606 losing its charm?
I used to love the old BBC 606 especially when there was a big match on TV and there were up to the minute replies. One could feel the pain if a major rival scored. I have recently joined this new 606v2 and it is a great idea but I see days go by with very few comments. Any reason why it is moving at glacier speed?

Usually when there's a match on, there's a chat box open which is more active than the forums

Re: 606 losing its charm?
When the forum was set up the football sections were not targeted by this site which prefered to bring in the community's from other sports so that the site wasn't taken over by football fans in the beginning.
Now, it's up to you lot as posters to get this site busy, there are enough football fans on here to have this site busy, but for some reason a lot are scared because of the reputation 606 left of football fans being unwelcoming.
If you want this site to be better, post new topics, make posts and match threads etc. Tell your friends about the site, tell people on other sites who would be interested. If you're into other sports, go into those sections as well.
Hope this has helped.

Re: 606 losing its charm?
Couple of reasons:
One its Xmas time and the boards are just a little quieter over the last few days.
And secondly, we usually have a live chat box on for live games - its at the bottom of the home page.
As Invincible leak said though, the football section is suffering from a chicken and egg scenario. People dont post because there are not many topics to discuss. Its up to everyone to make the first move.

Re: 606 losing its charm?
is there any chance that the 'who do you want your club to buy in the transfer window' to move to the main part of the football section, or should i create one for the championship part of the section?

The football board has never been particularly active on 606v2, it's always been a bit on the slow side and days can go past without much happening.
Also, many have the golf posters disbanded.

Re: 606 losing its charm?
I think there's quite a lot of 606v2 posters who joined mainly because of another sport - and who perhaps do a bit of posting on football from time to time. I think, as mentioned above, the whole forum has quietened down for a few days over Christmas. Which is probably a good sign that it is not entirely populated by the socially inept and nerds.
Also, bear in mind that total number of members of 606v2 is about 3,600. It's been growing steadily, tho' no doubt with some wastage along the way. So in many sports that's not necessarily enough (yet) to sustain detailed discussion of individual clubs. It you take cricket for example, apart from a good gaggle of Surrey supporters many of the best discussions are on broader topics - internationals, topical cricket issues, compilation of best ever teams etc, etc where its easier for lots of people to participate. At it's best very educational with excellent banter -which only occasionally gets out of hand.....
