What was Nadals injury?
First topic message reminder :
I just remembered that Nadal took time off after the AO, pre-planned because of an injury, and now he's back at Indian Wells I've not seen any sign. In fact he looks as good as ever.
Any Nadal follower know what it was?

Just to clear a few things up as you have both obviously been concerned and maybe a little confused about why Nadal took time off after the AO. ..
All he says makes perfect sense to you, isn't it? Even when he is confusing, you can read his mind and translate his english. That's wonderful.

Re: What was Nadals injury?
It's not that hard to understand NITB.
Abu Dhabi: 'Shoulder not 100% but improving.'
AO: 'My shoulder is better now, but I did not get a chance to practice in December.'
Month off: 'As I could not practice in December, I have to practice in Feb.'
It's not that hard to understand. Nadal's shoulder was not injured during February. It was a wise option, a precaution so it doesn't resurface and a chance to catch up on practice. Fully understandable decision.

I am sorry sometimes you just have to accept your limitations. There are some things in life that may be difficult for you to grasp. I could try and explain things to you but I am sure you would not understand...

If it's anything to do with Nadal being humble and cute, then yes, I admit my limitations, I'll never "understand"

Where do you come up with your excuses?
We all know Nadal was never injured if he was he would have been out on injury, but yet he played the AO not looking remotely injured
So why then take time off tour and claim he is out on another joint injury?
If he wanted to take time off tour to practice for the rest of the season, why use a shoulder injury as an excuse when he could simply just say so?

I heard he has a few weeks left in his agenda after the USO for a niggling injury. Stay tuned for more news on this.

I recall he said he would need to rest his shoulder injury after the AO,don't you remember him saying that when he said he will be out on injury in February?

Re: What was Nadals injury?
When did Nadal say that he wasn't going to play in February ? late December
Did he say that he had been experiencing a shoulder injury which had affected his practice ? Yes
Did he say that he wanted the time to practice ? Yes
Did he miss any mandatory events ? No
Was he managing his schedule ? IMO Yes (no issue with that)
So what's the problem. Players are in charge of their own schedule. I think it was quite clear what he said when he decided not to play in February.

Re: What was Nadals injury?
I am sure all the guys who play a full schedule have some knocks here and there that they can rest. So his statements aren't inconsistent. I doubt there is a 100 percent healthy guy on the entire tour. Maybe he wanted to rest a niggle and get practice, I don't know what all the controversy is about.

Apart from provoking Nadal fans I don't see any other reason for this comment.

A locked thread to public viewers looks like too much internal strife. I am hoping rational minds prevail over irrational vitriol.
If there is a capability to be good, posters can continue to be good. . I have immense faith in the 606v2 community.

Good move to reopen, much appreciated. The moderation on here is so far ahead of the old 606 it's untrue.

Be careful, notoriety vs fame. Which one do you want?

The key difference is that there's connection - I should know, I get my share of pms - and the result is we have a forum that is lively and stimulating, but stays generally civil and the right side of libel laws.
And as far as fame v notoriety, as Wilde said there is only one thing In life worse than being talked about and that is not being talked about.

We have two great mods in tennis who do a super job. I just pop in from time to time to play the bad guy.

Re: What was Nadals injury?
I do wish players could go without mentioning injuries. As far as you're out on the court, there should be no room for excuses which denigrates your opponents victory. Federer and Murray are the most laudable of the top 4 for this with few exceptions so I can understand a fan of any of both deriding Nadal's injury excuses but it's a little ironic coming from a fan of Nole who was the biggest drama queen on tour before his winning run last year citing every ailment under the sun. This quickly re-surfaced towards the end of last season when he lost a few games. A fan of Nole mocking Nadal's injury excuses would be akin to Jelena Jankovic calling out Azarenka for feigning injury: simply laughable.
I'll prefer though, players could man up and not allude to any ailments once they step out on court. It's not very classy. I suspect Murray's shocker in the US Open against Cilic a couple of seasons back had a lot to do with his wrist injury but he never alluded to it. That's classy and gracious.

Some of the injuries are very visible and cannot be avoided and kept out of discussion.

Being a fan of a specific player does not bestow any bragging rights over the fans of another player. Such a liberty leads to the inevitable GOAT debates. My players are better than yours never ends well.

Being truthful, when specifically asked, is a better policy, IMVHO. Admission of an injury does not make a player any lesser in their accomplishments. I am in no way implying that, injuries should be the only topic of discussion, in all press conferences, though. Murray, specifically being British, may have some social drivers in such discussions.
