Six Nations Competition - Week 5
First topic message reminder :
This is the place to post your selections for week 5. mr-bryns-attitude has a 33 point lead going into the final three games from mystiroakey and Eclipse back in joint second. This competition is far from over though with all three games this week capable of going either way. This is probably the toughest week for the predictions so far.

Please add your score predictions for this weekend's three games onto the end of this thread.
The rules are as follows:-
- Spoiler:
- 1) Each week you will be asked to predict the scores from that weekend's games.
2) You will be get points depending on how close you are to the actual score. Points will be awarded in the following way:-
- You will get 20 points for getting the correct match outcome (up from 10 points last year).
- You will get 10 points for getting a teams score correct.
- You will lose one of those 10 points for every point you are away from a teams score. Therefore you must be with 10 points of a teams score to gain points.
- If you get a match score spot on you will be awarded double points. So if the correctly predict a matches score you will receive a maximum 80 points.
Example:-
Your prediction - Ireland 17-31 Wales
Actual result - Ireland 25-31 Wales
Your score 32 points
You would receive 20 points for correctly predicting Wales to win. As you were 8 points off Ireland's score you get 2 points for that and another 10 points for getting Wales' score spot on.
Saturday, 17 March 2012

I'm in the same boat. Not so happy with my original prediction now but changing it may be tempting fate. I find it funny how seriously we all take this.

Ha ha. I backed Ireland against Wales and justified it by saying to myself that it would take the edge off the depression of losing. Now I wish I'd followed my heart!

Re: Six Nations Competition - Week 5
I´m changing my prediction. Simply because I can´t remember what I put before. Sorry to make more work for you sportsville. But after a weak effort against France, I think France will be fired up after Ireland put so many points on Italy. If Ireland had scraped through with a lucky win, ironically I would´ve put money on them to surprise the French on the weekend. But given that warning shot they fired against Italy, I think the French know what´s facing them now and feel they need to pull out a big performance. So I´m going for 27 - 15 to France with their best performance so far. Unless my other score is closer (it was a French win) in which case that result stands.

Hi Bill,
I think it might be, though I am also edging the bets towards the upper end.
Wales have been saying all week how this game is about proving a point, laying down a marker.
Wales have the ability to put a cricket score on Italy in Cardiff. Personally I would be happy with a good win, even just a win. But these lads really want to prove something...! The have the talent lets hope they can convert it into points.

If England can win in Paris they will have seriously proved a big point, that is a tough game for such an inexperienced team. Especially the battle at the breakdown, backrow will be vital.
I will be very impressed by England if they win this game, they have a good chance, they played well in the loss to Wales, a lot better than they did against Scotland and Italy.
