Re: Scotland Team for Saturday
Any other team in the 6Ns, Italy included, would have beaten England yesterday based on the match stats. I think Scotland surpassed even themselves for wasting chances. My feeling has always been that sheer speed is the most important quality that an international standard back should possess, the faster backline will always pose more of a threat. I'd be interested to know the relative sprinting speeds of the Scotland squad, pretty sure that Hogg would leave R Lamont trailing in his wake even over half the length of the pitch. This obsession with selecting physical rather than fast backs has to stop if we're going to be a competitive team and importantly an entertaining team. As a debenture holder I usually attend the home games but couldn't make it yesterday and I'm glad I didn't blow £75 on that. I've got my ticket for the French match and I'm really hoping the team selection gets sorted out, please no more players who look like they're running (and thinking)in slow motion.
