I was playing for West Hartlepool U18s at the time against a touring school from Leicester which was mainly Tigers acadamy players and North of England players we got twonked in short.
I was playing openside at the time and covering my 10s inside shoulder and he came charging up off his wing and took the short pop and ran over the top of me and towards the try line.

I don't envy you for having to try and tackle him. He's a machine, and I can't believe he's still only 20. That'll be a hell of a story to tell the grand kids!

I played for Percy Park as the local invitational side inthe Newcastle 7's.
We played Newcastle (tony underwood etc) , Leicester and Saints( who had a certain Tim Rodber playing for them....
We actually did pretty well....and scored the try of the tourney...and my claim to fame is i tackled Rodber coming head on at me....

Holy smokes, I am away for a day and this goes off the charts. You guys are awesome.
Regarding your earlier comment about me being biased against opposing teams if I am on medical duty, I was going to object strongly, citing medical oaths and all that. But, in fact, I have to agree. I have always thought a hearty dose of a muscle relaxant adminsitered to the opposing team's pre match meal would be a real kick in the pants..........
Yes, I prefer playing inside centre, but can play at 10 in a pinch.B91212 wrote:I'm English and defiantly a back 5 forward but I did play hooker once so you could put me there again I suppose. Otherwise happy to be on the bench
For the English 12 go Doctor_Grey (he can play 10 as well from his earlier post).

Am sure I've forgotten loads of people, or have got them all in the wrong position, so let me know and I can edit it out. We still need a bench too!
i will cover backrow on bench ussually a 6 but can cover 7,8 or if desperate second row

Re: 606v2 User XV
On the flip side, we have a friend who tells the story of a school match. Blues most useful/dangerous player went down with an injury. One of the Red parents runs onto the pitch and examines him. Lots of tutting, sucking of teeth and shaking of head follows. Then he says that the Blue player must be taken to hospital immediately.
Thing is, the Red parent had not so much as a first aid badge from the Scouts to qualify him to make any such judgment! Everyone just assumed he was a doctor!
Got away with it too!

Glas a du, where do you think 'England rugby fan' would fit into this? As a waterboy or the guy who is hated enough by both teams to recieve 29 shoe-ings! (doesn't have to be on the wrong side or even on the floor). You know what chuck in the ref and touch judges studs for good measure aswell!
*EDIT: Glas, this was actually meant for Gatts. I keep getting you guys mixed up...

Re: 606v2 User XV
Started out at hooker now at preferred position blindside, can cover 7 or 8 thou if needed.
6ft 15st11lb 32 years old pretty fast over 20 yards, 100meters in 12 seconds not bad for size and age.
Called it a day last year but will come out if retirement for 606 team.
Good hands and can kick to a good standard out of hand, strong in the tackle and im ashamed to admit this after all the cheating jibes i throw at Irish rugby but im pretty good at obstruction and spoiling opposing ball at the break down,
Weakness in discipline,i.e if a back has me for pace i may go in with a high tackle.
So can i make the team?

Late arrival to this thread, Hooked for my local team from the age of 7 to the age of 22. ACL damage forced my retirement. However I am nearly finished my IRB examinations in preperation to start coaching.

Jeez Radge, Real sorry an ACL would take you out of the game at 22. No other options at this point? The operation is not so bad anymore, but you do need to rehab quite well.
On the plus side, we do need coaches for our teams! We have beaucoup players, but no one giving direction. Unless someone tells us where to go and what to do, we might start drinking early...........
