rabo pro 12 draft
I just saw this interesting question on Facebook and totally store it for a topic here. Its the NFL draft tonight (apparently) and the question goes like this. If ask the teams were set back to zero and a draft system was in place which player would you pick first to build your team around?
My choice would be Adam Jones or gethin Jenkins

John Afoa without a shadow of a doubt.
He is foreign so he is available all year - not playing any international rugby. He is playing excellent rugby and he is still a young player as props go at only 28 years old.

If I was building my team around him, he would have to have experience and be usefull in a couple of areas, so I would go for Ryan Jones.

The NFL Draft won't get interesting until the 3rd or 4th pick. It's a lock who is going one and two.
But anyway, I think I would take Ian Madigan. A guy you build a team around. Afoa comes close as does Healy but I would take Madigan especially with ROG winding down.

Re: rabo pro 12 draft
I know it would take alot of messaging but could we do a draft on here
we would have to have reps from all but two clubs and I am sure there are plenty of Irish that would help out their second team of Connacht.
I'm sure some one would take the italians
You would have to noninate a team picker and then message them.
It also could be done by country so Ireland have four teams as do wales.
You could do each round on current league table so Round 1 leinster would be first O's second etc, Round 2 would be O's, munster you get the picture
so what do you say whose up for it on friday do the first 15.
Also would the draft for newbies help some provinces get the talent shared around more

Pienaar, Afoa, O'Connell and Warburton are all guys to build a team around- I would have to go with Pienaar.

Remember with a draft system (or the NFL one anyway) the team who finished bottom of the standings (worst record in NFL) gets to pick first. That would mean Arioni have first dibs.
What would make it more interesting is if you allowed the teams to keep all their players aged 25 and over and then allowed a draft of all the players under 25.

I guess it would have to be either a solding tighthead like Jones or Afoa, or an inspirational second/back rower like Gray, R Jones, or S O'Brian (even though I don't rate him personally). After all you want someone who can lift the teams performance by leading from the front, and setting an example. And a first choice pick would most likely be the man you would want to put in the captains arm band.

Arioni will not be here next year though.

Not necessarily. The best players aren't always the best leaders and conversely the best leaders aren't always the best players. The top pick for each club would be the cornerstone of the team in terms of performance not necessarily ethos as the players that set the ethos aren't always the big names (Louis Deacon at Tigers or Bouilhou for Tolouse).

That is true, however wouldn't you want to build your team around the player who best represents the team ethos? Unless I guess you know they won't get picked during the first round of the draft.
