The Hamilton vs Paice fight! *ding* *ding*

First topic message reminder :

Did anyone see it? a fair few players just lost it. Do you think if we had ban's based on matches instead of weeks, this wouldn't of happened? perhaps the players were thinking the ban will only affect the off season anyway so just got stuck in.

On a side note, check out the L. Irish number 8 around the 1:20 minute mark. Twinkle toes or what! lol

According to sky, Hamilton's ban starts immediately, so ruling him out of the summer tour.

Paices ban does not start until August 10th and runs to Sept 23rd.

That makes sense given it excludes both men from games they were guaranteed to be involved in. Surely there's some sort of legal/equality issue here though, not running the bans concurrently? London Irish are sure to appeal on the grounds that Gloucester are not affected and they are. If anything Gloucester will benefit from this, getting a fully rested and fired up Hamilton from the start of the season.

That's interesting, LT, did the citing panel insist on the differing start dates? is this the first step in the direction of 'match'-related bans rather than time-specific ones? Disappointed that Treviranus and Tagicakibau got off scott-free

Hamilton's ban starts sooner to rule him out of the Scotland games, and finishes on August 19th. Paice's ban runs from August 10th to September 23rd.

As Scotland's last game is 23rd June, this would mean that Hamilton is banned only from the scotland games, with the rest of the ban being dead air, so to speak. Meanwhile Paice misses all of pre season, and the first 4 games of the season.

It could have been worse, Treviranus and Tagicakibau could have been banned too!

Treviranus HAS been banned. Apparently he had a mass brawl by himself.

He's been suspended (they use that instead of banned, so i wonder if the club did it) for 5 weeks and will miss games for samoa.

Should point out that they still have tonight to decide if they want to cite anyone else.

Don't think a club could officially suspend a player for international games. It could be some sort of unofficial ban (along the lines of 'we're banning you so if you play for Samoa we won't be happy') if you think it was from the club, but I also doubt this is likely. Otherwise it will have been handed down by the board.
