Would think due to them putting their eggs in the Saracens basket it will be strettle.
Fail to see what Botha will add he makes about zero metres carrying per game .!decent player but not right balance. Attwood carries a lot better

Botha is probably in there for his defence and power. Strange that his carrying is so poor as he is very strong and powerful in the tight.
he is not a long term option so why not pick attwood or garvey.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
Eggs are most definitely in the Saracens basket and I exepct to see England try to play in a similar manner. The problem with that is that Saracens get a lot of their go forward from the dynamism and power of their back row and Schalk Brits. England will not have that in their armoury and I can see it being a bit fo a struggle against the Scots.
I don't see Scotland scoring tries through their backs with Parks at 10, but their back row is likely to dominate ours physically which is going to make for a pretty shoite game to watch I reckon.

Yeh I can see a low scoring game on the cards, a kicking contest. 15-12 or something rubbish.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
Saracens style could well work for the Scotland and Italy games but going to become seriously unstuck against the other three nations - can't see any line breaks in the pack, nor from our midfield.
Though will be interesting to see how much joy Hodgsons passing gives Foden and Ashton.
Think we are short of ball carriers in that team - don't think any of the Scottish lads will be quaking in fear seeing it at all.
Hope that Lancester wont be afraid of throwing Tuilagi, Wood and Lawes straight back into the fold - even if we perform ok on Saturday!

Would love to see sharples given a start as he is a much better player and also
Much better under the high ball and kicking.
However as
I believe we are going to be dire and the game dire I would rather they not pick sharples and waste him by making him chase kicks all day

Folks
I am in the process of drafting the rules for next season. I know it is some way off, but the rest of this season is likely to fly by, and I want the rules to be clear early on so that people have the opportunity in the summer to make whatever additions/changes to their squads as they see fit.
I am particularly looking at the academies at the moment. I just need to know if this makes sense and everyone would understand how their academy needs to be made up....
So as an example.
I have Christopher Tolofua aged 18 at Saracens. Although he is under 20 he IS NOT at Saracens in rela life so I have to list him in my senior academy.
stnick88 has David Sisi aged 18 at London Irish. He is both under 20 AND at Irish in real life, so stnick does not need to list him as a senior academy player.
However, if he were to move in real life to for example Saracens, then stnick must either promote him to his senior academy or lose him to me. If stnick chose to let him go, he would then be a Saracens player AND still under 20 so would be mine for the purpose of the game but I WOULD NOT need to list him as in my senior academy.
Were I to buy him in this game from stnick, but he remains at Irish in real life, then he WOULD need to be listed in my senior academy players.
Please let me know if this is clear guys, otherwise I will look at rewording it.

Academy Rules wrote:Academy
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be 22 years old or under as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.
Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.

Seems really clear Pete and a good idea to have academy players up to 22 like you suggest (saves me from selling a lot of players!)

Chris told you robson and mills would start. Mills can play 10 to 15 is a natural 10,12 great prospect getting ap game time.
Robson exciting but not polished yet back foot play poor last year but better this. Prem player at best IMO

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
Morning All
Am working on the rules for next season. To let people know early on, I want to bring this game back to being as realistic as possible and I feel that at present it is pretty much a world league and there are teams (mine included) who can lose 20-25 players during the international windows and still put out a fully capped starting XV which means that the league is now split between those who can and those who can't and doesn't really give those who can't much chance.
As seen with the likes of Leicester and Northampton in real life this season, that just does not happen, so as a result I am cutting the maximum squad size drastically, although with the new academy rules and the upping of the age limit for senior academy players you will still have a large pool of players to choose from, you may just have to reshuffle a bit.
What it means is that managers will have to release some players, and you will be compensated for them at the usual rate. None of the changes to the rules will come into force until this season has finished, and at that point I will set a date giving everyone time to get their squads in order. My aim with the alteration of the rules is pretty straightforward, to bring the game a bit more back to reality and to give those with slightly lesser squads to opportunity to comepte on an even footing.
Draft rules for next season to follow shortly.
(change of colour from red is just for you Mat)

Webber, Stevens, Parling, Morgan, Dickson, JTH, Brown
I'm looking forward to watching that side play.

