Pro12 Semi Number 2 Leinster v Glasgow
First topic message reminder :
I would go with the 23 that will take the field in the HC final the following week. (below)
Perhaps swap a few guys around. But we want to A/Win and B/Get the systems in place for the following week.
If we do get a lead going then think about getting people off for the following week. But it is a knockout game against a side that have beaten us in the RDS this year. So I am not expecting anything but a tough game from Glasgow. They have no other distractions and will be well focused on the job.
Resting players? Madness at this point in the season (unless they are injured) If we rest players for this, everyone will get a rest in the Pro12 final when we watch Glasgow travel to the Liberty.
Rule 1 in a knockout game. Win.
Rule 2. There is no rule 2.

Re: Pro12 Semi Number 2 Leinster v Glasgow
I think the moaning is stupid. We can't have English refs for all the Welsh-Irish games because, well... there are mainly busy reffing in England. Occassionally we can have them but not always. And we can't have Scottish refs cause we tried them and they were worse.
So we should have either Welsh or Irish refs. And, if you look at it, Ireland have a lot of referees on the elite panel.

After watching a great game last night this game is lacking any skill so far, Clancy will win this game for Leinster.

I love listening to Troy Nathan on BBC Alba - no pretence at impartiality, just a massive "Yeeeeessss!" when Glasgow dragged Heaslip into touch.

Crucial kick for Sexton, would put more than a converted score in it.
I thought the game might turn into this, Glasgow are notoriously difficult to break down, and its becoming about kicking for goal.

I know it's great. He's completely lost any pretence of neutrality as the game has gone on. He's basically watching the game as a Glasgow fan right now. And fair enough, these are his current teammates on the pitch. A little "Yesss" under his breath when Sexton screwed the kick there

Re: Pro12 Semi Number 2 Leinster v Glasgow
Where to start. Was at the game, so no benefit of replays (and forgot to tape it), but I felt he missed alot of offside, holding the ball, few knock ons went the wrong way. Munster second row so far offside in one lineout was unbelievable....
I don't want to go on, as I'll be badged a whinger. Just glad the Ospreys played well and turned in one of the best perfformances I've seen from them. Saying that, Munster made so many mistakes.
I just think, not having indpendant refs when it gets to this phase, shows complete unprofessionalism by the governing body of the Pro12.

The Leinster scrum half is so so slow, there was nothing wrong with that tackle.

I'd prefer to be a whinger than a winger.
Try for Dave Kearney and that's the game. Well taken good hands and Kearney showed some acceleration I didn't think he had.

Lovely try. Kearney jr is the most exciting young player in the country right now....Zebo was until yesterday....

Rodders, Kearney is more rounded than Zebo at the moment for sure. Zebo is improving in defence and he has a great boot that isn't utilised at Munster, but needs to improve with some decision making. Sure he can always go back to the hurling if all else fails.
Baby Kearney to NZ!!!

Rodder,s we were talking about the merits of ROG/Sexton today. If that was ROG it would have been a try, that's his thang (we'll forget the fact Conway was in front of the kicker)

If Zebo and Dave Kearney are in the running then Gilroy must be as well, I would rate him ahead of Zebo certainly, who I thought demonstrated he isn't ready for international rugby yesterday.

Rodders, I'd say he is bit more like Mike Vick. Can pass pretty well but is an absolutely bullet and can skin defenders.

Biggles - would you say you were an impartial viewer? I though Rolland was ok last night. Was watching BBC and he seemed to ref both sides consistently - was sticky at the breakdown but you're right as regards off-side, he left a lot of it go - but for both sides. He should have carded O'Donnell in the first half.
There should be refs from neutral unions for the play-offs though. I would have though they would have been able to find 2 neutrals from somewhere for this weekend!!

Re: Pro12 Semi Number 2 Leinster v Glasgow
Glasgow had an excellent chance to cause an upset this evening but just weren't up to it. To lose at the RDS is not a shameful act when Leinster play well but Leinster haven't needed to play well today! In my opinion Munster played better last night than both teams tonight and they lost by 35 points!

I don't know if Madigan is into Dog-fighting though, his family own that chain of pubs in Dublin (I think) so you never know what happens after dark.

you are having a laugh buddy, Munster were diabolical, thats not taking anything away from Ospreys, Leinster havent been great tonight, but nowhere near as bad as Munster last night, never mind Munster playing better.

Anyone fed up of the refs using the TMO so often? I know if theres a doubt its better to check but how the touch judge couldnt see that the try there was good is beyond me.

Yup - the touch judge had a perfect view to award that try.

Re: Pro12 Semi Number 2 Leinster v Glasgow
Glasgow can feel hard done by for that last turnover.
So close to another try - which would have given them a chance to win the game from a restart on 80mins, would have been a great comeback.
Pity the ref didn't have the balls to penalise the Leinster player who he had told to let go of the ball about 5 times.

If it weren't for some dodgy kicking, Warriors would have won. Alright game, Leinster were poor enough but Glasgow put it up to them.

Great try by Hogg in the end - little too late though. Two missed penalties in the first half proved very costly.

'hands off, hands off!' Taps Leo sullen on the shoulder. Let's him continue with hands.
Anyone else scratching their head at that one?
Glasgow only got going in attack too late. Leinsters class showed - champions win when they arent playing well.

No they'll lose sleep over the fact that they are playing Leinster in the Rabo final (small fry to Leinster) and not the HC final.

RR. no you are quite correct, I was not impartial, hence said nothing up to know. Don't know why I bit this time, so will let it go.
I did say I was at the game, and you can't see everything then, that's why I like watching again, so that I can have a clearer view. Have changed my mind about ref'ing decisions many times after seeing it back on telly, but forgot to record the game last night, so only got what I remember seeing first hand. Mind you the same can be said for refs, so you have to give them some credit, not an easy job..
That's that. look forward to Leinster in the final :-)

To be honest you'd fancy the Ospreys on current form.
They might face a Leinster backlash after next week though.

Think O's and Leinster will be a cracking game. O's will travel with no fear and will have more than a good chance. Ye were devastating last night - as bad as we were you still have to take your chances - I was glad it didn't pass 50 as it was looking that way with 15 mins to go.

Re: Pro12 Semi Number 2 Leinster v Glasgow
Well done Glasgow, so proud of the way they didn't give up. And to out score Leinster 2 tries to 1 was very impressive. Some of the defence they put in as well, especially whilst a man down. Truly courageous stuff.
Shame about the goal kicking, crucial 8 points gone a begging.
And finally I don't like criticising referees, but George Clancy really is a useless *punt*... Leinster treated the ruck like a swimming pool, constantly diving in...

Ulster don't have any South African props and Leinster starting front row doesn't either, anyway have a pint of on me view, you are a very funny man.
