Robin van Persie

He really is a top notch player.. World Class? i would say Yes. Definatly the best forward in the premiership.
Head and Shoulders better than Rooney and on 150000 grand a week less.
Can Arsenal Keep him???

i think aguero would challenge your thoughts there, with regards to best forward in league.

Aguero. I agree is a very very good player and i have been very impressed with him. His performance in the 2nd half V Man u was fantastic. I though could see him being maybe a one season wonder ala Hernandez of Man U.

Hate the words world class when it comes to football. Van Persie is a quality striker, I would argue he is a more consistent finisher (his miss today aside) but aguero is the better all round footballer. But neither are world class for me


To be world class means you are on par with the best of the best and right now as good as some players are none come close to Ronaldo or Messi. These two are in a league of their own. (I imagine I'll be on my own with this thinking though)

Agreed, i think they are in with the likes of Gomez in term's of stike rate but don't have the all round brilliance of Messi and Ronaldo.

.Have to maybe see it from a different angle. RVP is very good scoring goals for fun in a poor team, staying injury free he has the potential to be up there with, argubly the 2 greatest players around today.

RVP is a very good player, but there is no way that he is as good as messi and ronaldo thats a very inaccurate statement.

messi and ronaldo, more likely messi, should only be regarded as one of the best of all time if they deliver on the international stage, where so far neither have done particularly well (messi youth world cup and 2008 olympics). Pele (3wc's) and Maradona (1wc) delivered on the world stage and domestically and at atm the 2 best players today dont look like emulating these two sporting greats for their respective nations.... onto brazil in 2014!

Statistically this season for goals and assists, I think this is right, Van Persie is only being bettered by Ronaldo from the top leagues.

Sometimes it is the team squad you have around you.
Messi is young enough to win a world cup. Pele never did come to Europe to show off his skills. Europe always has been the place for true world class players.

Van Persie is as valuable to Arsenal as Ronaldo/Messi are to their teams. He is not as good as them though.

I would say there are 3 or 4 players from Holland alone who are better.

Van Persie is a top striker. Is he any better than say David Villa? Aguero is in the same class and I am sure there are others. Ronaldo and especially Messi are players who can take your breath away.

In '86 they say maradona won the WC single handed and pele perhaps in '58. Without a xavi and iniesta i cant see messi winning a WC or perhaps he wins a WC on his own! So the best player ever imo wasnt good enough? or was too afraid to ply his trade in europe?? rubbish!
