Re: Scotland and the Olympics
The Olympic Flame has had a huge turnout in Scotland much to everyones surprise.
Over 1,000 folk in the crowd at 6am in Stranrear. At least another 1,000 in Ayr. Big party with Emilee Sanday in Glasgow's St George Square.
Moving from Aberdeen to Dundee today with another concert in Edinburgh the next day.
People thought it would be a non event in Scotland. Proves not to listen to what the media say.

Re: Scotland and the Olympics
There are some killjoys around who would like the passage of the Olympic flame to be a non-event, Doon. Thankfully, the progress of the flame is turning out to be a great success.
I don't know why the Scots should feel disenfranchised from the Games. For all this is called the London Olympics, it is still British in nature and we should all be involved.
The Olympics system is to award the games to a city rather than a nation, and any city is eligible to bid. Being realistic, London is the only city in Britain that could not only afford to stage the Games, but also has the infrastructure and travel links necessary. This doesn't mean though, that the games held there are exclusive to London, or even England, come to that. These are the Games for Great Britain and it is likely that this will be the last time they will come to this country in our lifetimes. Those who put on a sullen pout and refuse to join the party will probably regret it in years to come (although they'll probably never admit it).
So, go ahead... enjoy the Olympics. Cornwall to London is probably not that much different in distance from Edinburgh to London. If I can make it to the Games, then why can't Scots..?
Those who refuse to join in are depriving only themselves.

Re: Scotland and the Olympics
I got my tickets today to watch the world champions play football at Hampden.
Taking my 6 year old grandson for a double header.
£26 for the pair of us for two games, fantastic value.
I like thier kids pricing system where you pay your age. My wee fella is paying £6.

The sods, Just after I bought my G'sons ticket they announced that they were going to give loads free to local schoolkids.
Still at least Scotland gets to Open the London Olympics.
I see England are losing to Brazil.
