Australian Open 2012 - Day 8
First topic message reminder :
Interesting matches in a few hours. I am going to bed as usual but will be reading teh savvy comments when I wake up....
Gasquet v Ferrer....C'mon Gasquet!!!! (Yes I still believe in him! )
Allez Joe too!
Murray Kukushkin shoudl be interesting if Kuku has recovered and woudl be interesting to see how Djoko reacts when playing against the crowd.
Oh and not to look too much of an ATP fan...I know that Sharapove is playing Lisicky....I am 100% behind the Lisicki...

Well done Djokovic
Well done Hewitt
Brilliant Tennis - and it's past 1 am in the morning (in Melbourne!) - how do they adjust their body clocks!

Well great play from Hewitt. Djoko is vulnerable and this year he will get spanked a lot.

Well done Novak, he served it out impressively.
Great fight from Hewitt.

Djokovic is quite uncomfortable in this aftermatch interview. He clearly wants to get off the court and go through his warm down exercise, then presumably fluids a little something to eat, then bed.

One very big difference - Hewitt got the job done at his peak; he's not had anything to prove for the best part of 10 years since. The desire for a Hewitt victory is for a nostalgic bonus, the unrequited longing for a Henman victory was far more keen, it was about his place in the game.

I thought Djokovic looked quite relaxed in the interview. Jim Courier is pretty good at what he's doing.

More proof of the absurdity of the "Golden Era" as a "Weak Era" veteran with countless injuries in the bag stretches the best the current period can offer.
Let's imagine Lleyton at 25 (but not crippled with injury) playing Nole just before his 32nd birthday and think what might happen.

Yes, the guys who trouble Djokovic the most are the ones with a similar game (oddly enough).
I think Jim Courier is the best tennis interviewer/commentator out there right now, and you can see he has the respect of the other players too.

Aye indeed. It was like Agassi at the US Open and Henman at Wimbledon where you want that big result and the crowd is electric. It was joy to watch Hewitt and Djokovic.
