Week 16 discussion thread
Giants leading 20-7 and putting the Bengals ahead of, and the Titans and Raiders tied with, the Jets.
My Tweet of the Day goes to a US based Patriots fan: @NewYorkJetsSuck: If you're not making playoffs I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but the Jets ain't one. #JetsSuck

Are you prescient? At the time of posting, the Bears weren't eliminated. Of course they were going up against the Packers!
Looks like Brady's TD record is safe given they'll likely rest Rodgers. Reckon Brees could break Marino's yardage record with a game to spare. If the Saints win tonight, it makes week 17 virtually irrelevant in the NFC - couldn't care who wins the NFC East as neither will go far in the playoffs.

I thought with the Bears at 7-7 and the only team they could could catch (Atlanta) have to lose twice, and they have the Bucs next week.
I reckon the Giants could dispatch of the Lions if they get the 5th seed, bit more 50-50 vs the Falcons but I think we could easily get into the Divisional round. If we get that far we'll most likely be travelling to Green Bay.
Marino's record is going tonight. I'm predicting a Saints-Patriots Super Bowl.

I hope you're right on both counts!

If the play offs stay as they look now then the Bengals will surely fancy themselves against the Texans.

Re: Week 16 discussion thread
niners looked a little lazy against seattle in the 1st half, they can get away with that against teams like seattle because they have the edge in talent but that might not be the case in the playoffs, they need the offense to play consistently like the defense all the time. Also want to add that im gutted for A.D, he was the main reason i got interested in the NFL, before his rookie year in 2007, I watched rarely, he was the first jersey I bought as well. A torn acl and mcl may mean that he will never be the same player which is a shame. But on a lighter note, the titans can still make the playoffs.

DEFINATLY THE BEST TEAM SEATTLE HAVE COME UP AGAINST THIS YEAR (damn cap lock), did u watch the game, turnovers was always gonna win it even if it was 1-0.
"dont think either back will get near 100yrds"
how wrong can i be!
just out of interest, i dont usually watch the 49ers, watch there rush D under its usual rate of beastyness, or was beast mode too much for them and did they taste the rainbow.
botched play on the goaline

Re: Week 16 discussion thread
i think lynch is a scary running back so I don't think the rush D was any worse than usual, that being said he isn't the most elusive so I think thats why they got to grips with him as the game went along. Also jackson moves around well and apart from vick and mccoy early in the season, we haven't come up against a team who has a mobile qb and really good rb so maybe that opened up the lanes for lynch.

Re: Week 16 discussion thread
IMO its was the fact our passing game died in the second half making our running game more preicable, in the first half we got short passes on 1st down makingg 2nd down short, 2nd half it was run runrun all the time on 1st down! come on bevell!!!!,
still said i still dont trust smith as a good NFL QB,

Re: Week 16 discussion thread
he isn't a top qb but he has been clutch when it matters and his decision making this season has been great, not a lot realise he is a good athlete, i'd put him as one of the 10 most athletic qb's in the league. If the niners win a playoff game, I think smith has to be seen as a legit good qb, as regardless of having the best D in the league, he is going to have to put up over his usual 18- 24pts range against really good teams

Re: Week 16 discussion thread
how are you feeling about the qb situation in Seattle, I think they have done well this season and put themselves out of the running for any good qb's in the draft. Do you think they will keep jackson or look for someone else, he hasn't really done that bad

Re: Week 16 discussion thread
think we might take a QB late 1st round and stick him behind T-Jax for a season.

Re: Week 16 discussion thread
i'd like to see manning at the hawks, I think with a good quaterback that teams is ready to go fairly deep into the playoffs, all the other pieces seem to be coming into place (if Rice can get and stay fit it could be an awesome combo, plus Baldwin is showing promise and a healthy Zach Miller could be scary with Manning throwing to him).
