Quins v Glaws
The teams are up for tomorrow’s game between Quins and Glaws. I still have shivers at the thought of last year’s match at the Stoop, however, LV come down and spiked oranges were to blame...
There is a lot of promising youth on both sides and the clash between Lowe and Trinder will be extremely exciting. I’d also be surprised if any other game played this weekend in the Jeff has more English players.
Quins are favourites with home advantage. I would be happy with a losing bonus point, but I can cope with another loss as long as it is not another thrashing!
QUINS
Brown, Smith, Lowe, Turner-Hall, Monye, Evans, Dickson; Lambert, Gray, Fairbrother, Kohn, Robson, Robshaw (c), Wallace, York
Reps:
Brooker, Marfo, Johnston, Matthews, Trayfoot, Bolt, Clegg, Walker
GLAWS
Morgan, Sharples, Trinder, Vainikolo, Voyce, Burns, Runciman; Wood, Charles, Harden, Savage, Brown, Buxton (c), Cox, Deacon
Reps:
Dawiduik, Murphy, Chistolini, Lyons, Evans, Robson, Taylor, May

Re: Quins v Glaws
Voyce doesn't hold the fear he once held!
In his first season with us, he was truly awful. He showed no desire to play or be part of the team. Full credit to him, as by the end of his 2nd season he was an integral player in our squad and had put in a number of very impressive performances (a 2 try scoring effort against Bath to name but one!).
All Glaws fans would rather have Sinbad on the wing, but as he is not available, Voyce offers some much needed experience to our backline.

21 out of Quins 23 players are Eng qualified, 10 of the starting line up from our academy. Nice.
HongKong, I am hoping for a mahusive win over you boys!! But in reality I think it'll be close and I have a worrying sence of foreboding about this game, why am I expecting a home loss??
Looking forward to watching:
Brown v Morgan
Smith v Sharples
Lowe v Trinder
And the two big men... JTH v Lesley
All should be interesting battles.
Quins by 5 (or Gloucester by 5)

Well we have a good team out, on viewing the Saints game we should at least perform well. We should have won that game really and if we perform well against Quins have a chance. The pack looks good and if that back line fires with the likes of sharps, Tridns and Morgs not to mention Burns playing we could do well.
Lets hope we keep the mistakes to a minimum and play well. Still Quins are the the likely winners and Evans could well be the difference.
On a side note I think that Big Les has played very well at 12 since the start of the season, thoughts?

yappy, just just beat us: 9 from the academy and 20 English players! Combined that is oustanding that 46 players will be on show and 41 are English - a great advert for the game.
Maybe it is last year's game that is clouding my judgement, but I'm not confident ahead of tomorrow. I think we'll lose by 10. But I'm often wrong...
nww we have a young pack that lacks experience, but one that I feel a lot of sides will take for granted. All the players have been crediting the impact of John Brain and certainly from the first 2 games our pack has been very good, especially at the scrum. It is good to have Browner back too as we missed his lineout management against Worcester.
I do think Les has played well for us so far, but he is playing like a wing playing IC! Some of his positioning is a bit wayward, but in general he is holding the fort quite nicely.

yappy
I said I'd be happy as long as we weren't thrashed again, so I'm pig sick at the moment! We can make excuses about players out, etc but Glaws were comprehensively outplayed. The scoreline did not flatter Quins at all.
My positive spin is at least this is at the beginning of the season and a lot of those young players will learn from that experience.

Another season, another thrashing at the stoop. We've had a pretty tough start but two nice easy home games coming up against Barf and Irish :p

There will be a number of players with a rather large point to prove and you couldn't ask for a better game than Bath to do so! I thought Brush's review was very honest and pulled no punches.

Commiserations Gloucester, we seem to have the hoodoo over you boys at the moment!
Sadly couldn't get to the game but another top effort from Luke Wallace, Saxons call up soon?
What happened to your pack? Ours was massively underpowered but sounds like it was dominant all game?
Good luck against Barf, give them a hiding from us!

ps, I think we saw the winners between Lowe and Trinder. He had some lovely touched on the ball and again rock hard in defense. Has to be looking at a Saxons spot soon.

Hersh I didn't know you were a Quins fan.
Don't worry HKC you'll beat Bath. You are almost invincible at home.

Well that was painful, I don't mind when we get beaten, was even happy with the saints result as we at least turned up. Can't quite work out how we can be so aweful at times we get a good pasting!
Anyway looking forward to seeing put things right against the enemy!
Yappy, I am prety sure that Trinder was still injured, ill reserve judgment untill Lowe plays at Kingsholm but I am still sre that Trinder has the edge.

Re: Quins v Glaws
I love how these two clubs are really utilising good young English players. I've kept half an eye out for them for a while because of this. I always wondered what Quins could do if they got their front five sorted out. I know he wasn't playing at the weekend, but the emergence of Joe Marler is a very good sign for the club. The re-emergence of Kohn has also been pretty spectacular too, they just need a bit more depth. Hopefully with guys like the two young props that have been mentioned and Rob Buchanan, Charlie Matthews, Sam Twomey and George Merrick Quin’s can keep promoting from within.

Cheers Cumbrian, the gfront 5's always been our achilles heel but hopefully we're now fixing that. I doubt we'll ever be a Leicester or Saints style pack but we're moving in the right direction.

Re: Quins v Glaws
HERSH, I am just pleased I didn't have the same bet with yappy. Fortunately, the team will ammend for such failure this coming weekend.
yappy, our scrum was also missing a number of players that add the grunt, but that was no excuse for such a lack of intensity. That is what our game is based upon, so it was very disappointing not to turn up. Lowe definitely got the better of Trinder in the game too, nww is right that Trinder has been injured and is not match fit, but you can only play what is in front of you and Lowe was the clear winner... on this occassion!

We'll see next time then, but i'd back our lad Lowe against any 13 out there (in the prem), even the dreaded Tuilagi.
Fingers crossed for a Saxons call up for him soon.

He is definitely right up there. I was very impressed by him last year and it looks like he's continuing the form this year. It can only be good for the English game that we have Lowe, Trinder and Tuilagi.
