Fantasy European League™ - Round 4 Empty Re: Fantasy European League™ - Round 4

Bayern Munich 2 - 2 Liverpool

A good even game at the Allianz Arena, but I think some nit-picking will differentiate the teams. Playing Modric in what looks like defensive midfield will hurt Bayern, but they will steal a goal through the good work of Muller and Ribery each. A lack of subs also hinders them also. Whereas Liverpool score some efficient goals through Gerard and Lavezzi. I just think that they lack a creative threat in the middle which could create more chances for them to win. But a draw is fair here.

Man City 3 - 2 Chelsea

I like the City team and they way they are set up, I just think that Toure would play better in a more central role than a defensive one, but overall City are set up well to attack and also defend Chelsea. They have a creative trio up front with Di Maria who plays a divine through ball for Higuain to score. Chelsea are set up well to defend the City attack, but for me Luiz lacks the intelligence to stay back and gets caught up field and City capitalise on the counter. The flair of Aguero allows Chelsea to equalise with two more goals, but Navas scores a breakaway goal which seals a good win for the home team.

AC Milan 2 - 1 Juventus

A good even game at the San Siro. Pato grabs an early goal thanks to the vision of Gaitan. But the game is pretty much too-and-fro for the duration. Until midway through the second half, Cavani manages to swivel and place shot around the keeper which equals the scores. But a late Sturridge goal gives Milan a hard earned victory. An altercation between Van Bommell and Marchisio see's both get sent off. Can't help but think the result could've been a bit different if Juventus had a full bench.

Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 2 Real Madrid

Two good teams in the league, but it hurts to give Madrid the win. The creativity and flair of Ronaldo and Mata on the wings and then the combination with Villa behind Torres creates so much space and time for the Madrid attack. They however concede first as brilliant work from Bale creates an oppurtunity for Falcao in which he blasts home. But Madrid strike back through powerful Ronaldo effort. Then late in the game the strong Madrid bench takes a strong influence as a Cazorla strike late on seals the victory.

Man Utd 3 - 1 Arsenal

I like the set up of the Utd side at home, they have a little bit of everything; the pace out wide, gritty and tireless defensive midfielders, creative and strong strikers and a very solid backline. The strong spine of this team dominates the Arsenal midfield. And this leads to giving Kaka time and space to set up Ibrahimovic and Nani early on. I appreciate the attacking threat and the flair of the Arsenal side, however I see them being pushed off the ball by some stronger players, despite the selection of Vidal who is just one man. Neymar gets marked out of the game by Vidic and Thiago, but Hazard manages to grab a goal. However Kaka manages to create a goal for himself which secures the victory.

Inter Milan 1-2 Barcelona
Tevez
Sanchez, Messi

Encouraging performance from Inter Milan but Barcelona's clinical finishing and precise passing won them the game today. Inter took the lead early on, Tevez mugging off Albiol before stroking in. Barcelona battled back in the second half and Sanchez scored an early equaliser, before Messi clinched the points on the hour mark.

===

Bayern Munich 2-1 Liverpool
Ribery, Vermaelen
Huntelaar

The home side had the slightly stronger side today and it showed as they overcame a dogged Liverpool side. The midfield battle was intriguing but Bayern shaded it, and it was midfielder Ribéry who opened the scoring with a cute finish after 35 minutes. Liverpool battled their way back into the game and created plenty of chances, Lavezzi clipping the post. Soon the hosts were 2 goals to the good, Vermaelen powering a header past the keeper. The visitors didn't deserve to lose by 2 though and Huntelaar grabbed a deserved consolation in added time but it wasn't enough.

===

Man City 1-0 Chelsea
Sneijder

A moment of magic from Wesley Sneijder gave City all three points in a truly dull match. Both of these sides are strong and cancelled each other out, resulting in a terrible spectacle for the neutral. Fabregas, Yaya and Sneijder were constantly stifled and disrupted by Khedira, who played excellently. However, Sneijder deceived Wilshere before curling in from 30 yards with a goal that deserved to win any match, and that it did as Chelsea struggled to carve any chances to equalise.

