What position would you play?
Always an interesting one!
If you could play any position in the NFL, what would it be? Not necessarily for a specific team but what position do you think you'd be best at?
Me? I reckon i'd be a good safety. I've always played fullback in rugby and really enjoyed being the last line of defence. Sink or swim I guess. Plus there's nothing like running onto a WR from 20 yards who's looking the other way and thinking he's wide open.... BOOYA! Pick up your helmet.
How many people are going to say QB I wonder...

I'm not fast enough, but I'd like to play WR or CB.

I'd love to be a defensive end. Getting paid to hurt pretty-boys that are a lot smaller than you. Now THAT'S a job.

It may sound weird but if I was strong enough I'd love to play on the punt and kick coverage teams. Those guys just run at people as fast as they can and look to be having a helluva lot of fun out there

Dont they just put in the Linebackers, Safetys and Cornerbacks that are way down on the depth chart?

Starting out for the Manchester Titans Juniors. Last year i can play for the Juniors so it'll help ease me in before I play with the seniors

Is that a Britball team? Our first home game is a local derby against Bristol on the 20th. Can't wait! Go Warriors!

They play in the BAFA Leagues. Weve got a scrimmage against Lancashire before a trip to Leeds for the first game.

Most of the time that's the case, but there are guys like Kassim Osgood, Corey Graham and former Giant David Tyree who became solely special teams players bar the odd specific play on offense/defense.

I'd love to see Polomalu running onto a punt returner from 50 yards.

Would love to play linebacker, have the weight but not the height , and I played flanker for my rugby team so would probably be the closest position to it.

Tight End surely?!

Hmm possibly but flankers like me are never going to create separation from a defender .. O line sounds good all of a sudden

In the moments I consider heading down to the International Athletics Stadium to try out for the Bedfordshire Blue Raiders I think Linebacker would best suit me, maybe Fullback or Tight End. I'm average height and average speed but I think I would handle myself well in those positions.

I've played quarterback for The Manchester Midnight back in the late 90's.... Natural leader with a bullet arm as well as being ice cool under pressure... If I'd of been a yank I'd of had a shot at making it

Kicker, always the hero or villain. paid well but not getting hit too much. If not Linebacker, I like the idea of hitting others. Sacking a quaterback must be as good a feeling as scoring a TD.

I'm not particularly tall, but I'm pretty strong and would probably enjoy being used as a human battering ram. Running back for me I think-

You can't say it isn't a dream to throw that winning TD in a Superbowl
but realistically I'd go for linebacker. Got some weight but not tall enough. Would let that put me off though

I'm about 6 4 quite long arms, average speed, good awareness and instincts. Any idea where I would play?

Running back would be my preferred choice. I'm only 5' 5 though, so won't be powerful enough.

Maurice Jones-Drew is only 5'7" mate and there aren't many RBs that I'd choose over him!

I played in the opening years of the Budweiser League (now known as BAFA) for the London Capitals wearing 80. I started out as a RB but once I learnt to catch the pumpkin I began playing WR although I loved playing out of a wishbone O.

Yeah. I suppose it's just a matter of mental attitude. I used to play Rugby when younger, but just got too intimidated by bigger opponents, chickened out lol.

What year you start? Played with various Midlands teams before winding up at the Bulls at the end of the 90's.
Played primarily QB, but good hands and decent speed when I was younger (a lot younger), so I'd probably go for WR or TE, as I'm probably too short to play NFL QB.

Re: What position would you play?
I used to play Safety for the Strathmore Scorpions youth team, which was run by US air men from the local air base. The juniors were aged 13-18 and I was 12 but they lied about my age so I could play.
I was not very good, I was 12 years old up against 18 year old Glaswegian running backs, got steam rolled over every time but it was a good laugh.

I played first 2 years of the league, but we played friendlies (mainly tag football) the year before the league started - I can't remember the year, but I believe it was the year Touchdown magazine started.

I would love to play CB or WR. WR is probably easier once you get the routes and catching thing down. As for CB, through the years, I've respected the position more now that teams are coming up with these innovative pass offenses. It makes me also think..
Do you think the NFL should modify or bring back old rules of playing defense?

Re: What position would you play?
Never had the opportunity to play the game unfortunately and I'm too old now !
I played football to a decent standard as a centre back and often man marked so I think I'd have been suited at corner though I did adopt the 'though shall not pass' approach so could have been flagged a few times !
I'd have enjoyed playing safety as well I think.

Re: What position would you play?
When I played Britball back in the 80s - I did a stint at cornerback, but always preferred playing safety, I also played full back which was fun - but the position I wanted to play was linebacker - but wasn't big enough - I used to play it during practice, when the larger lads were doing other drills - and I just loved it !
But at my age, like WhiteCamry - Owner sounds good !

When playing for last couple of years, i've played offensive lineman, defensive lineman, tight end, wide receiver, linebacker inside and out, cornerback, safety, special teams and kicker and punter.
Loved all of them but would have to say in the nfl kicker/ punter would be what i want half a million a year for kicking a ball through the posts or punting it 60 yards down the field :D:D:D

Cherries, I don't think I really have the speed to be a constant deep threat, but it hasn't really been sorted yet we've only learnt a handful of routes.

Played flanker at school, so probably linebacker or safety. Wouldnt mind being a hybrid backer in a 3-4 system, think Clay Matthews....only better

BOOOOOOOOOO.
not a fan of Hull. we had a preseason scrimmage booked against them last year, we forced the uni to mark out our pitch 2 weeks early, organised food at our sponsor bar etc etc... and two days before, they called up and cancelled saying "we don't think we're ready". what bull - if that were true, that would have been known at least a week in advance, you don't make that decision two days before.
grr.
used to play O-line, but I sorta messed up my spine, so not playing again for at least a few more years, if ever. if I do play again, it will have to be at a much lower weight (coz the spine wouldn't be able to take the weight AND the impact), so i'd probably switch to linebacker. which would be pretty damn fun. won't be any time soon tho.
