Glaws v Quins
Teams are up for tomorrow evening’s clash. Quins have turned well and truly into Glaws’ bogey side and have beaten us in the last 4 outings – 2 of them very convincingly! Glaws’ well known problem is consistency and after a decent showing last week, we desperately need to back it up this week. The Kingsholm fortress factor may seem like it has gone, but we have quietly been chugging alone racking up the home wins so confidence is strong despite our dodgey record against Quins.
Quins have put out a very strong side and have welcomed back a number of players, although I’m sure they’d all prefer to have Mike Brown back rather than warming a bench. Quins have had a dip in form recently, but have started to show signs that they are improving once more.
This is going to be a close, tough game, but my totally unbias view is that Glaws will sneak it by 5...
GLAWS
Jonny May; Charlie Sharples, Henry Trinder, Mike Tindall (capt), James Simpson-Daniel; Freddie Burns, Rory Lawson; Nick Wood, Darren Dawidiuk, Rupert Harden; Will James, Alex Brown; Tom Savage, Akapusi Qera, Matt Cox
Replacements:
Matias Cortese, Dan Murphy, Shaun Knight, Peter Buxton, Brett Deacon, Dave Lewis, Ryan Mills, Tom Voyce
QUINS
Ross Chisholm; Tom Williams, George Lowe, Jordan Turner-Hall, Ugo Monye; Nick Evans, Karl Dickson; Joe Marler, Joe Gray, James Johnston; Ollie Kohn, Tomas Vallejos; Tom Guest, Will Skinner, Nick Easter (capt)
Replacements:
Chris Brooker, Mark Lambert, Tim Fairbrother, Pete Browne, Luke Wallace, Danny Care, Rory Clegg, Matt Hopper

Hi HKC,
I agree Glaws will probably sneak this, but aslong as we get a losing bp I won't be too upset.
As to the teams it's a pretty strong line up we've put out there and only the lack of incisiveness on the wings which may be a problem. i am actually really pleased Dickson's starting as he does up the tempo well and if the forwards get in to you boys like they have been these last few weeks we could get some early scores.
From an England pov the backlines should be interesting to watch. Between them 12 EQ players all looking to play for the national side or have played for the national side.
Trinder v Lowe should be a treat, shame he has Tindalll at 12 for him though.

Hi yappy,
That's not the kind of attitude I want to see from you lot. This is a guaranteed 5 pointer for you - now that's the kind of attitude I want. Don't be prepared for a tough game, it's going to be an easy ride... Is any of this working?
It's a shame that Trinder has been injured twice this season and on both games he comes back to face Lowe, so we've not really seen them go hell for leather against each other. EFS apparently picked up a knock last week, so I'm hoping either Burns' miss pass is spot on or Tindall has learnt to pass, otherwise Trinder won't see much ball!

HKC, we'll take that attitude if you gents will play 'Tins at 10! What say you to that then?
What's your backrow like? Ours at the moment only has one first choice player in it, the other two are an eight covering 6 and Skinner at 7 who's very good but still probably 4th choice. I know your 7 is damn good but haven't really heard of the other two.

Oh and looking at the way Joseph, Manu and Lowe have all played when straight back from injury I expect a big game from Trinder! No excuses now...

You can't rush pedigree...
On the backrow front, ours is the same. Qera is the only first teamer and the others are there due to injury. Savage is a lock and was playing for Hartpury 3rd just over 2 years ago - but he has real talent. He's a hell of a ball carrier and I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually ends up an 8. Matt Cox is a decent up and coming player and will add a bit of grit at the breakdown against Skinner. He's decent in the lineout too. I think you guys probably have the edge though.

That's what I like to hear. It's all about the backrows these days especially for teams like Glos and Quins.
What's the weather forecast for the shire?
Cheers Sam, I was trying to add to the pressure...

Beauty of a morning in the Shire. Would've been a nice afternoon game, hope Glos can rid themselves of the Quins hoodoo.

I imagine it'll be similar to the Eng v Wales U20 game (with Glos playing as Wales).
I can dream can't I?

We may be near Wales, but we are most certainly not Welsh!

Re: Glaws v Quins
What I am looking forward to is Tinds and Easter continuing to prove their point to the England set up that they are not done yet, with a lot of young contenders all over the park striving to impress too. Lowe vs Trinder, May, Burns, Dickson and Care, Hopper and Wallace on the bench and of course Wood vs Marler. Can't wait!

Marler...is learning to scrummage. Time with Rowntree is paying off. Losing the stupid hair is good too.

Especially as it means we got something out of this game. Ballsy kick from Evans for the point, every one counts

I think it's more a case of Johnson learning to scrum.

Great game and huge credit to both sides. Its a shame we didin't get the 4th try, but I'd have taken this result every day of the week prior to the match. Hopefully none of the injuries are too bad... Bring on tigers!

Re: Glaws v Quins
Fantastic game.
I'm now completely convinced that we should move to summer rugby. England has a golden generations of backs coming through, but too many games get bogged down. I want to see grinding sides like Exeter and Sarries forced to change to a more expansive style.
Imagine how many more people would come to watch rugby live if more AP games were like this one.
