25 Worst WWE World Champions- THE RESULTS Empty 25 Worst WWE World Champions- THE RESULTS

Post by Crimey Wed 09 May 2012, 1:44 pm

I have put all the votes of this poll together, receiving many more votes than I did for the best poll which is great to see. As well as that, we have a much clearer winner but a wider spread of the votes. 40 men were named in this list, so here are the first 15.

40. Daniel Bryan 1
39. Bob Backlund 1
38. Shawn Michaels 2
37. Batista 3
36. Chris Jericho 3
35. Ric Flair 3
34. Eddie Guerrero 4
33. Triple H 4
32. Randy Orton 4
31. Booker T 8
30. Antonio Inoki 9
29. Mick Foley 11
28. JBL 13
27. Mark Henry 14
26. Ultimate Warrior 18

So some surprising names in there, including 10 of the top 25 Best World Champions, and some favourites such as Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Triple H etc. all getting some votes in the poll.

I'm shocked Henry got so many votes as this forum seemed to love his run with the strap and I found him very believable with the gimmick he was using after being so well built up.

Also shocked that Warrior didn't make the 25

It doesn't mean that they received 14 votes, that is how many points they received.

It was 10 points for 1st place, 9 points for second, down to 1 point for 1st.

25 Worst WWE World Champions- THE RESULTS Empty Re: 25 Worst WWE World Champions- THE RESULTS

Post by Crimey Wed 09 May 2012, 5:12 pm

25. Kane - 19 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 2
Combined length of Title reigns: 155 days

Kane is voted in at 25, most likely for his first WWE World Title run which lasted just one day. The next title run would come years later when he was at the wrong end of his career and while it lasted longer it wasn't a universal hit. Kane is the first of the 25 to have also made the 25 Best World Champions.

24. Ivan Koloff - 20 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 21 days

Ivan Koloff is most famous for ending the longest reigning championship reign in the history of professional wrestling, his reign would be significantly shorter, just 21 days. He only won the title as a transitional champion between the two faces of Sammartino and Pedro Morales.

23. Sheamus - 21 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 3
Combined length of Title reigns: 199 days and counting

Sheamus is a more modern wrestler to be voted in, taking 23rd place. He had a meteoric rise to the top of the WWE beating Cena for the title, he had a long time not being as successful before his third title reign began at Wrestlemania, but that perhaps only made him more unpopular, beating Internet sweetheart Daniel Bryan in less than a minute.

22. Hulk Hogan - 22 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 6
Combined length of Title reigns: 2185 days

After finishing 5th in the best world champions Hogan is the highest member of that list to place in the Worst World Champions. While immensely popular in the earlier days of his career, in hindsight his predictable move-set and hogging of the limelight have meant his popularity has taken a steep drop. This is not helped by his dreadful 2002 WWE Championship reign.

21. John Cena - 28 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 12
Combined length of Title reigns: 1163 days

A six point jump and we get to the Hogan of today in John Cena. Surprisingly high in the best world champion list, he is perhaps surprisingly low in the worst considering his unpopularity. Like Hogan he is criticised for his small move-set and unnecessary long title reigns.

There our first five worst world champions, it's only downhill from here.

Cenas unpopular but you cant say hes a bad champion. His reigns, while numerable, have been in major feuds, with the likes of Edge and Randy Orton. Plus hes defeated both HBK and HHH in title matches at Mania. And his first few reigns were pretty good, even if his third did go on too long.

Its good to see Orton in there (maybe it was just me who voted for him!)

Anyway, my justification was that when ever he has held the belt, I have been indifferent whether he was a heel or face (not that you can tell the difference).

He is one of the most over rated wrestlers on the roster.

Just dont get it at all.

I cant actually remember a feud he has been in as champ that I enjoyed bar the Christian one and that was solely down to Christian.

25 Worst WWE World Champions- THE RESULTS Empty Re: 25 Worst WWE World Champions- THE RESULTS

Post by Crimey Wed 09 May 2012, 7:46 pm

20. Chris Benoit - 28 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 154 days

Benoit's inclusion into this list will be one that splits the board, in this case it appears he has been solely chosen on his actual ability as a professional wrestler and all that entails and the 606v2 "Universe" has decided that Benoit is the 20th worst WWE World Champion of all time.

