I think he will do quite well. He has a history of taking mediocre sides and punching above their weight.

To be fair, that is what England is at the moment. The Harry Redknapp brigade would have started the "we can win the euro's/world cup" chants, if he had become manager.

You know what angers me, how everyone makes Redknapp out to be the messiah of English Football and how great the man is. Yet they ignore the facts, the way he is bigged up you'd say he has won at least one top division title, couple of cups and managed a big team. Why has it taken so long for Redknapp the great to get a job at SPurs (I wouldn't class themas a big club) why did Liverpool take Hodgson or Inter Milan?

I'm not saying Hodgson is better but no way is Redknapp better they are the same to me if anything I think we would do better with Roy. I'm not going to be suckered into beliving how great a man manager Redknapp is ignoring his lack of tactical awareness.

If it was up to me I'd give the job to Stuart Pearce, just like the Football team we lack a good manager and need to start bringing some good ones in.

Suppose so. Average manager for an average team Whistle

Joking of course, Roy > Average. He's a calm head and will do a reasonable job. Just hope he doesn't get treated unfairly.

P.S: To my previous comment, the press will get him fired by the Brazil world cup.

What Roy will bring us is a solid defensive set up. If we had Harry we would be too open like Spurs and that's when we would be destroyed by teams like Spain and Germany. With Roy he will set up defensivally well, giving us at least a chance against these teams. Plus I think with Roy's experience at international level he knows how to manage players well

It's not a personal dig, so relax.

I just mean the whole issue of money. It's not "West Brom must be proud their manager is the new England manager", it's "West Brom are a bit silly for not having Hodgson under a longer contract, now they get no compensation for him".

What's more important? Suppose Paul Lambert leaves Norwich at the end of his contract to become Scotland/Celtic manager? Would it be "We at Norwich are proud that Paul Lambert has got a job that he has dreamed of since he became a manager"? Or is it "Damn, I wish we had him under a longer contract so we could get some compensation"?

I just meant that West Brom should have had him on a longer contract, I mean if it was up in the summer. I'd have thought they would have tied him up for a longer contract a little while ago. The money just makes the blow of losing your manager a little easier to take in my eyes.

I would be proud if Lambert became Scottish manager (not Celtic - they aren't big enough for him). In all honesty I know we are just a stepping stone for Lambert, he will go onto big things in my eyes. I'm glad we have managed to keep hold of him for as long as we have, and long may he stay.

You are not a Norwich or West Brom fan though Marky. Your attitude may change if you were.

If I was a West Brom fan I would think "we have lost a good manager that we were doing well with, to a national team that are already not appreciating him. Plus we are now managerless..............and we lost out on some money"

That's why I'm glad we have Lambert on a longish contract atm, if he does go (and I wouldn't begrudge him if he did) we would get some money for building up his reputation. Swansea are the same with Rodgers

Funny you say that because we are playing them later on this month. Albeit it's Adam Drury's testimonial Laugh

I think we would beat Celtic tbh, I think Celtic are a playoff side in the Championship. They would be one of these clubs that would yo yo from the Prem to the Championship

Derek Draper on Twitter: "Wow, seeing Hodgson at the FA press conference and 'rabbit in the headlights' sprung to mind. He looked lost and had to be bailed out."

Was I watching the same press conference? I thought Roy handled it well. Obviously must be a Harry fanboy!

Oh, thought he was a nonentity of a celebrity.

Roy did look a little fazed. Boring as hell press conference though.

Well who wouldn't be a little fazed by the english media! He is a bit of a boring manager but that's exactly what we need. Someone who can handle players well and keeps a low profile. He is a great coach which is what we need
