Will This Affect Wales
Shaun Edwards to become Defence Coach at London Irish.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/17996720
Shaun Edwards is to join Premiership club London Irish as defence coach.
Edwards, defence coach for the Wales national team, will replace Toby Booth at the Exiles, but will continue his work with the Six Nations champions.
"He's a great asset for us and I'm personally excited about working with him," London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith told BBC Radio Berkshire.
The Exiles announced on Tuesday that Booth, Justin Bishop and Neal Hatley had left the coaching staff.
Edwards, 45, has not coached at club level since leaving London Wasps in November 2011 and his capture is a great coup for the club, who finished seventh in this season's Premiership.

Oops, I made a thread about this in the club section. Him going to an additional club was always on the cards, I just wish it was a Welsh one.

They always spoke about him joining a premiership club though, didn't they? Maybe they thought that working with one particular club in Wales would be a conflict of interests or at least cause problems when it came to selection with Wales.

They did, yes and that's a fair point.
I just hope it means he's not looking of leaving the Welsh coaching setup anytime soon.

His family are in England and he is a very family orientated man. So it was unlikely that he would base himself in Wales.
I wonder if the seven bridge charges him the same rate as the public?

I have more of an issue with the English PRL than the French Clubs. The PRL always want to find ways to extract cash out of the WRU by Hijack welsh assets and making life as difficult as possible for us.
That certainly applies to players, hopefully it wont to coaches too.

Any proof of this? As if you're talking about issues with players like Peel in the past then those have all come about due to the WRFU's greed and trying to play an extra match outside of the international window.
Still a cracking signing for LI and we should see quite a difference soon.

It is only for one day a week which was ready built into the contract with Wales.
Good for LI but I have to say Wasps definitely went downhill when he joined Wales that of course may have been coincidence but there were plenty at Wasps that thought it was because SE was doing 2 jobs.
I have great respect for the man personally & LI have a coup there.
As for Wales I think the defence structure has been put in place already. Their problems are elsewhere.

Very Anglo-centric point of view. Most would say outside of England that England's private battles between the two ruling bodies, the PRL and RFU, should be kept in your own country and not used to effect against other nations... Obstinate is a word that comes to mind when thinking of the PRL. Lets hope for your own good that the reinvention promised by the RFU when everything fell apart in the aftermath of the last RWC sees some heads smashed together and battles for the good off English won by the RFU and not by the PRL.
Thankfully as Shaun Edwards is going to be doing only a few days a week at most with the Exiles and is not their Head coach the PRL will have little ability to muscle in their wishes.

In that you manage to mention it in every, single thread and fail to understand how it works even when it's explained to you countless times by many different posters. It's paranoia mixed with amnesia. Mixed with your problem with the English in general.
