Anyone seen that if Clermount or Edinbourgh win the HC then Wasps qualify for it.

how's that work Driver? assume that is based on there being a Wasps for next season? I've just got my ticket for the Newcastle game - Varndell should be back for that!

It was my post on the Bath board. Those ERC rankings are from last summer, when you update them for this year's competition you are the highest ranking club not to have already qualified, so would get an HC place if a) Clermont win the HC, b) Edinburgh win the HC, provided of course that you don't get relegated!

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
France will get 7 courtesy of a French team winning the Amlin, so if ASM win the Heino they cannnot get an 8th team in. Likewise Scotland cannot have 3, so the remaining place goes to the highest ranked side not already qualified, which it would appear could be Wasps. However it could be Biarritz, if they fail to win the Amlin and don't qualify through the T14, as they are ranked higher than Wasps in the European rankings.

That's very odd as in theory they could be playing Champ rugby if they slip into Admin for 6 weeks.

Think we are going to try and take over the brand London Welsh soon - that's 4 additional Welsh players. I understand the Stephen Jones signing and think the two young props will add something to us.
Just dont know how we are making these signings when we are just above the administration line! I wonder if the timing of the announcement yesterday and that of today are there to bump up the asking price a little bit for the club.

Played 2 or 3 games and has been solid and done the basics well. Certainly not immense or ripping up any trees. Think he will be when he is fully up to speed though

AJ will be a good signing beast Of a carrier and good offload. In great form. Think he is best used as an impact sub.

Does AJ mostly play at no8? Wasps will have a pretty good backhoe next year Haskell Poff and AJ
Not best message to send out to Launchbury Jones and Vunipola though.
Really not a fan of Dae Young - don't like seeing wasps sign all the foreign players - espc when we have a great batch of youngsters coming through

AJ not in great form, hardly started a game this S15. Been mainly used from bench. He's a good carrier but offers little else really. Odd signing

AJ in quite a few teams of the week last week when he started. They have been using him as an impact sub and for me that's where he is best. His 2nd half cameos for the cheetahs this year have been top. I watch a lot of super 15 and he has been really good. . England cry out for impact subs. Bench so important.

Hape retired! Jesus
Do you think the cash for retirements is worth a look at Pete? Big losses.
I'm sure Matt can take the hit he has about 18 centres

Hape is meant to be announcing his retirement from what I read on twitter, think its on planet rugby website now.
seem to be a hell of a lot more retirements recently - could definitely be worth having a look at the retirements rule, maybe not giving more money but maybe if we have a pre-existing list of semi-ok players that a replacement can be selected from instead?

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
Pooly on the link you posted the other day lots of people had him in team of the week.
I do not play him that often as have so many players but he is a seriously useful player and is having a good season.
How they choose to play him does not matter. When saints are not playing Ashton for example because he is leaving does that make him poor??
Look at the way lots of French teams bring on these monsters from the bench to change games it's a way of utilising a player to his best.
I massively get the idea of using someone as an impact sub. They have started him last 2 games I think. However I personally think he is a better impact sub. Good example of using an impact sub has been servat due to his age. Looks great in a 30 minute blast but play him from the start and he has been having a mare.
The way Toulouse and France were using him as an impact sub suited him great. When Toulouse got injuries starting him has not really worked and their lineout etc has struggled. It struggles even worse when they bring on the young monster pete bought after 60 tolofua. That lad may well turn out brilliant bit dam he is raw but so powerful

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
think that benches are massively important in rugby - have banged on and on about England not having the right bench to make an impact for ages - need people who can change a game, pick up the tempo etc and we haven't had that at all.
need to find a backrower who can carry the ball, reckon it will be haskell from next season, a scrum half that can speed the game up, exciting runner for back three etc. We dont have that at all right now.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
Could be a blessing in disguise really. Think Attack/Defence should be separated in the coaching set up but Farrell had remit for both during the 6 nations as "Backs" coach/ For me I'd like to see Smith brought in as Attack coach and Ellis brought in as Defence coach with Rowntree as forwards coach. Could possibly make Rowntree scrum coach and bring some one else in as well as forwards coach but not overly pushed as Rowntree seems to be doing a decent job all round at the moment
