606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
Hello All,
Many of you may not know me but I am currently at the top of the UCPL Championship (I know, I'm great) and I'm also a long time reader/ infrequent poster on this forum. However, with the year 2011 drawing to a close, I thought it was time to conduct our year-end awards as follows for the boxing community:
P4P Number 1 poster of the Year:
WUM of the Year:
Thread of the Year:
Funniest thread of the Year:
606v2 Lifetime award:
Disclaimer: the above can be tongue in cheek, but please do not let this descend into complete chaos.

Re: 606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
Poster: Scottrf. The guy seems to deliver the breaking news, and although the majority of his posts are tongue in cheek, he has a profound knowledge of the current game and the 606v2 board.
WUM: Waingro steals it for me. Whenever a poll is required, this guy is ready to produce it! A legend in the current game and has over taken the likes of Spring and D4 who have somewhat disappeared from the board.
Thread of the Year: Without doubt, Captain's 606v2 Hall of Fame thread has been superb. UCPL a close second.
Funniest Thread of the Year: Has to be School's project's picture thread. The actual name eludes me right now- but some of those Microsoft paint images where hilarious.
606V2 Lifetime award: Has to go to Windy. Without question, a great poster on the board and his efforts as an admin to facilitate the board are much appreciated.

Got to think the Hall of Fame one will romp it, however just for a bit of variety I massively enjoyed the Dempsey Wills thread, got some excellent debate going and is a subject I personally find fascinating but suspect it will come a good distance behind the HOF and probably deservedly so

Re: 606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
P4P Number 1 poster of the Year: Manos de Peidra, the man should be a lawyer. He could convince me that my name wasn't Alex.
WUM of the Year: Azania, his comeback has been short, but already he has made me say "WHAT!?" more times than Waingro (Although an hornourable mention should be given to him) His arguements are much better and more varied than Waingro's in my opinion, but still winds me up. (Also another honourable mention should be given to Trussman66)
Thread of the Year: Women Troubles by AlexHuckerby - You know you all loved it.
Funniest thread of the Year: Strictly Come Dancing Thread - it was as gay as the day is long, but the idea of the thread managed to get Rowley and Tino to unite and create some hilarious banter.
606v2 Lifetime award: Fists of Fury, the guy is "under rated imo" and his "quality" of posts are great, a nice chap to get along with and has managed to ecure good Q&A answers sessions. (Union Cane would have stood more of a chance if he wasn't so hurtful to me.)
Don't let this thread descend into anarchy and respect the guy by answering properly guys, come on.

I would just like you guys to take a look at this
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A43787000
I invented TRASHTALK and 606 AWARDS.
P4P number 1 poster: Has to be AlexHuckerby the guy is on this 24hrs a day 365 days a year. I really worry about his private life,
WUM: This may surprise you but rowly wins my vote. I think he is having a mid life crisis.
BEST THREAD: Any thing from TRUSS he always delivers, ahead of his time.
606 LIFETIME AWARD: I have been here longer then most. Only DAVE, rowley and TRUSSMAN have been here longer.

Re: 606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
P4P Number 1 poster of the Year: Colonial Lion - new addition to the board but crikey what knowledge the man possesses, and he has caused me to change my mind several times on the HoF thread through his fine arguments. Just outworked Captain Carrantuohil who came a close 2nd.
WUM of the Year: Azania - he cannot be serious with some of the old timer comments he conjures up.
Thread of the Year: The Captain's 606v2 Hall of Fame without a shadow of a doubt. The greatest thread of all time, let alone 2011.
Funniest thread of the Year: Forget the name of it, but one where we all went pun-mad, which was entertaining as ever.
606v2 Lifetime award: Trussman keeps knocking out those articles of his that inspire debate and some thought (regardless of whether they're re-runs of old articles).

Re: 606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
P4P Number 1 poster of the Year: Windmill - cause he will provide logic to almost all his arguements other then with Greb because we all know he's the biggest conspiracy in boxing and never actually existed
WUM of the Year: Coxy0001 - am surprised he hasn't stuck his ore in on this thread yet for some attention which is a shame because he was never this bad on BBC 606
Thread of the Year: I like the Documentary thread in the Vault
Funniest thread of the Year: The when where people argued that Foreman would actually beat Lewis.....
606v2 Lifetime award: Chris05 / Rowley

Re: 606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
Probably a bit soon for a lifetime achievement award, although Windy, Fists, Union and Oxring have excelled themselves in their dual roles of contributors and administrators/moderators.
Of the posters here, the good easily outweigh the bad. People like Chris, Manos, Ghosty, John B Wayne, Prettyboykev, Galveston Giant, Jeff, Bob, Scott, Shah, Milkyboy, Trussman and many others are always required reading, I find. However, I'm with Fists here - Colonial Lion really does take the business to new heights. Learning is what this this board should be all about, and CL has taught me more than anyone about boxing over the past few months, I'd say.
I'm not sure that the WUM of the year deserves any more air time than he already gets. There are still a few of them around, all of whom need to take more advantage of care in the community than is currently the case.
The threads are too difficult to sort out. Several have made me chuckle, loads have made me think, but union's prediction table is such a herculean feat of admin and patience that he undoubtedly deserves the palm for thread of the year.

