewhat bizarrely imo, the post RWC review revealed 3 areas requiring attention:
1 taking chances when they arise
2 absorbing errors
3 taking drop goal chances
I would have thought creating chances would have merited some attention?

Were already notorious for just settling for the three points when we have numbers out wide and advantage being played! WHY MAKE IT WORSE!?!?!?

I'm pretty sure we had the highest number of drop goals at the WC (correct me if I'm wrong), so I can only presume this is here because of how close we were to beating Argentina. I agree that we do often settle for 3 points rather than go for the try. I think every team wants to take chances when they arise, so this is a bit of a strange point to make. I'm not sure what absorbing errors actually means.
As for the new coach, please please please let it be an experienced attack coach so GT can go back to coaching school kids. Why not bring them in till after the 6N? Maybe they're waiting for us to fall flat on our faces again so they have an excuse to boot some people out.

Indeed. 1 and 2 are completely obvious. We always make a meal out of scoring tries and taking opportunities, and yet we never seem to tire of dishing out freebies to the opposition.
I would have included restarts well ahead of drop goals, and as you both say, creating more opportunities and being bolder with ball in hand would be top of the list.
Can't help feel adding to the team rather than replacing is to save Townsend's blushes.

Well if it's an advisor they're looking for then I guess the role is perfectly suited to Graham Henry coming in on a part-time basis. That could work for both parties (and persuade Sean Maitland where his true calling lies).
Things are starting to sound alot more pro-active at the SRU. Good signs.

If Henry rated Guildford higher than Maitland, hes never going to champion his cause to us.

He hasn't seen Nikki Walker in defence yet, Danielli pass a rugby ball nor Lamont under the high ball. One day at the training ground and he'll be begging Maitland to join!!
