Radiator Leak FIXED Empty Radiator Leak FIXED

Post by ShahenshahG Tue 10 Jan 2012, 2:24 pm

Good afternoon - I was wondering if you could help.

Astra G W Reg 1.7Dti

I have had trouble with this but onliy recently found the leak.Once I block this with some tissue - there are no other leaks and the coolant in the reserve tank does not diminish.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-1-7-DTI-ZAFIRA-1-7-DTI-RADIATOR-NEW-/290600317882?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a920f3ba

If you can take a look at the picture of the radiator - on the top left corner is a stub that protudes diagonally downwards - whenever the radiator is full - the water/coolant tends to leak out of that stub. I was wondering if some pipe had disconnected or it was a drain pipe and needed a cap?

Nearest garage is about 25 minutes away - car over heats in 10ish minutes

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Do you find a solution to this problem?

Had a similar thing happen with my radiator last week. When I add some coolant it seems to overflow from the stub as well.
Drives me nuts... is this supposed to happen?

Check for a loose pipe.

OK... that must be it I'd say. Ta.
I've been hearing some rattling whilst driving around the traps lately!
