eugh, terrible set from Monaco. No first serves and errors galore, just don't see how he's going to win a game here playing like that.
Djokovic looks sharp though. Interestingly the court looks a lot quicker in the evening matches, does anyone know when the final is scheduled for?

Whats with Monaco? How did he come to SF? He should be slapped by umpire and sent home to farm cattle. What a joke. Not even a training session for Djoko.

Monaco takes a game! Djokovic with some lousy returning and it's enough for Monaco to cash in. Novak needs to be a little careful he doesn't get dragged down to Monaco's level a bit here...

Oh dear. At this rate Novak might have to charge JM for the lesson. Shades of the sort of treatment meted out to poor Juan by Fed in that lightning-quick USO encounter last year ........
Here's hoping he can make a fight of it in the second .....

Well, in their infinite wisdom they split the semis into two separate sessions, so you have to buy a separate ticket for each semi. Luckily, both semifinals have had similar amount of drama today, so it makes little diffrence which one you have the tickets for.

Re: Miami 2012 Semifinal: Djokovic Monaco
has anyone hit a winner yet this set?
Novak really dipping in that game, he's been doing this a bit recently, almost trying to "bully" (I mean that in a nice way) his opponents out of the match early on, but if they stick with him he seems to drop his level a bit.

thanks
so slower conditions, which you'd think favours Djokovic, but also hotter, which favours Murray I think. Also Murray is more used to the early afternoon slot (Djokovic's last two matches at least have been evening, whereas Murray hasn't had the evening slot all tournament).

nice FH from Djokovic in that game (I won't mention the attempted drop volley ), but this set has been pretty ordinary from both so far...

Not sure who to root for on Sunday. Early on, I used to root for Andy in their matches as I think he is capable of having a bit more variety to his game. However, over the years he has annoyed me with how defensively he often chooses to play, so lately I have been more on Nole's side.

Re: Miami 2012 Semifinal: Djokovic Monaco
well there's the break, Djokovic hitting with good depth and just patiently waiting until Monaco misses, which he duly does. This one will be over in a few minutes, thank goodness...

I don't disagree. The first set Novak was very good, Monaco awful. Second set both have been pretty poor. Monaco with a 0-30 opportunity, hopeless FH error

That forehand is definitely not a thing of beauty and has been a liability so far.

Monaco "earns" a BP, but three more loose errors give Novak the 4-2 lead.

seriously, 16 bounces before a SECOND serve? works though, and as long as you get away with it...

second serve should follow the first immediately isn't it? 16 bounces is in no way immediate, sorry.

not really, just pointing out that your "he's not doing anything wrong" argument doesn't hold water when he's breaking the rules on every point...

Let's face it, he is not the speediest one there. Timed him on the first three points and he was taking 31/36/35 seconds. That is right up there with Nadals of this world.

Monaco now almost looks like he can play tennis. He also successfully managed to bore Djoko to sleep. So they are playing almost on even terms now.
