Does anyone talk about Chunky anymore?
Very quiet on the Chunky Degale front - the man has almost disappeared of late. Has a defense lined up in April. Anyone excited to see him fight again? His PR (and subsequently i imagine his pay days), have dipped loads since Groves.

Hmmmmm intriguing article. I was thinking the same over the weekend "Where has Chunky gone?".
Has a defence in Italy or somewhere i believe, not much in advertising.
I wouldnt have though the loss to Groves has been the blame, purely as it was a hotly contested decision.
Be interesting to see where he goes should he be successful in April

He doesn't seem to be as brash anymore. When I heard about the Groves world title fight I imagined Degale would be spouting off some rubbish but nothing. Tough fight away from home against an experienced fighter as well.

He doesn't seem to even exist anymore, obviously Warren isn't pushing him as Chunky is trying to leave, and he has literally gone underground. God, he might become a Sauerland fighter and parade around on german RTL channel like the Klits! Will have to learn German though, that seems unlikely haha.
But seriously, he is vanishing, curse of the gold medalists.

Looked a tad poor in his last outing though the guy he faced was teak tough. His antics leading up to the Groves made him about as popular as Junior Witter. Being on NoxNation and looking a bit poor afterwards has hurt him a lot.

Sanavia's a veteran, not the worst option Degale could have taken in fairness. And it's at a neutral venue. Not bad at all

I think he made a mistake leaving Warren.

If he goes to Matchroom then it was the right move for me Manos.

Think the timing of the Warren spat was unfortunate, no fans will ever cry over someone leaving Frank because rightly or wrongly he is not overly popular but on the back of the Groves loss and what was seen as fairly poor conduct on Degale's part before and after the fight what he needed more than anything was a shot in the arm PR wise and getting back to fighting regularly and keeping his head down is about the best way of doing that, pretty easy for a promoter of Warren's size to keep him out of sight if he chooses as losing the purse bids for this proves.

Im not really sure if Matchroom are all that much better than Warren. I think Warren has the better contacts in the governing bodies, especially the WBO.
No idea what kind of contracts they offer the fighters but if I was an upcoming fighter or a fighter with world level limitations then I would prefer to go with Warren.
It could have been DeGale in line for a world title shot had he not left. That would have been domestic, european and world title shots all in quick succession that Warren delivered.

I was just meaning pure and simple Sky coverage.

Re: Does anyone talk about Chunky anymore?
Basically his fan base I feel is slowly diminishing because of his loss to Groves and his disapearance from sky tv.
This is especially detrimental to Degale as if his fan base slowly declines, he can no way build up his fan base again due to not that many people subscribing to boxnation.

Re: Does anyone talk about Chunky anymore?
The only reason he has not been promoted recently is because he is trying to leave his promoter... so not surprise really.
As for the Groves fight, it was such a close fight it has not hampered him at all apart from looking a fool with all his pre fight talk, none the less most would say he wont that fight, and the better Groves does it will only highlight more value to Degale..
Also it will be interesting to see how the Abraham v Wilczewski fight goes as I think Wilczewski was a tough fight and Degales win more value that he was given credit for, especially give the pressure he was under to get a win after the Groves fight.
As for leaving Warren, I think Warren bringing in Groves was un loyal to Degale and a little bit careless.. And I cant blame Degale for having his nose put out of joint if that was the reason..

Do please elaborate.....
