Hoping for a Gloucester win from an Ulster point of view.

Big game for quins. Close to our top side and with Evans back we should get the win.
No Smith or Stegman though? Thought they have both looked sharp.

That flick from Evans in the build up to the Hopper try was beautiful

Burns is having a real mixed game so far, some great moments followed by poor.

This is gut wrenching...
If Harlequins lose this what has Robshaw done not taking 3 points infront of the posts....

If quins was going to score a try in this game, it had to come from Mike Brown.
Well played Quins, might not of been a high scoring game but Glaws gave one hell of a scare.

Re: Quins v Glaws - teams and banter
Not a bad game. Pleased for Quins but Glaws pushed them all the way. No idea why Robshaw didn't opt for the 3-pointer but it worked out in the end.
Jeez, May is quick!
Hope Glaws play like they did against Toulouse in the first game to give Quins a helping hand Still, Quins look good for a 1/4 place anyway with any sort of win over Connacht don't they?

4 point against Connacht and they could still fail to qualify, in fact even 5 from Connacht and they could fail, but thats very unlikely.

Yeah, you're right.Artful_Dodger wrote:4 point against Connacht and they could still fail to qualify, in fact even 5 from Connacht and they could fail, but thats very unlikely.
Edinburgh/Cardiff or Clermont/Ulster could still pip them as best second placers in that situation. There are some tense final games coming up. I'm not writing off Connacht being a really tough test either

Although i agree with what you are saying, i think Robshaw was looking for a penalty try.
Still maybe it taught him a lesson, dont assume that you will get a try and go for the 3 points. Even if your trusted kicker is having a mare.

Re: Quins v Glaws - teams and banter
I think Robshaw had probably got a bit carried away as for the first time in... forever we actually had a dominant scrum and an opposition pack on the rack, sadly didn't use it though.
Haven't had a chance to say it but well done Glos, it was a tough game and you really made us work for it!
Quins like a few other lighter teams seem to be going through their winter dip in form, hopefully we'll get back on track soon though either during the 6N's or before then.

May running away from Monye from behind the posts was amazing.

Yea I don't know why Monye stopped chasing!
I was shouting at the tv by that point, does May play FB often, as he looked very comfy then. Saying that I wish Evans and Brown and kicked at him more.

Re: Quins v Glaws - teams and banter
How did I miss this thread?!
Yappy, May is still very new to FB and I was very surprised you didn't pepper him with up and unders. Bizarelly no side has done this in any game he has played at FB, which isn't many! With Morgan out for the season he is going to get an extended run there, which will definitely help improve his defence, but also give him the space to find gaps. And thanks for your kind words about us, it makes a refreshing change to leave The Stoop without the flush of humiliation!
We obviously need to wait to see what side is announced, but everything that is being said is that we are treating this Friday night's game very seriously, so hopefully we'll do you a favour

+1. Was quick thinking as well. He knew he hadn't a hope of getting a kick away and knew if he was caught he'd only give away the same scrum as if he has dotted it done. Back himself and got his team out of a hole. Would have liked to see him drive the ball down the pitch with the boot rather than take contact on the edge of the 22 but otherwise that was awesome bit of pace and awareness.

I was very keen for May to be given an EPS spot on the back of his ability to cover 12-15. Coupled with his impact ability, to my mind he makes for a excellent no.22.

Didn't that happen to Tait though and look how he turned out?

Whilst he has and can play 12, he's not very effective there as there simply isn't the space he needs. Similarly, he's only real fault is his defensive line and he'd be found out at 12. Long term I'm sure he'll be a back 3 player.

Re: Quins v Glaws - teams and banter
12 may not be his best position, but he can play there and has done a number of times, unlike some of the other likely no.22 candidates in the EPS, Brown (only really covers FB), Strettle (only wing), Goode (can cover FH, but in truth only FB). The other options who could cover centre like JTH, Trinder & Farrell would be poor cover for the back three.
There's no player currently in the EPS with decent experience of covering midfield and the back three, and Sharples (likely to start) is the only player who you could claim is decent at even covering the whole back three.
Are you suggesting that every utility back will have the same career as Tait yappysnap?

I'd hope no more promising England players have that level of bad luck with injuries. Tigers could really do with him fit and ready to play.

Yes, he made a mistake at the end, but he'll learn from that. You can't learn that type of pace.
Given he has decent distribution I think he'd be wasted on the wing. His pace is probably wasted at 12, which means 13 or 15 for me long-term.

Whenever i've seen him play i've always thought he was too skinny for internationals, is he actually really skinny or am I just assuming this as he's so damn quick?

He is quite skinny (but then everyone is compared to me!) but he is deceptively physical, a bit like Charlie Sharples. He will nearly always get over the gain line and his is good at clearing out rucks too!
