i think its time people started giving england some credit- thats what we hear every game, its hard to play when a team is in your face like this england one. the dominance shown in the physicality is making you make mistakes.
This is the only thing that winds me up about these forums.....france were awful, wales just managed to win despite being awful, ireland are awful.....surely you seemingly intelligent fellas can see a common denominator here?

Nah Wales were slightly on top and lucky to win let's be fair. They deserve the gs though.

Yeah Ross is so key. And we need to get decent backup for him. Court is clearly not up to it. Game-changing.

But it will give them more ground in the irb rankings and every decimal could count by the end of the year for the 2015 WC pool placings.

Kidney really has to go. His selections have been poor and he sends he guys out with zero gameplan. Let's face it this England team have got a decent pack and a good kicker but that's it.

We were murdering the scrum before Ross went off.
1-15 England better, complete hammering. Ireland didn't turn up, loved Croft dominating the so called world class Ferris. He'll love that after been on the opposite end a few times.

Well thats what we get for only having one tighthead in our 22. Once Mike Ross went off injured we all knew what was coming.
Congratulations England, well deserved

Well, I wasn't expecting that! Awesome England scrum (and forwards in general). Morgan is immense - thank jeebus he's English
Ireland? Well, we owed you one after you've shamed us a LOT recently!
If Lancaster doesn't stay I'll be annoyed big time.

Given the grief we got about last year's performance against Ireland, it's going to be difficult for me to be magnanimous about this. Particularly with my Irish housemate

Calm down, Ross clearly injured plus Croft is very good but he didn't exactly dominate Ferris. England did thoroughly dominate Ireland though and deserved the win.

No scrums lost by Wales or England. The Welsh front row conceded 2 penalties and the English 3.

Don't forget they did play the extra game against France, these Irish players are used to playing 2 weeks then having 1 off, they have played 3 hard games on the trot, they must be exausted.

Re: England vs Ireland match discussion thread
Congrats England. A thoroughly deserved victory against a team that was decidedly second best.
Getting rid of Kidney is not the answer to Ireland's problems. They simply don't have the cattle to compete in key positions. The absence of O'Connell and O'Driscoll only adds to this point. The shortage of decent props and a decent scrum decided this match - it was men against boys from early on.
The departure of Ross doesn't bode well for Leinster and the remainder of their season. This defeat and the overall poor performance in the 6N will weigh heavily on European campaigns.
Ireland are definitely in the lower tier of the 6N for now. Congrats to England on another brilliant Championship - probably the best team this season. Hope it goes well for them in SA.
New Zealand, meanwile, must be chuckling quietly......

I think we're talking to wingers here I don't remember the english scrum being 'bettered' in any game....I even posted in a lively discussion about scrummaging just prior to the wales game. This england pack will be unbeatable soon, and in fairness hasn't been beaten yet. The welsh front row just about had parity with some unusual binding by jones. But hey ho, you sees whatcha wanna!! (oh...and we've got almost twenty years on 'em)

Woohoo!
Didn't expect that! Tight five mullering!
Look, sorry Ireland, but honest I haven't seen a scrum destroyed - and I mean DESTROYED like that in years!
Why do the Irish only appear to have 7 men on the field? Because the other eight are underneath the English pack!
Tiiiiigers! Tiiiiiiigers! Ooops sorry hic!
Oh, and MASSIVE credit to the Irish for not going uncontested. Takes men...

Not really Pot. Its not good for anyone if thats the form Ireland will bring here.
Hansen may be chuckling as it means his debut as coach might be a little easier and he may be able blood some youngsters as weve many all of a sudden putting their hands up.
But for Ireland to send a new coach with a below par team would be tragic for whoever that is.
I can see the tour being relegated to seconds in terms of priority. Pity as the Wales and English tours now look to be very competitive.

Re: England vs Ireland match discussion thread
Well done England with a display that proves England are moving in the right direction. Last year both on and off the field the team were poor at best.
Hopefully this turnaround is largely due to the new coach and key pkayers taking a good look at themselves. I thought England were on an upward curve when they dealt to oz a couple of years ago in the AI's.
Trouble is they seem to think so too and the wheels fell off somewhere. Same thing seems to have happened to Ireland since the wcup match vs oz.
That scrum effort reflected real discipline and resolve to get it to that effort so the signs are looking very good.
A England Wales match next week would be interesting such is the improvement rate of this squad.
Oz and SA can look forward to some great matches based on the last few weeks.
Well done.

What you have to remember is that teams improve with international experience. By the time this England scrum took the field today, they had played twice as many games together (4) as when they played Wales last month at HQ (2)

Middle tier. There are three distinct tiers.
Wales, England
Ireland, France
Italy, Scotland
Wales, England
Ireland, France

I think you've probably got it right there: the Irish team didn't expect this and had gone into shock.
Did anyone predict this? I certainly didn't. I think the last time I saw this sort of destruction was Tigers/Wasps a few seasons back in the Premiership! Internationally? Er...

England vs Australia is the 2007 World Cup springs to mind. Based once again on a devastating scrum.
Post match passions run high so I will refrain from posting as it will descend into hyperbole. Worst display of any Irish team, and I have been a proper fan since the late 80s/early 90s so I have seem some turgid tripe. Ruined my St Patricks Day. I'm sober now which is a crime. Well done to England and a monster performance from their front row. If Lancaster doesn't get the England job then the RFU is even more unfit for purpose that I thought.

Hard to remember a game where the ball was dropped so many times (by both teams) - of which Croft (after a fantastic break it has to be said) was probably the pick. Given that every time it happened it meant scrum time you have to wonder if England started just dropping the ball for the hell of it

Very poor from Ireland up front. With the mayhem in front of them their much vaunted backrow evaporated. The substitutions added precisely nothing.Cannot remember a worse performance by Ireland.
England appeared great upfront but poor behind the scrum.Same old same old.May have been Dickson's last cap, poor fella had a mare.Farrell looks like a 10 that suits the English game.Cole was very impressive.Papers will rave about Morgan but Cole did it for England today.

Would have been nice to have given motm to the front row as a unit but Cole was the pick and has been great all championship. Cant really argue with Morgan as he was great all the way through the game.
Farrell - some of the kicking was sublime but he did seem to kick it away a lot. But then given the conditions and Ireland being so kind as to hand the ball back at every opportunity maybe it wasnt so dumb.
