surrey vs worcestershire match thread
First topic message reminder :
Chris Adams has named for a thirteen man squad for Surrey’s LV=County Championship match against Worcestershire this week.
Kevin Pietersen is included in the Surrey squad for the first time this season having returned from a winter with England and playing in the Indian Premier League with the Delhi Daredevils. Also included is George Edwards, who has been in excellent form with the ball for the Surrey Second XI.
Jade Dernbach and Stuart Meaker are both away with the England Lions who play the West Indies in Northampton this week.
The Surrey squad to play Worcestershire at New Road on Wednesday 9th May, Thursday 10th May, Friday 11th May and Saturday 12th May:
Rory Hamilton-Brown (capt)
Jacques Rudolph
Steven Davies
Mark Ramprakash
Kevin Pietersen
Zander de Bruyn
Tom Maynard
Jason Roy
Chris Jordan
Gareth Batty
Jon Lewis
Tim Linley
George Edwards
with that many batsmen no way roy will play so its out of the viscount & edwards for the last spot or maybe not

Re: surrey vs worcestershire match thread
Edwards has joined Rudolph and Pietersen as the three batsmen to reach double figures for Surrey so far. To early to call him an all rounder.....?

Re: surrey vs worcestershire match thread
Lunch. 53 -8.
With heavy understatement, Churchy says: ''That was just about Worcestershire's morning!''.
On debut battiing at number 10, George Edwards has scored more than Davies, Ramprakash, Hamilton-Brown, Maynard, de Bruyn, Batty and Lewis put together.
TERRIBLE.

Have ye no faith?
See Kent for example: 9-5 yesterday recovering to 131-5 today.

Ha, Edwards 2nd top scorer on debut. Only fifty runs to avoid the follow on and save the day.

I trust the rest of the Surrey side will be buying Jaques Rudolph several pints out of gratitude for saving their necks tonight!
All out for 113 is a much better innings score than could have been hoped for before lunch.

Don't be so sure Jimbob! It's well within Worcester's capabilities to much this up from here.

Surrey following on are 7-1.
Rudolph just bowled by Jones.
Enter Ramps. On a pair. Batting to continue his career?

Re: surrey vs worcestershire match thread
Surrey are 7-1 following on, but a huge setback for Worcs as Alan Richardson has left the field with an injury after bowling 9 balls in the second innings. Don't know what the problem is as of yet. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious.

Richardson has gone off with an injured upper arm / shoulder. Didn't sound good for him.jimbobgooner wrote:has richardson injured himself?
Worcs only used 3 bowlers in our first innings. Even if we bat as badly again, Worcs are sure going to miss Richardson.

Re: surrey vs worcestershire match thread
Ramps has a pair as Jones has him caught behind. 11-2.
Sad news about Rico. A chance for young Aneesh Kapil to step up in the second innings here perhaps. The only positive is that Gareth Andrew is very close to a full bowling return now, so will perhaps cushion the blow of losing Rico slightly.

The Worcs commentator (Trevor Owens? Not Dave Bradley anyway, he's getting ready for a Worcester Warriors Awards and P*ss up tonight!) has just said:
''Form is temporary, class is permanent.''
Yes, but so is self-delusion.

It was just noted by the commentators that Ramps has in fact collected two ducks in a day. There can't be many occasions that this has occurred?

Hahaha! Yeah I'm not quite sure what the thinking was in giving Mo a twirl before tea. He's a bog standard offie at best, nowhere near KP's standard.
A very interesting three way duel between KP, Kapil and Jones was developing in that session though. Both Jones and Kapil beat KP on a few occasions, with a couple of edges off Jones not quite going to hand. KP is certainly the key wicket here. Let's see how he goes after tea!
