England u20s versus Wales
England have named their team:
u20 side
It's the same side that was supposed to start against Italy. Given the disappointment of having that called off, and the continued use of u20 players at AP sides, I don't think this is surprising.
It's nothing like the strongest side England can put out, but it's still got some good players in it. Slade and Bell are the fourth and fifth choice FHs at this level.
England Under 20 starting XV v Wales
1) Luke Cowan-Dickie (Exeter Chiefs)
2) Koree Britton (Gloucester Rugby)
3) Kyle Sinckler (Harlequins)
4) Tom Price (Leicester Tigers)
5) George Merrick (Harlequins)
6) Dom Barrow (Leeds Carnegie)
7) Chris Walker (C) (Leeds Carnegie)
8) Jack Clifford (Harlequins)
9) Dan Robson (Gloucester Rugby)
10) Tommy Bell (Sale Sharks)
11) Josh Bassett (Bedford Blues)
12) Sam Hill (Exeter Chiefs)
13) Charlie Walker (Harlequins)
14) Anthony Watson (London Irish)
15) Ben Ransom (Saracens)
Replacements:
16) Scott Spurling (Saracens)
17) Alec Hepburn (London Wasps)
18) Nick Auterac (Saracens)
19) Elliot Stooke (Gloucester Rugby)
20) Will Skuse (Bath Rugby)
21) Alex Day (Northampton Saints)
22) Henry Slade (Exeter Chiefs)
23) Marland Yarde (London Irish)

Re: England u20s versus Wales
The front five is looking really strong again. I would pick the front row to go toe-to-toe with anyone at this level.
To be honest, I am really looking forward to this, there are a number of guys I really want to see play.
Dom Barrow for instance, I've been reading match reports and opinion on him for a few years, yet never managed to see him play first hand. If he lives up to the potential (hype?) I will be very pleased.
Sam Hill too, his profile suggests he is a big lad. I want to see if he can play too. It's a shame he isn't getting a chance to line up alongside Elliott Daly this time.

I like watching the U20s; they just go out and play.
Pub tomorrow after work. Bulls v Sharks in the S15, followed by the U20s game.
Sorted.

Re: England u20s versus Wales
I haven't checked the ages, but I think the front 5 is fairly young for an u20 side.
I'm pretty sure Sam Hill is still 18, but he did very well against against Barkley and Banahan recently.
Dom Barrow is very highly rated, and has been getting a fair amount of game time for Leeds.

Re: England u20s versus Wales
Game on !
Wales have never beaten England at this level & Wales have no 'A' level so the incentives are there.
As Dean Ryan says quite a few English players have been retained by their clubs @ Premiership level which is good news.
Quite an inexperienced England side out tonight with 10 players missing.
Good luck England & a good taster for tomorrow

What's going on? Why is it a scrum?

Re: England u20s versus Wales
I think the kicker must have put it dead from the penalty (certainly sounded that way from the commentators)

Yeah that was weird! It was a penalty to Wales and then suddenly it's a scrum!

Nice to see the Welsh U20 side get away with not releasing the tackled players as much as the senior team.

Re: England u20s versus Wales
is it Hammer? I hadn't noticed
Nice idea to chip over by Sam there but unlucky with the bounce.
Dan Thomas, a knock on aside, is setting himself up to have another great game again.

Too many unforced errors from England so far, they haven't really clicked yet.

Dreamer, I'm actually not typing most of what I'm thinking
But at least I'm happy to admit I'm biased (that's the first step I think)

Re: England u20s versus Wales
Wow. Ref has actually penalised two of the forward passes. That makes a change (at all levels)

Surely there should have been a penalty from that scrum? England destroyed them!
In other news ANOTHER unforced error.

Re: England u20s versus Wales
Forwards starting to enter rucks from offside. Need to be careful. Could have been two penalties against us easily
It's funny how Evans highlights any decisions that go against Wales but not the ones that for against Wales.

Great try from England, Walker's pace is really creating problems. Great tracking from Watson too.

Re: England u20s versus Wales
I like Ieaun Evans but he sometimes talks too quickly it makes me feel he is tripping over his words.
But back to the game I love the ambition shown by both sides & for teams that haven't played together that much there is a lot of quality on show.
Wow that was a good try there!

Re: England u20s versus Wales
I loved Ieaun Evans pre-match interview, when pointed out that Wales haven't beaten England in U20's since 1623 or whatever it is he comes back, quick as a flash "Well, it's not about results at this level..."
Genius. Do you guys get taught this stuff at school in Wales? or is it really just coming that naturally?
He seemed to be upset enough about the impact on the result of obvious not-try we scored a few minutes ago.
