Who should be next England captain?
Joe Hart but my only problem is that he plays as a keeper.

Rio Ferdinand has ruled himself out of contention to return to the role of England captain and succeed John Terry.

Thats a fricking joke in itself. The 33-year-old became captain in 2010 after Terry had been demoted as captain for a first time following allegations about his private life, but the decision was later reversed by Capello.
Badman Rio !!!Ferdinand said on Twitter: "I don't want to be england captain after the last episode, just want to concentrate on playin for utd&if I make the squad then as ever I'll be delighted."

Surely Terry must now step down as an England player? His presence would be a nightmare, can you imagine the atmosphere in the squad?

The next captain should be someone assured of his place in the starting XI, which is Hart, Parker and Rooney IMO
I would go with Hart. being keeper doesn't matter. look at Casillas. He was Madrid captain very young.

Can't be parker I'd think long termism must be on the agenda now.
I like hart too. Intelligent, seems a strong personality, young, and playing with an elite team. Seems to fit perfectly.
But I bet my nuts that it'll be Gerrard.

I hope so. I cant stand his face. I think hes an absolute disgrace and thats is polite, I cant put it into strong enough words what I think of him.Terry must now step down as an England player?
FA are idiots tho, I bet hes captain again at some point. Bet ya!!
I would go with......Michael Carrick
You laugh but his preformances of late are getting him noticed. Hes looking better and is doing more then his usual holding/distribution role now.
He has more exp than Hart+Barry+Parker put together.
OK, nah but realistically Id have Parker.

KB, please tell me that Eng line up is a joke....please
Oxo Cube - if he carrys on getting good match time and playing at a consistany good level than yes. Failing that no.
Wilshere - Who??? Oh that kid who hasnt played a single minute of football all season and probably wont.
Carroll - I shouldnt have to explain.
Welbeck & Sturridge upfront I say. I really want to see them play together, reckon the will be ace.

I don't think Welbeck and Sturridge together would work. I would go with one or the other.
I would also have Ashley Young in the side.
And in fairness he did say Wilshere if he was fit

I dont care if he is fit. He wont have played any football this season or very little. By the time he regains his match fitness/touch/sharpness etc we will be out the tourny. And in fairness he did say Wilshere if he was fit
Hart
Richards/Walker--Cahill/Jones/Jags/Dawson--Cole
Oxo--Carrick--Parker--Young
Welbeck--Sturridge
Richards/Walker - Richards is strong, good at going forward but I prefer Walker at RB myself.
Cahill/Jones/Jags/Dawson - 2 of these four to start. All depends on how much football they get rest of the season and form. Pref would be Cahill & Jones
Oxo - dependant on match minutes and consistancy levels.
Carrick - Laugh all you want (if you want) but if he carrys on how he is playing he has every chance of being in the team.
I dont want to see England go with the same stale old team. Let get some youth in there and give them the chance. SAF give youth a chance, Arry has this season too, Joachim Loew has and look at Germany, I consider them one of the favs for the tourny.
Out with the old. In with the new. All the young lads in the above line up are playing pretty much regulary for their club, They are all at good/bigger Prem clubs and all have played consistanty well so far in the season.

Re: Furious Football Association © : HomePage Season 2, Page 17
If Terry goes to the Euros he has to be in the starting 11 say what you like about him but he is still Englands best CB. Baines is easily the best English LB, Cole has been so awful for the past 2 years.

I dont like Cole but I cant agree with that statement. 2009/10 4 goals 4 assists. 2010/11 5 assists. So far this season 6 assists. From LB thats good + he can defend. Yes he can be dodgy at times but hes still quite consistant with prefomances.Cole has been so awful for the past 2 years.
Smalling - OOSH, yes another youngster. how did I forget him.

KB means fit as in match fit.
If he's match fit, then he is in, if he is not match fit then he doesn't.
Surely KB is entitled to say that?

Re: Furious Football Association © : HomePage Season 2, Page 17
Nick watching the actual player is completely diffrent to the stats, so many times I've seen him get ripped by the winger, when Arsenal beat them 5-3 Walcott was getting the better of him. He don't look right when a winger is attacking him he has had problems with Lennon, I think Cole like Evra does not liek a direct winger.
Baines has stood up much better to wingers then Cole had, he has done well against the pacy direct ones aswell as the tricky dribblers. Baines also can take freekicks and pens I feel his crossing is better then Coles.

Yeah that ok I understand.KB means fit as in match fit.
Surely KB is entitled to say that? - course he is. I just made my comment based on the current news, Hes is out and will most likely not play a minute of football this season.
Viva, I know what you mean with Cashley. I just feel he has the exp needed to play in big games and he can still do a good job.

Re: Furious Football Association © : HomePage Season 2, Page 17
Fair enough Nick .
I think Cole has been alright the last two seasons, I wouldn't call him poor.
Baines has been better though. My completely unbiased view is that Baines has been the best LB in the Premier League since the start of the 10/11 season

Re: Furious Football Association © : HomePage Season 2, Page 17
Carroll:
Simply because i don't rate Welbeck, i don't rate Bent and Sturridge is a more of a creator than a goal poacher. If England are going to excel at Euro 2012 then they need someone bullying defences and getting amongst it. The key difference between Carroll and Crouch is that Carroll can jump without using his arm and wins free kicksm something Crouch can never do. Granted, Carroll isn't banging them in for Liverpool, but it's more to do with their style of play and some of the waste behind him (Adam, Henderson, Downing), as much as i hate the little gypo (Newcastle Fan) he's looked alot more like his old self since Gerrard came back.
Wilshere:
As stated, if he is MATCH FIT then he would be automatic choice for me, he's a different class. If he's not, it would be a toss up between Gerrard and Cleverly dependant on form.
I really don't see the point in rolling out the same old has beens as we have done for the past 4 tournaments for this one. Give the new blood a chance and build towards 2014 with a tourney behind them.

Ditto. Why try the same thing over and over again, when it has been proven not to work.
I want a team with pace and energy that will play fast English style football. Play to our strengths and also play a tactic not many teams will have experience of playing against

In all seriousness, I took over Benfica as a kind of taster to see what I thought of the FFA, with the option of taking it on full time if I would like to. And wilst I've had a lot of fun with it over the past few weeks, I think my time limitations and my limited knowledge of footballers beyond the Premier League have held me back - and I think I've missed votings on at least two occasions which is unfair to everyone.
I think this place is great and I'd love to be able to invest the time to be good at it, but it's a bit much.
Thanks for being so welcoming and for all the advice you've all given me I really have had a fun time playing.