I am underwhelemed to be honest. Our pack looks underpowered in comparison to the Scots. I can see it being a really shoite game with them getting better ball but Parks not able to use it, and our attacking backs having to live off scraps.
Dire.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
As predicted then - I just hope that Hodgson puts in a decent shift, I know his tackling is awful, but surely there's no other 10 who can set a backline free like he can - Foden and Ashton could thrive off his service.
Just dont see what our backrow is going to offer, can only think that we are going to try and play a game like the Saxons, placing more emphasis on mauls and driving through the forwards as opposed to dynamic ball carries - use this as our platform to get on the front foot - and use FArrrells boot to get us into key positions.
Not exactly an inspiring England team.

I think your overrating Scotland's pack Pete.
.
Jacobsen v Corbs = Jacobsen
Ford v Hartley = Hartley
Murray v Cole = Cole
Hamilton v Botha = Evens
Gray v Palmer = Gray
Croft v Strokosch = Croft
Rennie v Robshaw - Robshaw
Denton v Dowson = Evens
I reckon the England pack is stronger.

You can't base it on individuals though Steve, and bear in mind that Cole had his head shoved most firmly up his own orse in the scrums by Chunk at the World Cup.
Front row, I would have as evens across the board in the scrum, but from 4-8 I worry about us in the lineout and at the breakdown, where the Scots will be far more dynamic than we are.

The bench is wrong as well for me. How can Brown who only plays fullback get a spot over Sharples who covers the whole back three.
When Strettle gets injured, we will end up with either Foden or Brown on the wing, neither of whom have really played any rugby there!

A back row of Strokosch, Rennie and Denton. Very pleased to be playing against that. They have a better lineout and scrum could go either way depending on the Murray v Corbs battle but I'm not worried by there pack at all in terms of it ruining our game.

Sharples is a good full back. plays there a lot.
when has brown played wing.
If you are chasing the game who is more likely to win you it??
Sharples massively unlukcky not to start in front of Strettle who i personally think is absolute gash.

Bit harsh on Strettle. Very good runner and his defence has improved so much since going to Sarries. If it wasnt for a few untimely injuries he may well have cemented himself in the England side. Very similar to JSD in that regard. Has always looked good in an England shirt
Will admit would take Sharples ahead of him but hes been selected because of the Sarries link up and the way he reads the defensive line there.

I can just see us getting bullied at the breakdown. The Scottish backs won't do a great deal with the ball they get, but it's going to make for a real turgid game.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
The backs are probably right based on what is available, but they ar enot the source of my disappointment in any case.
In the pack, Botha would be nowhere near. He had a good season for Saracens last year but even their supporters will tell you he's not been great this year. I would have selected Garvey alongside Palmer in the engine room.
In the back row, the balance for me is wrong. Robshaw is out of position at 7 and I would have started him at 6, as he is in form and Croft has been below par.
At 8 I would start Morgan. Dowson will not cut it at this level and it is a waste of a shirt.
We have no natural 7 who is of international class right now, and having throught about things all morning, I would have done one of two things. Either I would have been completely bold and taken a massive punt on Luke Wallace, or if my bottle had gone a little pit, I would have selected a pacy mobile 6 in the 7 shirt, which means I would probably have gone for Tom Johnson. Either would only be a temporary fix until Wood returns.
1. Corbisiero
2. Hartley
3. Cole
4. Garvey
5. Palmer
6. Robshaw
7. Johnson/Wallace
8. Morgan
We would at least have some dynamism in this side and an ability to get over the gainline and attack the breakdown.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
Thats fair enough, I'd start Attwood now.
For me Garvey will be an England international in future and has potential to be better than Attwood by a fair bit.