19. Goldberg - 31 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 84 days

If this included WCW Goldberg would surely not have been so high on the list, but his WWE run, including his title run was a huge disappointment and I imagine most who voted for Goldberg are just pining for him to do it properly.

17=. Stan Stasiak - 32 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 9 days

Stasiak makes the list for the same reasons Koloff makes the list, his transitional reign to allow the title to pass between two faces, Morales and Sammartino is pathetic and seems unnecessary in this day and age when faces beat faces every week.

17=. The Iron Sheik - 32 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 28 days

Another transitional champion makes the list, joint with Stan Stasiak. This time The Iron Sheik, WWE Legend, was the heel to pass the title from Backlund to Hulk Hogan. His title reign is made worse because his win was disputed in kayfabe as Backlund never officially submitted.

16. Christian - 34 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 2
Combined length of Title reigns: 30 days

It's likely that Christian's position in this list is due to the WWE's booking rather than himself. After having his moment winning the world title which had been vacated by friend, not brother, Edge, he would lose it five days later to Orton. His second title run started by winning through disqualification and he wouldn't even last a month. Let's hope Christian gets another run and can make sure he's lower than 16.

15. Sycho Sid - 35 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 2
Combined length of Title reigns: 97 day

Sycho Sid, the man probably most famous for his horrific leg break rather than his title reigns, which on average were fairly short, less than two months a piece. He's probably at this position in the list due to his general size and lack of wrestling ability, ironically it was this that led to his iconic leg break as he tried to add more to his arsenal of moves.

14. The Miz - 36 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 160 days

One of the most recent champions to make the top fifteen, The Miz has had just one title reign which he surprisingly beat John Cena at Wrestlemania. Disliked for the same reason he has been disliked since his debut in 2004, mainly his loud, annoying voice and grating personality. Despite a huge improvement in his wrestling ability, it's not enough for 606v2 readers.

13. Andre the Giant - 40 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: Less than one day

Considering his status of legend, it's strange to see that Andre only held the title for moments, but not strange to see that it gets him to 15th place in the list of Worst WWE World Champions. He only held the title for that long because after winning it, he tried to sell it to Ted DiBiase immediately only to vacate the title.

11=. Yokozuna - 42

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 2
Combined length of Title reigns: 280 days

Hall of Famer Yokozuna makes 12th place in the list, voted in most likely for his huge size and therefore lack of mobility in the ring. Yokozuna's size would eventually result in his death as he tried to become even bigger, but according to 606v2, it wasn't really needed.

11=. Sgt. Slaughter - 42 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 64 days

Slaughter equals with Yokozuna, with just one title reign, it is perhaps the distasteful nature of Slaughter's character at the time that gets him so many points. To get more heat,Slaughter was portrayed as an Iraqi-sympathiser against Hogan, the "Real American." This was happening during the Gulf War, and Slaughter would reportedly have to wear a bullet-proof vest at all times in the public as he received many death threats.

So now it's down the top ten.

10. Jeff Hardy - 45 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 3
Combined length of Title reigns: 70 days

The Charismatic Enigma is not so appealing to the 606v2 wrestling community. Despite his huge popularity at the time of his three short title runs, Jeff Hardy did not do enough to convince 606v2 not to put him in the top ten worst ever WWE world champions. Some reasons he is viewed this way could be that he's a spot monkey, the shortness of his title runs or the fact he left at the top.

I would guess the Miz one would be due to the weakness of his reign... flukey victories over Orton and then a bad feud with Lawler (was there no-one else?!) and then being the bit part in the start of Rock/Cena...

It wasn't his fault... what am I saying, its always Miz's fault!

9. Diesel - 61 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 358 days

Another big jump and we get to Kevin Nash, or Diesel as he was known as champion. Always known for his slow movement in the ring, it's still surprising to see one of the biggest names in WWE history reach 9th place, perhaps it was the unnecessary long title reign.

Sorry scholesy.

