Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
I don't think bringing Manu in for Barritt will increase the amount of ball the back 3 see. Seems to be the way we're playing (the sarries way) more than the players.
Hodgson kicked away a lot of ball yesterday, apart from goal kicking (which was exceptional) I thought Farrell was quiet.

Lancaster keeps saying they aren't playing the Saracens way which seems strange as it seems to be pretty close to it.

What are people doing with 6N players next weekend?
I have quite a few pencilled in to my side due to giving them 4 weeks rest before the tournament or that they have been primarily off the bench or didn't play yesterday.
Just checking I won't get crucified.

I wouldn't play forwards Steven but backs should be alright? Or those thT have been on the bench a lot.
Terrible news about Jonah Lomu - poor bloke, needs another kidney transplant.
Personally I struggle to see the game plan England are playing ATM seems no different to Johnson right now - we could get hammered by Wales if we don't buck our ideas up

See I disagree. For example Warburton has played for me 1.5 games in 5 weeks assuming he plays 80 today. He surely can't be needing a break.
Heaslip will have played 1 game in 5 weeks as well so I think those two are fine myself.

Irish and French players are playing next week though instead.
Watched the England game again and Farrell and Croft both had very good games, Croft did loads at the breakdown

I'm liking the backrow balance, seems to working well. Robshaw doing the dirty work free'd up Croft a bit. Didn't see much from Farrell myself apart from his goal kicking. Played better than last week though.

Farrell didn't make one mistake all game, tactical play spot on, tackling v good and ha great leadership qualities. His organisational skills are great for a 20 year old.
Barritt playing at 13 isn't the option we need at all - offers nothing in attack and doesn't set our backthree free - need a creative spark there somewhere, would keep Farrell though and think Hodgson has done v well. Barritt for bench next game or will Tuilagi go there?

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
Farrell just offers zero running threat which is an issue in midfield imo, he's much better suited to 10.
Barritt made yards, offloaded, beat defenders and was the only real attacking threat in the backline. If you think he offers nothing in attack I seriously don't understand what you think Farrell offers.
Of the 5 defenders beaten by English players Barritt beat 2 of those. I can understand people think he has his limitations but he kicked, passed, got two turnovers, broke the line and gave us go forward.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
England player ratings:
6. Foden - at fault for intercept try, industrious & at least tried to inject something into the back line
5. Ashton - might need a game next week for Saints, Sharples and May must be close to the no14 jersey now.
7. Barritt - good performance but isn't a 13, very little got to the wings from him. Won't find a more committed defender, but is that enough?
7. Farrell - calm, reassuring presence and goal kicking talent inherited from his father.
6. Strettle - no ball to work his magic
8. Hodgson - stands flat, tries to bring others into the game with passing game and tactically very good. Flood won't play ahead of him this 6Nations
4. Youngs - what has happened to him? No confidence, no urgency - would have him as 4 th best no9 in England on current form when has the talent to be best in the world.
6. Dowson - improved on last week but clearly isn't a no8 - will lose his place for Wales game
6. Robshaw - a no6 playing a no7 and it shows. Good leadership but England lacking something here when should be beating Italy at the BD
7. Croft - best game in an England shirt for some time. Lot of work at the BD, just need a way of getting him running a bit more.
6. Palmer - mixed game, needs Lawes next to him
7. Botha - work rate exceptional though doesn't carry enough - Lawes to replace next game
7. Cole - great set piece, so disruptive at BD too. Best game for England in 12months
7. Hartley - irritates opponents all game, good leader and part of a solid scrum that was tipped to struggle
8. Corbiseiro - quality player and England's best forward until Morgan came on. Got potential to have best front row in the world come 2015.
Subs
9. Dickson - tempo, quick ball - has to start
9. Morgan - composed, go to man and makes hard yards
7. Parling - looked good, good work in line out
Others not enough time for rating.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
Farrell takes all the pressure off Hodgson, has a good passing game and his kicking game alone will keep him in the team. His organisational skills are top rate and defence is solid - I don't like Barritt at 13 as he doesn't have the pace needed there or enough attacking flair.
You have to accommodate Tuilagi into the team - so you either drop Barritt or move him to 12 - I don't think Farrell will get dropped. Would also drop Ashton now, not sure for who though, May or Sharples

Dickson, Care and Simpson all be better than Youngs in last two months - don't think you see how amazingly off form Youngs is.
Also you were right about Vunipola being just a fat lump. Yeah the blOke offers nothing!

Simpson?!?! C'mon Chris. He was dropped for Wasps a few games ago and is in dire form.
Bit different to looking out of sorts for England than playing badly against 2/3rd string AP sides.

Pooly you don't have a clue about wasps and Simpson mate - take it you saw his try last week? Remember the days when youngs used to try and do that, can barely get the ball out the back of ruck these days!
Simpson has Played well since Xmas - got his spark back. Youngs is best English no9 but on current form he'd do well to displace Harrison for tigers atm

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
Couldn't disagree more on both points.
Lindsay is a very good scrummager, his throwing is suspect. Recall seeing him go toe to toe with Servat last year. Wasps scrum always looks better with him on as Webber is a weakness there.
I don't know why Saull keeps getting called the best English 7 by people on here, he's not good at what a 7 should be. He's really poor at breakdown, misses tackles and doesn't carry at all.
He is an excellent kick/chase player but is this good enough to be called the best English 7????

Palmer back to Wasps would be interesting.
Warburton is a blow to Wales. Surprised Shingler is brought in though I'd have gone for Jones into the back row and Reed into the row.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
Pooly Simpson wasn't dropped for poor form, his basics have improved a hell of a lot since he's got one to one training with Bracken. I go and watch wasps nearly week in week out and I honestly don't know where you get this 'bad form' thing from.
If you watched Wasps a lot then I could understand your viewpoint - just don't get how you can say things like I speak rubbish about the club I go and watch when you see them on tv once a month and you can never get the full picture of a game on tv.
He's played behind an awful pack but still played well - is a constant attacking threat, great sweeper in defence and his pass is better than Youngs at the moment - Bracken has been amazing for him.

Pete I have a quick question.
What would be the outcome if one of us had Aaron Shingler in our club and played him on friday and he then played on sunday. Would there be a penalty or is that just dismissed as something out of our hands as he wasn't named in the initial side.
