The Official *England to Grand Slam Glory 2012* Thread
Suck in some of that English patriotism lads, because this brave, new and inventful England will win us our first Grand Slam since '03!
First game on Saturday is the Scots. Negative, boring Scotland. It doesn't look like any rain will be coming so we English will score tries to our hearts content. Easy 15 point win.
After that, a trip to Rome to take on Italy. Sure this is difficult if you're the French, but not if your England. Speaking of which, an easy 30+ point win will be recorded here.
Then the Welsh. Those cocky, overrated Welsh. A game on England's green and pleasant land will sort them out, just like last time. They'll have their excuses ready I'm sure (It wasn't a sending-off Ref!) but ultimately, another easy win for the brave English.
Then away to France. Ignore the loss at the last World Cup with an ageing squad, this England team are the real deal. Instead, think of Agincourt and Waterloo. When we stand tall, we'll make them regret the day that they took on England! 4/4.
Then the last leg of the trip. Home to the Irish on St. Patrick's Day. Doesn't mean a thing in England. It'll be close but the English will triumph as we so often do.
2012 Grand Slam achieved and a new dawn for English Rugby.

Here's a question - is it glory if you win the 6 Nations but no Grandslam.
England seemed very disheartened last season to have been denied the Slam. They accepted a trophy behind closed doors in one of the biggest anti climatic finishes to a tournament ever.

Crikey Duty
If we were to score tries to our hearts content I would hope for a slightly bigger margin than 15 points. A pretty dull game unless you are thinking along the lines of 85 - 70.

Ahhhh nice. I'm riding my unicorn to the England Ireland game.
Sharing it with Angelina Jolie. Probably be asked to step in for Robshaw at half-time when I'll dazzle everyone with a stunning hat-trick of tries.
Hell, if we're dreaming big, dream BIG.

Re: The Official *England to Grand Slam Glory 2012* Thread
Just reading a copy of the Evening Standard on the way home from London and page 52 has a huge article on Welsh captain Sam Warnurton and how great Wales were at the RWC, what with being sober and playing great rugby etc etc etc.
At the bottom of the same page is a few paragraphs about the new England Captain.
This is a huge change in the English press who usually neglect reporting anything on the home nations unless it directly involves England.
I would say that the Standards sport editor is rather ambiguous towards England's rugby fortunes.

As a proud Englishman it obviously annoys you. Do you not think the media are portraying english rugby with accuracy at the moment. Are the events they are reporting all lies? Are they wrong to be so critical?

And during the WC it was the media from England that shafted, yet again, their own side. So who is out to get who when talk of media and England (in any sport) arises.

Editor of this article contradicts himself because he says 'Wales are the team to beat' in it.
Yet on Twitter he says 'Ireland will win it tho''
Perhaps he is trying to please all of the people all of the time.......

Look, From a neutral point of view it seems that the media likes to sensationalise stories regarding England sports in general. Whether its the rugby or football teams. And the world likes to see negative stories about England even the English themselves for some reason.
Im not saying the stories aren't true, most of them are but a lot of them aren't anything other than tabloid garbage trying to sell some papers.
Lets not kid ourselves here the Welsh, New Zealand, Australian and French players have been just as bad in the past and we don't see nearly as much bad press surrounding them. But as i said every country likes to see England feck up.
I also don't know why every one has been so pessimistic about England after the world cup. The Irish and us didn't even get to the quarters in 07. If anything i think its arrogance by the English that they think they have a right to be in the final.
I also find it strange how before the world cup most pundits were saying they didn't expect to do that well this world cup but to actually do well in 2015 and then afterwards they are all saying England were a disaster.
Too me it just looks like bad press about England sells papers

england keeps the world on an even keel. When we dont do well the rest of the world is happy. But then being happy is like cake(karl pilko) , or like good weather(my version). If you have it every day you get sick of it or you dont aprreciate it. Therefore england comes up trumps occasionally and rises to the top, just to bring everyone else down abit and creating the roller coster ride that is life

3 days and lets face it we could end up unhappy and depressed about England, but then we just have to think of how it will be for the Welsh, when their dreams of Glory are thwarted for the unpteenth time.
i'll silently shed a tear for Wales, possibly of mirth, then i'll have another drink and another drink, (you get the picture) to celebrate Englands forthcoming GS!!!

1 down, 4 to go.
A valiant defensive effort made the Scots go away - very well done to Brad Barritt. Roll on Italy which will see our attack flourish.

England boys, flying high! Two away games, two tricky away games seen off. Confidence is growing and yes, you can say that England have only scored two charged-down tries but does it matter? No. 2/2. The margin over Italy should have been greater but for that crazy spell just before half-time with a ricocheted try followed by an intercept try. 3 wins needed, that's all. England boys, flying high!

spot on
The press seem to have invented this disaster for themselves, we still here "Englands world cup campaign" prefixed with shambolic or disastrous with no attempt to contextualise what really happened. They lost one game to a side that 50% of the time is better than them by a narrow margin. Thats a disaster now.
Didnt help with certain people at the RFU looking to shift blame by selective leaking of juicy quotes from the confidential review. All comments taken out of context and used tio add to the script. Martin Johnson evil, England team worse. Everything must change, but it definately wasnt anything to do with Rob Andrew...after all he never even wanted MJ in the job.
Is quite sad really. The press and the retarded nationalist fans love it.
The team is much worse now , and suddenly the media and fans are in love with it. Lancaster is a genius, Robshaws a great captain ( remeber when Moody took over form Borthwick and saved England?) and we are going to win a grand slam. All because he got Gary Nevillie to do assembly and spent some time selecting the music to play in the changing rooms?
England should aspire to win world cups and grand slams, but to expect to even be close every time is ridiculous.

Can't agree there. Not being based around the midlands teams that both took pastings away in Ireland of late anymore is no bad thing, too many players not having to fight for their place who weren't good enough.
They finally picked youth with potential, they've just done it so late that they're going to have a tough year settle in.
Oh and they got rid of wells.. Better in every way really.