===

AC Milan 1-0 Juventus
Drogba

This was a match that was, surprisingly, as entertaining as they come between the two most likely relegation candidates. With all to play for, Juventus came into the game with an attacking mentality and threatened early on, forcing Abbiati into acrobatic action to deny Ganso. Milan have not quite got going yet this season but their front-three were in the mood this afternoon, and it was Drogba who snatched the only goal of the game in the 65th minute after neat combination play from Robinho and Pato.

===

Tottenham 0-1 Real Madrid
Torres

Madrid definitively showed their title credentials at White Hart Lane as they demonstrated they have the ability to win when they have been outplayed. Tottenham were well up for this game and created chance after chance but can only have themselves to blame as they failed to take any of them. The best opportunity for Spurs fell to Robben as the Bale's cross fell kindly to him. Unmarked at the far post, the Dutchman could only fire wide. From the resulting goal-kick, César's punt was met by Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese's fierce strike could only be parried by the keeper, and Torres reacted fastest to slam the ball into an empty net.

Inter Milan 1 - 2 Barcelona
Pedro ----------- Messi, Van Persie

Barcelona were supeb throughout this match and retained possession in a flash. Samuel was out-paced by Messi and he played a quick 1-2 with Sanchez before slotting home the first goal. Barcelona were dominating the midfield but slacked defensively when Albiol was caught by Pedro and he walked past the keeper to equalise. Barca's tempo had increased but Inter defended well. However it was a defence splitting pass by Messi that set Van Persie and he volleyed home the winner. Inter came back strong and struck the bar but unfortunately Barca stayed strong for the win.
--------------
Bayern Munich 2 -1 Liverpool
Gomez ----------------- Gerrard
Ribery

Bayern were more ruthless in front of goal and that was the only difference between both sides. Earier on Krasic and Stankovic spurned some great chances and failed to hit the target. On the other hand, Gomez just needed a sniff at goal and he executed his finish with precision. Ribery doubled with a mazy run. It was Gerrard's penalty that pulled a goal back but again Liverpool failed to finish off some good chances.
--------------
AC Milan 1 - 0 Juventus
Mexes

A very tight game but dramatic ending as Mexes towered above Srna and powered his header past Buffon in injury time. Not much goal moth action as both defences were solid and the attackers from both sides were not on top of their game.
-----------------
Tottenham 1 - 3 Real Madrid
Robben ---------- Ronaldo (2) Mata

Tottenham were in this match up until after half-time as Madrid switched gears and dominated from thereon. Tottenham were impressive first half and created good chances and one of them was finished beautifully by Robben. Madrid were rocking and Spurs could have had a second if it wasn't for Cesar's great save from Bale. Second half was a different story as Madrid looked up for it and Ronaldo was ruthless in front of goal with a fantastic long range shot followed by a mazy run and a curler. Mata put the icing on the cake when he nutmegged Ekotto and blasted home the 3rd.
--------------
Man Utd 1 - 0 Arsenal
Nani

Nani proved to me the matchwinner in this tense game of both sides not looking to lose a goal and no gung-ho approaches. Arsenal created a few chances only to be finished tamely or off target. Utd had a couple too but with the same result. It came down to an individual brilliant goal when Nani received the ball from the left, dummied to shoot and dipped a swirling shot past Fabianski to end the stalemate.

Inter 1-1 Barca
Benzema - Messi
Great draw for Inter as the combined threat of Tevez and Benzema work well against a defence that's not often used to defending!

Man City 2-0 Chelsea
Higuan x 2
Very much like the set up now of the City team and apart from a couple of players it looks a very strong team, Toure is a rock that allows Fab and Sneijder to push the Chelsea team back.

AC Milan 1-2 Juventus
Gaitan - Ganso, Cavani
The speed and creativity of the Juve attack is too much for an ageing AC defence

Spurs 1-1 Madrid
Falcao - Ronaldo
Great purchase of Falcao by Spurs who leads the line well against Madrid which is what Madrid desperately need with Torres badly out of form.

