Brive v Scarlets
Looking forward to this game, how do you guys see this one going?
Scarlets really have a good chance to take this one I think.

Brive keeping key players out this game (spedding, swanepoel) - they cant afford to go for the AC.

Re: Brive v Scarlets
whocares, Llanelli aren't playing
Scarlets forwards will be key in this. Start the first half like we did out in Castres then I can see us getting a hard fought win.
But it'll be tough, oh so tough, it always is out in France, but I think we have the talent in the squad and team now to be able to get the win.
It'll certainly be a close one, so nervous for Sunday already!

Re: Brive v Scarlets
Scarlets team against Brive at Stade Amedee-Domenech, Sunday 8th April kick off 8.15pm (French local time): 15 Liam Williams, 14 George North, 13 Gareth Maule, 12 Jon Davies, 11 Andy Fenby, 10 Stephen Jones, 9 Gareth Davies, 1 Rhodri Jones, 2 Matthew Rees (capt), 3 Deacon Manu, 4 Sione Timani, 5 Damian Welch, 6 Josh Turnbull, 7 Johnathan Edwards, 8 Ben Morgan.
Replacements: 16 Ken Owens, 17 Phil John, 18 Peter Edwards, 19 Dominic Day, 20 Kieran Murphy, 21 Rhodri Williams, 22 Rhys Priestland, 23 Sean Lamont.
Scarlets and Wales outside half Rhys Priestland is fit but has been given some time to rest his knee this week and hasn't trained with the squad and starts on the bench. Scotland wing Sean Lamont has been out of training with illness and without training with the squad comes onto the bench as well.

aye not bad, our bench has been key for us in recent games too, just hope Rhys and Monty are okay.
And the team are going to do it for Dan http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/wales/17623304

Yeah was teasing abit - that said you will most of the time see llanelli mentioned when it comes to Scarlets in france...
So brive team featuring some youngster up front : nice to see but dangerous against the experienced welsh pack
Otherwise key players such as mignardi, noon, kakovin and caminati not starting
1- Jefferson POIROT / 2- Virgile LACOMBE (capt) / 3- Pat BARNARD / 4- Julien LE DEVEDEC / 5- Olivier CAISSO / 6- Vincent FORGUES / 7- Alexandre BIAS / 8- Petrus HAUMAN / 9- Jean-Baptiste PEJOINE / 10- Shane GERAGHTY / 11- Sevenaïa GALALA / 12- Riaan SWANEPOEL / 13- Ronnie COOKE / 14- Jacques BOUSSUGE / 15- Mathias ATAYI
16- Iuri NATRIASHVILI / 17- Davit KHINCHAGISHVILI / 18- Alexandre BAROZZI / 19- Retief UYS / 20- Poutasi LUAFUTU / 21- Agustin FIGUEROLA / 22- Scott SPEDDING / 23- Arnaud MIGNARDI
Oh well no change in my predictions, scarlets by 10 at least

Re: Brive v Scarlets
Scarlets are missing: First choice props; Iestyn Thomas and Rhys Thomas, Grand Slam forwards; Lou Reed and Aeron Shingler and the excellent Macusker. Behind, Wales stars Knoyle, Stoddard and Scott Williams are also out. If you add Priestland and Lamont, not fit enough to start. Thats 10 players who would either start or at least be in the 22, a pretty serious injury list!
Two sides shorn of their stars could go either way.

Still fancy us for this. Despite having a number of injuries we've still not only got a good first 15 but also a pretty strong bench.
Tight game but Scarlets to win by 5 or 6.

Re: Brive v Scarlets
Manu and Day fail late fitness tests, so Pete Edwards to start with Gardiner on the bench (he's hardly played for us all season!! and don't think Pete can last a full 80so argh!) Gilbert replaces day on the bench. Happier with that one, he's been great for us in Europe this season.

Re: Brive v Scarlets
Just under an hour till kick off.
Perfect conditions out there apparently.
I feel ridiculously sick with nerves.
Can Scarlets really do it, beat Brive and make sure it's not just French sides through to the SF's in the Amlin?
It's a tough tough ask.
I just want the match to start already!

We have won out there before and we will again.
I heard the NorthMonster is being air lifted in as we speak in his cryogenic chamber.

Re: Brive v Scarlets
righty, I'm off to watch the coverage on S4C.
We've won out in France already this season, no reason why we can't do it again. The first quarter is key. We needs to come out firing. OUr forwards need to play the game of their lives.
I believe. Ymlaen Scarlets!!

Re: Brive v Scarlets
How is Wayne Barnes allowing Brive to get the scrum moving before the ball is even near it?

Re: Brive v Scarlets
scrum may prove to much of a problem for Scarlets to win this, need their backs to produce a sterling performance. Ken on and Rhys.

Not quick enough to the breakdown. Been the same all game. Scarlets won't win this match or have a chance of winning any competition like this.

agreed but Barnes isn't helping. Blatant tackle in the air there and not even a penalty

I agree but Barnes lost control of this match ages ago. Haven't seen such an abbrasiveness performance sine ponty played in the battle of Brive.

Scarlets way too slow at the breakdown, leaving themselves isolated almost every time. TRY!! Well played Liam Williams.

To be fair to Maule, the way he's reffed it so far he would have felt entitled to go for it.
