Re: Greatest Pakistan test XI
Would open with Hanif Mohammed & have Imran as captain, otherwise looks pretty unstoppable. Not a bad pace attack.

Do agree about picking Hanif, though. Possibly Pakistan's best opener, and the man to have if you want to save a test.

Imran Khan was a hell of a lot better, in both formats of the game.

just don't mention aluminium bats...
Some great Pakistani players there.
I'd go along with cf's team but with Hanif in for Saeed.

It's a tough choice. Again a modern v a more classical player. Either one wouldn't look out of place in an all-time side.

Re: Greatest Pakistan test XI
What about the 1987 Pakistan side that toured England being the best ever test XI that Pakistan have fielded:-
1 Mudassar Nazir (Pakistan's 1980's version of Shane Watson)
2 Rameez Raja (Pakistan's answer to a Geoff Boycott type batsman)
3 Shoaib Mohammed
4 Asif Mujtaba (Pakistan's finest ever middle-order left-hander)
5 Mansoor Akhtar
6 Ijaz Ahmed
7 Mansoor Elahi (Pakistan's greatest all-rounder bowling medium pacers)
8 Salim Yousuf (Pakistan's best Wicketkeeper in the 1980's)
9 Saleem Jaffer (One of Pakistan's finest ever tall left arm seamers)
10 Zakir Khan
11 Mohsin Kamal (One of Pakistan's finest right arm seamers)
12th Tauseef Ahmed (Pakistan's best finger spinner in the 1980's)

Re: Greatest Pakistan test XI
he's taking the mickey cf, don't worry
my pakistani all-time XI would look like this BTW
Anwar
Mohammed
Younus Khan
Miandad
Ul Haq
Abbas
Imran Khan
Wasim Bari
Wasim Akram
Abdul Qadir
Waqar Younis
Just four bowlers, but reckon there's more than enough for 20 wickets there.

Mad - as Alfie said first, like your team. Not sure if or where they would fit in but I'd add Hanif's brother Mushtaq Mohammed and Saqlain Mushtaq to the squad.

Saqlain had a great run. Then he got "figured out" at international level (joys of video analysis), hence why his international career finished rather young.cricketfan90 wrote:qadir IMO was much better than Saqlain.

Kiwi - injury also played a part with Saqlain.
Saqlain's greatness is probably best shown by helping hoodwink the England selectors into believing that his Surrey slow bowling partner Ian Salisbury was Test class. So many of Solly's wickets were due to the batsmen losing concentration when so relieved not to be facing Saqy.