Bayern 2-1 Liverpool
Gomez x2 - Hunterlaar
Attractive game of football with Gomez proving the difference between the teams.

Inter Milan 1 - 2 Barcelona
Benzema : Van Persie, Messi

I think Milan would threaten constantly up front with the wings getting the better of the Barca full backs. Pique gets them out of trouble far too often. However, the Barcelona midfield and attack would stifle Inter. Inter's defence would struggle to cope with Barca's front 3, which in the end was the difference.

===

Bayern Munich 1 - 0 Liverppol
Kroos

Bayern earn a hard fought win. Cambiasso allows Modric to play and is the perfect foil. Kroos and Gomez have a bit of luck getting in behind the Liverpool defence to create chances. Liverpools wingers did well.

====

AC Milan 1 - 1 Juventus
Ramires : Chiellini

A draw perhaps doesn't help either side here but in all honesty it's the only result I can see. Milan's top attack is nullified by some hard work at the back for Juventus.

Spurs 1 - 1 Madrid
Parker : Mata

A strong effort from Spurs at home. Their midfield is compact and I think they'd have their fair share of possession. Overall though I think the Madrid attack would have enough to break down the Spurs defence and grab the equaliser.

United 2 - 1 Arsenal
Ibrahimovich, Silva : Neymar

I like the balance of the home side and I think they would have enough for this one. In the end, experience showed and they just simply 'did the job' on Arsenal. Vidic was solid at the back, and Lampard and Essien dictated the play in the middle.

Inter 2-3 Barca
Tevez, Benzema: Sanchez (3)

Home side desperately unlucky not to salvage a point. Barca were dominant in the early stages with De Rossi, and the other 2 in complete control of midfield. Sanchez bagged a first half hat-trick however 2nd half, Inter came alive and both strikers bagged a goal each but not an elusive 3rd goal to draw level.

===
Bayern 3-1 Liverpool
Gomez (3): Otamendi

Bayern dominated from start to finish with Cambiasso and Modric dictating things for the hosts. Within an hour of play, Gomez helped himself to a hat trick. Late on, Nicolas Otamendi grabbed a goal with a looping header but only a mere consolation.

===
Man City 0-0 Chelsea

On paper, promised goals, in reality, didn't deliver. A cagey affair with neither team willing to take a chance in fear of being hit on the counter.

===
AC Milan 1-0 Juventus
Pato

Home side stole all 3 points late on with a rasping drive from Pato which dipped and swerved and all sorts giving the keeper no chance.

===
Man Utd 2-1 Arsenal
Ibrahimovic (2): Ozil

Home side won a tough encounter. Ozil curled a delightful free kick to give the away side the lead but 2 quick fire goals early in the second half gave Man Utd the lead through Ibrahimovic. Arsenal pressed but United held firm for 3 points.

Higuain (54) Aguero(80)
Kompany(59) Silva (87)
Luiz (90+5)
game of the season, going into half time goaless but it came alive in teh secon half, 54 minutes in Navas fees thru di maria who is fouled in the box, and Higuain slots the penalty away 5 mins later and the lead is doubled, after Kompany powers in aheader from a corner. City look in control until 80 minutes when hart drop kick lands to Aguero on teh half way line, he control and dinks a superd shot obver hart and into teh nets, 7 minutes later, wilshere thread in Silva who round the kepper to make it level, 5 mins into added time chelsea get a corner, hart comes and misses and luiz volleys in at the far post to send the away support mentalk and get chelsea 3 points.

Spurs 1 v 1 Madrid
Falcao(45+1) Ronaldo(46)

a tale of two Goal either side of the half, in teh first in of added on time robben dinks it far post to Falcao for an easy tap in , but a min after teh braek ronaldo slips past two defenders and finishs round teh keeper, both sides had chances to win it but none were taken.

Man.U 0v2 Arsenal
Subotic(43)
