First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has teleported to Mexico City for the first qualifying match for RWC 2015. There's also TVs showing Aviva Premiership, Rabobank Pro 12 and Super XV action.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of the Grand Slam Winners or Dan Carter who returns to rugby this weekend.

Just in from a friend, after I changed my email from GMAIL (basterds) to Yahoo(lesser basterds).
He has his own IT Company in Paris. A Franglais. Man's a genius and a toker.

This, is what he wrote:

It's all about 'targeted marketing' and 'data mining' and 'user profiling' - but it's for your own good – this way Google can tailor your searches to automatically locate all pubs and other nightspots of ill repute instead of the local chapter of the Amstelveen quilt-making and embroidery association…

…of course – if you write back to me on this my 'gmail' address – Google can still get as invasive as they like about the content of your email – worse still, you'll be blissfully unaware of this…

…in fact – I find the best policy is to do what all internet savvy kids do these days – construct an outrageously fictitious online persona while keeping your serious – real-life interactions where they were always meant to be – down the pub you were trying to locate back in the middle of the first paragraph… ;-)

Cheers dude!

Caspar.

Radio 2 are reporting that Stuart Lancaster's got the England job full time. Fair play to him.

Gibbo, Laugh

Morning all. Lovely morning this morning so I decided to walk down to work from Holborn, wound up bumping into a Kiwi ex-workmate I last caught up with 3 years ago.

The chance to grab a decent coffee and the sight of a young lady in <ahem> denim hotpants & knee-high boots means the day is off to a good start.

England are within 100 runs of victory with five wickets in hand. I love Test cricket.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but have any of the Irish regs seen that Ruaidri Murphy is making his first start for the Brumbies this weekend?

It'll be a cliff hanger I think.

Following cricket and supporting NZ helps me understand how neutrals can want the ABs to lose on occasion. And after visiting Sri Lanka and seeing their passion for the game I have a soft spot for them (I vividly remember walking past a school on Saturday and stopping to watch for a while as there were about 100 people watching, including one commentating with a megaphone, as a bunch of kids played a game using a tennis ball.)

Sri Lanka won by 75 runs. Some good bowling but some brainless shot selection from batsmen who should know better (Andrew Strauss and Kevin Pietersen, I'm looking at you).

Nutter.

Man Kiwi, he must be Super-Human, or as you say - a nutter. Now a 220km Pub-crawl, that would make some sense.

My bros boss trekked across the Antarctic with a team and it cost a fortune to himself and in sponsorship. Not to mention the perils of the trip.
Why didnt he just go Ryan Air? Ok, he would probably have landed in Nieuew Zeeland and would have had to take a ferry, but hey, thats a trek in itself.

Can't get over this weather to be honest. I made the error of running back from the gym yesterday (2 miles). Way too hot for that caper.

Trying not to drink much now, but this weather is perfect for it.

Grand Lucky. I'll send you a test email and save the address. I love dogs and we live just on the edge of a park... be grand. But its a major committment. MrsG and I cant even pass a pet shop. We'd be in like Flynn if one of them looked up with sad eyes.. "take me home, take me home"... that would be it. Love em.

Hoi Rev. Great to have you back butt. Hope you are back for a while man. MrsRev must be well happy. Ale

You going to the HC Final bud?

So Lancaster has got the job. He made it very difficult for Ritchie not to appoint him by getting the rugby public firmly behind him. A clear case of 'the peoples' choice'.

For much of the 6N England struggled to form coherent attacks. On the bright side, Wayne Smith should make a difference.

He fully deserves it Hound. Really like that guy. He has changed England overnight. In every aspect. Such courage. And its paid off. The players are really responding to him. Thats a great sign. Great move by the RFU.

Something here about Heaslip and the reason for his dip in form.. He's been playing for 6 years straight FFS. Missed next to NO games in that period. Ireland, Leinster and the Lions. Man needs a rest. Look what it did for Kearney, and hopefully Fitz, Cullen and BOD now. No one wants a forced rest, but it can be a major plus in the long run. They should take POM, Jenno/Dom Ryan and McLaughlin to NZ and leave him home, imo.

I actually do need to put petrol in the car after work today - fingers blydi crossed there'll be enough left!

Swanny, the Government have been something else, haven't they? In attempting to assuage fears they've made things a whole lot worse. That's some achievement.

EDIT: Bonne chance, Blue Bug!

Yeah I am going Gibbo. Long overdue to meet Aslongas and see a load of you guys again. Home for a week now, then a little day job (allegedly) next week in Europe).

Lucky, are you going to the Dodger then? I think I'll get there a bit late, but if I have time I'll walk over.

Lucky, haven't they just!!

And all those idiot drivers have created the precise situation they were afraid of in the first place. Doh

I have about 100 miles of fuel left and normally fill up when I've got about 50 miles worth left. Two days to and from work will account for 60 miles so that means I'll be ready to fill up on Saturday morning. Will I be able to? Only if drivers revert to their normal behaviour pretty darn quick. mad

Ok, spleen vented. Now will someone please take this soapbox away me before I hurt myself Laugh

The media haven't helped things either. All those reporters at petrol stations and every single driver who turns up and sees a camera crew will start to panic. So well played, media.

I know. Would have loved to have been able to sit in the parc this morning and listen to the cricket. Want to go to the parc now actually and just scoff some ice cream and go for a stroll. I wonder why offices can't be designed to have retractable roofs for when the weather is good? that would be amazing right now!

Love your thinking Rava. thumbsup

If it were me it would have probably gone through the wash... like some business card I had the other day. I discovered nothing but a thin piece of film with traces of illegible print on it. Fat lot of use that is! Laugh

Can you slip out for a bit? Tell them you think you're developing DVT and only have partial feeling in your groin area. Smile

I'm the only one in the office, so I could probably finish now and no one would know. But that would weigh heavily on my conscience. Wink
