Scotland: De Luca out, Matt Scott to the bench for Ireland
Interesting bit of new for Scotland fans - De Luca has pulled out, Max has moved to 13 and Matt Scott is now on the bench:

Crying shame because Nick was excellent in the last match but I am absolutely delighted to see Scott get a chance.
Just hope to shoite that Robinson doesn't bring him on as a prop or something equally tonto.

It's a shame for De Luca but it's a position in which we have excellent cover in Max Evans and Matt Scott coming onto the bench.
Andy Nicol things we're going to win, so that means only one thing......

That they should never had removed the 'facepalm' icon as an option on these boards.funnyExiledScot wrote:It's a shame for De Luca but it's a position in which we have excellent cover in Max Evans and Matt Scott coming onto the bench.

Why do we have to work so much harder to score points than other teams???

I don't know mate - I'm actually trying very hard to work out whether it's the system of play or just the quality of the players.funnyExiledScot wrote:Why do we have to work so much harder to score points than other teams???
It's mystifying in light of Glasgow being so competitive in the Robocop.

International rugby is a step up and our players aren't good enough. Simples.

Part of the problem is our backs play 200 yards behind the gain line and run no lines
Is so poor an under 15 team would be better at tactics.

Our young players will be good enough, give them time. We won't win at international level until our pro sides are regularly reaching the quarter finals of the Heineken to do that we need more sides so that we can bring in foreigners much like Clermont, Leinster, Munster etc. Therefore the other players will get game time at a reasonably high level so they're good enough to play if absolutely neccesary for Scotland. Our best players will play Ireland's best, France's best, England's best and Wales' best, then they will discover that running at the opposition repeatedly doesn't work at the highest level nor does going sideways all the time. How many of our players today have played at the highest level of European rugby in comparison to the Irish? Only two, Ireland had more Heineken cup winners than that yet individually they're not that much better than us, they have more composure because they have to otherwise their team gets knocked out and they lose their place on the other hand behind Hogg there is Murchie, behind Scott there's Houston, behind Laidlaw there's Godman they need top quality foreigners at the pro clubs to push our players to the next level the younger players and the "club" standard players could go to the other teams meaning that if they have a big improvement it will be seen, they won't be lost to the system. The difference today was that the Irish have been at the pinnacle if European rugby, they play and train regularly with the best our best train with average players who are unlikely to oust them. The Irish are experienced winners, they have to be ours aren't because they aren't pushed at club.

Delighted for Matt Scott getting his first cap - shame about the circumstances, and another example of Robinson being forced to blood a talented youngster, but great for him to get the opportunity

It's just a shame that Matt Scott's introduction to international rugby will have to be playing 13 outside of Graeme Morrison. I'd actually rather he waited until the summer tour when we can get him playing at 12.
