Who Fixed The Draw? Empty Who Fixed The Draw?

Post by hawkeye Mon 07 May 2012, 9:02 am

Of all the players from all the lands there is one player that must prompt Nadal to tremble with fear. There is only one player who has beaten Nadal more often than Nadal has beaten them. This player has won their last 4 matches. Nadal's last win over this player came in the dim and distant past (2009) and should probably be discounted as I have a feeling Nadal wouldn't have got the win if his opponant didn't have a bit of a cold...

Nadal has to face none other than his true nemesis Davydenko in his first match on the blue clay of Madrid. Who fixed the draw? I have a sneaky suspicion Djokovic and/or Federer had something to do with it... I've also noticed Federer has a little smug smile everytime he talks about blue clay too...

We're in Madrid. It's clay.

Their surface h2h might therefore be more significant than the overall tally. On the red, sorry ....blue .... stuff, it's 3-0 to Rafa. Que sorpresa ! Rolling Eyes

But if anyone really believes Davy can take this one, then William Hill will give you a generous 12/1.

On the other hand : put £50 on Rafa and look forward to a tempting return of .... er .... £1. Should he somehow scrape a win. Yes, that's one pound.

Who is fixing the draws? I think it is an evil alliance of uncle of toni and the freemasons, possibly in cahoots with guy forget and the french federation. Fact, uncle toni visits paris every year. Fact, freemasons are located in paris as the Dan Brown books state. Fact, Guy Forget french federation guy is also in paris at the same time as the above two individuals or organizations. Its the unholy trilogy of uncle toni, forget, and the masons. They are responsible for rigging the draws against Djoko.

But in this case the draw looks pretty "rigged" against Rafa. I'm sure Uncle Toni and the freemasons could have come up with a much easier first round (for him) opponant than his nemesis Daveydenko...

Haddie-nuff. From your link.

“He has less confidence against me on hard court; I have beaten him more times there,” acknowledged the Russian. With the exception of two round robin matches at the circuit finale, this will be the first time that Davydenko and Nadal are meeting prior to a quarter-finals of an ATP World Tour event.

“For most players the first round is the most difficult,” said Davydenko. “It doesn’t matter if it’s Djokovic, Federer or Nadal. For all players it will be a different fight because for every match you are fighting, you start to feel more confident. In the semi-final or final it is much tougher because he feels very good and he has won matches and it’s very difficult to stop him. The first round, I don’t know.”

I think Davydenko is hoping to catch Nadal cold. The stats show that Davydenko has never beaten Nadal on clay but they have only played three times. The first was in Rome in 2007. Nadal won 7-6 6-7 6-4. Sadly I didn't see it but it looks like it was a very close and exciting match. Also is the blue Madrid "clay" or is it something else?

We don't differentiate between green, blue, purple, etc. hardcourts, so why should the colour of the clay matter?

Let's hope Davydenko can pull off a surprise! His form has been terrible of late...

HE

Strange you should miss out the other part of Davy´s quote chin

On the clay I have never beaten him. He is the best player on clay for sure. That's where he starts to fight and play different tennis. He runs different and it's very tough to beat him on clay.”

Hence my reason for saying Im sure Rafa wont take anything for granted

Davy wont be giving Nadal any problems this year...fast (blue), slippy clay courts or not.

The courts are clay but the iron oxide they normally use in the brick firing process that makes them red has not been added, with blue dye added instead. Clay courts are basically just crushed bricks (in this case blue bricks) - rolled under huge weight with dressing put on top.

I think the iron oxide has been removed, rather than not added.

Careful with using the word 'dressing'. If Tiriac gets wind of this, he'll be putting water cress and mayo on the court next year.

Indeed JHM.
Yes its technically removed from the mix...making white clay(!).
They can then make it any colour they want.
Tiriac says it costs twice as much as a normal clay court to produce.

Some facts about it here: http://sportinglife.aol.co.uk/tennis/news/article/22887/7711642/will-new-clay-give-players-the-blues-

White clay, with orange lines and blue balls. Roll on Madrid 2013!

How can this tournament even go ahead, with no Murray?

Stop the tournament altogether I say.

Who wins this tournament will have an asterisk near their name!

Absolutely, Murray was a shoe-in for the title.
That said, of all clay events this probably would have been Murray's best chance of going far...

I agree. Where ever Murray goes he leaves an assterisk behind him.

If davy is in good shape 12/1 seems far more reasonable than 1/50.

Having now seen these courts in play I believe Davy's chances have just increased by 50% vs pre-event odds! Still think its around 80% chance Nadal wins in 2 tight sets though - for Davy to win he needs to beat him quickly (as he has done in the past).

So who did fix the draw so that Nadal got his nemesis in his first match on this new hybred fast clay surface? Where are all the draw consperators when you need them?