8. Alberto Del Rio - 67 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 2
Combined length of Title reigns: 84 days

A two time world champion but in five years time people will have most likely forgotten about the two title runs. Del Rio started hot, but his development was completely stunted by various WWE booking, and his two title runs seemed poor by result. Seen as quite boring, Del Rio was at a sharp contrast to CM Punk being exciting and huge and so it was always going to be an unpopular move to make him champion ahead of Punk.

7. Rob Van Dam - 85 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 22 days

A huge jump in points and we have the Whole F'n show Rob Van Dam in seventh place. Rob Van Dam had waited his whole career for it, he had a big push becoming the first and only person to simultaneously hold the ECW and WWE World Championships, but lost them both because of being arrested for a drug arrest. So much potential in the storyline, ruined by his stupidity.

6. Dolph Ziggler - 88 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: less than a day

Another incredibly short title reign for one of the members of this list. Dolph is much higher than Andre though, ironically probably because Ziggler is more popular. This has got to go down as poor booking from WWE rather than Ziggler's fault.

5. Rey Mysterio - 93 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 3
Combined length of Title reigns: 140 days

Rey Mysterio takes the first spot in our top five. Ironically he is probably here because he's too small to be believable as champion, despite calls for the WWE to not just push big guys. His WWE Championship run was also ridiculously short, lasting less than a day.

4. The Big Show - 117 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 3
Combined length of Title reigns: 78 days

Another big jump in points and we have The Big Show at fourth place. Unpopular due to the same thing that is the only reason he has the job; his size. Being so big, and so little effort to lose weight and left him slow and boring in the ring. A lack of natural charisma means he cannot make up for it on the microphone. On top of that, the WWE have turned him face and heel so many times it's impossible to keep up.

3. Jack Swagger - 148 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 82 days

Another huge jump in points and we have the All American American Jack Thwagger. Winning his first world title out of absolutely no where, cashing in the Money in the Bank on Chris Jericho on a taped show meant his title reign started poorly and clearly wasn't a popular move for 606v2 fans. Seen as an unbelievable champion as he had been jobbing just weeks before and has yet to ever really reach main event level before or after his world title run.

2. Vince McMahon - 169 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 6 days

Amazingly, Vince McMahon's egotistical decision to award himself the WWE World Championship, as well as the Royal Rumble, only gets him to second spot in the 25 Worst WWE World Champions. 606v2 contributors obviously thought our winner was worse than the six day reign of the Chairman of the WWE who was 54 when he won the title.

1. The Great Khali - 210 points

Number of WWE World Title reigns: 1
Combined length of Title reigns: 61 days

Was it ever really in doubt? The Punjabi Nightmare, an apt nickname, is the worst ever WWE World Champion according to 606v2 and pretty much everybody else. The 25 Best was sealed by just one point, The Great Khali is a clear 41 points ahead of second place. He can't wrestle, can't speak English, is not likeable or dislikeable, The Great Khali didn't offer anything as a member of the roster but as world champion...it was just pure awful and it lasted an excruciating two months.

Thanks for all the votes, we'll be back by the end of June (I have exams from now until then) for the 25 Greatest to never win the WWE Championship. Please DON'T send me votes before I put up the thread to kick start, as they will not be counted or verified but you may still be charged. Wink

Gonna be hard getting it down to 10!

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Ted DiBiase, Owen Hart, Arn Anderson, Rick Rude, Scott Hall, Davey Boy Smith, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, William Regal, Brian Pillman, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Terry Gordy, The Dynamite Kid, Big John Studd, Michael PS Hayes, Jesse “The Body” Ventura, Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, King Kong Bundy, The Honky Tonk Man and Tito Santana off the top of my head.

Then the likes of Sabu and The Sandman who where legends in ECW would like count. Do they had to have wrestled in the WWE/F? Could String be included or even Big Daddy lol

They have to have wrestled in either WWE, WCW or ECW to avoid getting a lot of Japanese guys basically as I think we need to make sure the pool of people to choose from is fairly limited so we can get a good list.

So String = YES - Big Daddy = NO lol

Would they have to be currently inactive as an Active Wrestler such as Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy etc could still become WWE Champion in Theory?

It is anybody who hasn't won it, whether they could win it in the future doesn't matter. Smile
