The US Open Draw
29th August is just around the corner and another slam will soon be upon us.
The draw is done later today. How do you see it going?

Murray and Fed will get easy draws, Nadal will get a tough 1.

Andy Murray plays Somdev Devvarman in the 1st round of the US Open. He's in Rafa's half.
Federer and Djokovic in the same half of the draw.

Soderling, Del Potro in the same half as Murray-Nadal.
Monfils-Djokovic QF possible.
Tsonga is in Federer-Djokovic half. Fish, too.

Re: The US Open Draw
Okay Murray should at least get to the QF. He should be able to cope with Soderling but I would be less certain of Del Potro - although his recent performances have not been particularly good - so maybe he is tired from his first season back after the long lay-off. So maybe we should expect Murray to make at least the semi-final.Y I Man wrote:From twitter:

Re: The US Open Draw
Not sure why fans are against Federer and Nadal being in seperate sections of the draw. What better time for Murray and Djokovic to make the final. Djokovic beat Federer last year and at the Australian Open and Murray has beaten Nadal in the last 2 GS meetings on Hard Courts.

"Don't get started on the conspiracy theories again"
To be fair, there's a lot of weight to this argument- when was the last time Fed and Djoko were NOT in the same half? It defies belief.

I suppose on paper (and given Nadals record so far on the hard courts this year) - it should be a great opportunity for Murray to make another final.

Before conspiracy theories fly around, consider that the rankings have changed hands galore over the years. Draws are made by seedings, not name.

Re: The US Open Draw
Federer and Djokovic being in the same half is getting a bit predictable but, on present form, I think Djokovic will be quite pleased to have Federer. In fact, looking at Fed's quarter, even getting to the semi final is far from certain.

Exactly LK. Also, the draw doesn't have a 'memory', it doesn't take in to account who has been paired together in the past. Each time it's a 50/50 shot of #1 playing either #3 or #4.

Re: The US Open Draw
I can't believe Fed ended up with all the guys who are likely to trouble him.
He gets Big F*ing Bird and Monga Tsonga all in his quarter.
Then the bluudy Fish in the quarter.
Then the Robot in the semi.
I'm so I'm gonna break my lap top.

Re: The US Open Draw
Murray has Wawrika again? Hmmm. Knocked him out last year, pushed him really hard at Wimbledon under the roof. Could be tough.
Soderling and Delpo are 2 players he has a good record against, but when Murray gets knocked out of slams early it is almost always against big hitters. They don't come bigger than those 2.
Potentially tough draw for him.

No, Berdbrain is in Djokovic's quarter.
Fish and Tsonga in the same quarter, so I suspect Roger will be a Mardy fan there.
Murray has some dangerous opponents in there.
Nadal has nobody. It is the USO, after all.

Re: The US Open Draw
No doubt that in 2009 Murray went out to players with big FH's.
I think provided he doesn't drop any sets in the first 2 rounds, he should have a decent tournament. Avoid the dips in concentration, he can be a big threat.

Tsonga is gonna beat Fed for sure.
He'll just blast Fed off the court and serve at over 90% first serves.
I hope he gets injured before round 4.

Fish-Tsonga must fight first.
Bellucci, Tomic/Cilic, Stepanek/Troicki, Fish/Tsonga, Djokovic/Monfils, Nadal/Murray is the projected route.
Murray's quarter is tough on the upper side (Soderling, Bogomolov, Isner, Del Potro, Simon). He also has Haase as second round.

Nadal has Golubev, Mahut, Looby/Nalby, Melzer/Youzhny/Gulbis, Ferrer/Almagro (recall the Verdasco/Ferrer five-setter), Murray/Soderling, Djokovic/Federer as projected route.

Djokovic - Federer semifinal draw AGAIN??!!!
After a lovely day on the Porthole beach in St Ives, broke my web-free holiday bliss just to check the draws for USO.... only to find out that Djokovic and Federer are in the same half of the draw for the upteenth time ... Needless to say I am not surprised.
You know what I think about it, how about you?

Depending how far they both get and on Novaks fitness, Roger will be trying hard to put on a good show.
However would fancy Novak to beat him if as I say he is fit.

More Federer Nadal draw fixing by the US open, I know lets see know 6 straight grandslams with Djokovic getting Fed as opposed to murray, I know this odd 1/64 coincidence that benefits Fed and Nadal and the tv broadcasters is just bad luck for Djokovic. And good luck for everyone wanting another boring one-sided Fedal final. The draws fixed? Who could make such a ridiculous argument. Djokovic not only has to beat the entire tour but he has to defeat the draw rigging committees at each of the grandslams. A 50 percent probability of getting Fed and Novak has gotten fed 6 times in a row. Yeah JM, it looks like they are using a double headed coin for this draw.

Re: The US Open Draw
It is just sad that for one ratings boon in a final that the grandslam committees are playing with the credibility of the entire sport. Djokovic should call them on their fraud, but he won't because he doesn't want to get crucified by the media. It is clear that even at #1 he will always have the tougher semi opponent for marketing preferences. When Roger starts to fade and murray gets stronger then they will start giving him murray in every semi to create the facade that it all evened out. THE FIX IS IN!

Re: The US Open Draw
Socal does it really make that much of a difference?
Fed probably wont even make it to the semi.
In any case, I'm pretty sure Novak fancies his chances against both Fed and Nadal.

Re: The US Open Draw
If Murray was to win the US Open for argument sake, do you think come AO they will want to have Murray and Djokovic in the same half of the draw? Not likely. There is every chance that Nadal and Federer will never be drawn in the same half all time they are in the top 4.