Presumably you mean Shahenshah and not Shah the John Murray hate from the old 606?
And as for the other line
Re: 606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
Yes indeed, Fists, shahenshah is the man. I'd forgotten about the other one, much as the world has tended to blank smallpox and tuberculosis from its mind over the past few decades or so.

Re: 606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
Am always loath to do these things as there are so many people worthy of mention you are nigh on sure to forget someone and cause offence but would have to go with the general consensus and give a mention to Colonial Lion who has made me question some of my picks on the HOF thread in ways I would not have thought possible, and also the captain for showing the necessary patience when I do so.
As for the others, whilst I am still smarting over the disappearance of the strictly thread, would have to say the moderation team do a admirable job, particularly when many peoples, myself included, ingrained immaturity surfaces on here.

P4P Number 1 poster of the Year: Tough one between Rowley, Manos, Colonial, Captain, Chris and Windy their knowledge at times is amazing but I need to go for Windy just for the effort he put into this place when it was first up and running.
WUM of the Year: Waingro how many names has the guy had now? Quality imo LOL! Honourable mention for Coxy.
Thread of the Year: Easy one this Hall of fame thread by a mile. Ghosty's thread on the murders row guys last week was another that was superb.
Funniest thread of the Year: The strictly thread. Camp as Christmas but good fun.
606v2 Lifetime award: Second vote for Windy. A lot of posters on this site would be banned if it wasn't for the old fellas great work.

Re: 606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
Kev, Windy has the ability to be P4P #1 poster, for sure, however I can't help but feel that the actions of a certain few (most of which are thankfully no longer with us) have caused him to spend more time moderating than contributing, and that is a massive shame. The addition of Union to the boxing moderation team has helped lighten the load somewhat, and things are certainly in an improved state of late.
Re: 606V2 Boxing Community Awards 2011
True but if it wasn't for Windy the wrong people may have been banned and the boxing section on this forum wouldn't be as good as it is today. It's actually one of the best around.

Au contraire, Windy wanted you all out
I jest. I agree, he is a fine judge of character and you can rest assured that the wrong people won't be removed. We know where the problems lie (or lay), and you'll notice the debate is a heck of a lot better since one or two strategic removals were put into effect.

What about giving Az the "Jump the Shark Award for taking an argument too far".
The Ruiz beats Tunney comment cleared said shark, 5 double decker buses and sailed through a blazing hoop (fnar fnar) before landing perfectly.

I think the Jump the Shark Award may be fairly hotly contested in reality. But I can't argue that the bookmakers have installed Azania as the odds on favourite.

Both mighty leaps, however, paled into insignificance compared with his continent jumping, leviathan-leaping epic; that Jack Johnson had flawed fundamentals.

Can't pick a p4p poster of the year/lifetime achievement award - however - the major names have already been mentioned - Colonial Lion, Rowley, the Captain, Windy, Fists - have all put a lot into the forum and contributed greatly to the collective knowledge of the board.
WUM of the year: Azania, delighted though I am that he's back, he's also the first person to make me lose my cool online in about 3/4 years. I salute you sir.
Thread of the year: Obviously the hall of fame, the prediction lounge a close second. Honourable mention to Azania's 50 fighters who whip Rocky Marciano, which dragged on for a full week if I remember aright.

Both mighty leaps, however, paled into insignificance compared with his continent jumping, leviathan-leaping epic; that Jack Johnson had flawed fundamentals.
Did Azania say that?
He did. I nearly cried.
That's hilarious.

P4P Number 1 poster of the Year: Between Tino and Rowley as they both make me giggle like a school girl and touch myself in naughty places.
WUM of the Year: Trussman
Thread of the Year: Strictly - I know it was mine but I enjoyed reading it each day and I feel it actually brought us together in a camper way than I ever knew possible.
Funniest thread of the Year: A few to choose from, I'd go for one of the Primetime ones after the tie in.
606v2 Lifetime award: Windy - purely because he has lived longer than the rest of us put together.

Poster of the year. - Manos. Too much knowledge that I bet he watches insects fight.
WUM - Human windmill. No one can be that old and have their faculties together.

P4P Number 1 poster of the Year: Difficult one! Windy, captain, Manos, Rowley, Jimmy, Galveston, Ghosty, Scott and a few others, all consistent as ever. However, I'll plump for Colonial Lion. Some superb tussles with him.
WUM of the Year: Tino, by a mile.
Thread of the Year: Captain's Hall of Fame, again by a mile.
Funniest thread of the Year: School Project's artwork thread.
606v2 Lifetime award: Windy, of course. Something of a 'leader' amongst the boxing posters on v2!

Good point, Ox.
I forgot funniest thread!
Who was that fellow who posted an obnoxiously worded thread about how easily Wlad would dismantle Ali at 67? He then proceeded to hurl insults at anybody who responded, even if the responses were respectful. Months after he came back to the thread, having thought up some razor sharp come backs...
That one made me chuckle.

Yup, on V2.
Hmm, has V2 existed long enough for it to have been months between his appearances? Maybe my sense of drama elongated the saga...
