Holidays planned this year?

First topic message reminder :

With the weather as grim as ever, it has had me dreaming of warmer climes, and immensely looking forward to my travels this year.

Have any of you guys got holidays booked up?

I've got two weeks in India booked for November, and am sorely tempted to have a weeks beach holiday somewhere in Europe in the summer.

Visa's arrived

leaving next Tuesday, can't wait.

Gia: starting in Shanghai, staying around that area for a few days (Suzhou and Hangzhou planned), Tunxi and the Huang Shan. Fly to Kunming, spend some time there. Quite a bit of time spent in the Yunnan (Gorges, etc.), and finally upto Beijing (stopping along the way to visit the pottery army).

Sounds utterly brilliant, mate. A very similar itinerary that I was looking at.

Have you arranged that with a tour company?

I'm not going anywhere on holiday this year

In fact the last time I went on holiday was to Spain in the summer of 2008

(I have been on school trips to Paris for a week, Berlin/Krakow for a week and Belgium in that time period, but hey, they are school trips! Hardly holiday's )

no tour company Fists, just asked some Chinese friends of ours basically and had a good browze through the guide-books. A bit of a leap into the unknown but should be great fun

Absolutely! The only problem is the language barrier I guess, in terms of ordering tickets at railway stations etc. That's the one thing that makes me want to do it without a tour company.

Make sure you let me know how you get on, bud, as I'll be very interested to find out (and I guess it'd save a few quid to go it alone).

You might not see this before you go but I hope you have a great time too. You're going to a lot of places that I haven't been to so I hope you'll have the time and inclination to do a bit of a write up for us when you get back.
