Lee vs Chavez
http://www.limerickpost.ie/index.php/navigation-mainmenu-30/dropline-menu-mainmenu-34/4387-andy-lee-lands-world-title-fight.html
"Irish Kronk Middleweight star Andy Lee (28-1, 20KOS), ranked WBC #4. WBA and WBO #2 will challenge Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (45-0-1, 31 KOs) for his WBC world middleweight title on June 16 on HBO's "World Championship Boxing" at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.
Lou DiBella, (Lee's promoter) commented "The Chavez-Lee fight is done between me and Bob Arum, CEO Top Rank. We've agreed to everything and we are putting everything to paper. And now we're working on the contract for the winner to face Martinez. Arum and I have had substantive conversations and I'm confident we will get that done in short order too."
Thoughts on this fight and a possible showdown vs Martinez for the winner? I'd make Lee a live underdog for this one and its a decent fight provided the winner fights Martinez.

Re: Lee vs Chavez
Joke of a fight. Love the way Chavez get slaughtered here for not fighting Martinez, but the moment a brit is anounced as his challenger, all is almost forgiven.
Lee is less than good and Chavez should fight Marty and Marty next.

Cant see Lee winning this one and think theres a strong chance he gets stopped.
Seems like Chavez/Martinez is genuinely moving closer as a possibility though.

Manos, how do you get confidence that a fight with Martinez being closer from the above? Cleverely and Warren keep talking about a fight with Hopkins, but we all know that is bo11ocks. If Chavez is half the ducker Clev is, we can expect more tin cans for him to knock over in the future. I have absolutely zero confidence in Arum making this or anyother meaningful fight

Don't wanna turn it into a nationality debate but Lee classes himself as Irish. I don't mind this fight provided the winner fights Martinez. Its about time Lee fought someone. Manny's been bigging him up for years despite his average opposition.

I just get the feeling from Roach that he might actually fancy beating Martinez and that the fight is is not being dismissed. Also as promoters go I have time for DiBella so if he says hes confident the fight will come off I think it means that there is at least some kind of positive movement on it.

I think he has a chance. Has a decent jab, good shot selection and reasonable power in both hands. He looks good when given time and allowed to put it all together. Just worried that he hasn't looked great when put under pressure and Chavez will no doubt do that. Also can be very easy to tag at times. Hope he does it.

Re: Lee vs Chavez
Don't think he has a chance tbh. He has struggled vs weaker oposition like McEwan and Vera and frost really have any names on his CV. Chavez is really flawed but is a pressure fighter and lee might take a lot of punishement. May take a few rounds for Chavez to figure out the southpaw stance and jab but he will walk him down and beat him up
